I'm still waiting for someone to post a 'Nuages-video' with clouds drifting slowly past the disc of the moon, shot from an open bedroom-window of an old country house somewhere in the heart of France, during a summernight at around 2:30... but your vid is nice too! ...thx for posting it.
The music cross-pollinates with Sibelius' Swan of Tuonela (n.b. the cor anglais solo), yet Debussy's vision of passing clouds remains highly original. Ashkenazy and the Cleveland musicians respond to the score with great sensitivity.
@1mctous mmh nice analysis and it makes sense because Sibelius and Debussy were contemporaries but with differents musical points of views, of course Sibelius was a bit impressionist and the example is the fragment of the english horn in The Swan of Tuonela symphonic poem.
A fine rendition of this magical piece.
