  • In real life they force us to stay in virtual reality/cyberworld as spies and when caught the energy torture is HORRIFIC! A gridded earth makes the torture possible. At this point there is no country able to prevent it, or if they could have, why haven't they yet? Because they like spy slaves. This is censored but for the record I tried to warn!

  • smooth criminal

  • I LOVE THE SOUNDS

they remind me of the old days

  • @atomicapeboy

    Wow 18 min!

  • So THAT'S what it's like in Stephen Hawkings house...

  • i laughed my ass off when i ran into chasm. Did it on purposely for a few times :D

  • this game was so crazy ,remeber the laugh at the begining of the game !# :)

  • Turbo tape ;)

  • OH HELL YEAH!!! Completely forgot this wonderfull game.

  • If i where a child, i said to Impossible Mission in German: "Das Aufzugspiel" (Elevatorgame) :>

  • Had this on the C64/128. For some reason the voice never worked so I didn't hear the "Another visitor!" thing until I played it years later on an emulator.

  • @cantrips ours apparently didn't work either, because I just found out he said it from watching the vid lol

  • OMG! Memories!!!

  • So many memories, I loved this game! I tried to tell my friends about a game I played as a kid with staying awhile, robots, bottomless pits, and black balls that disintegrated you..needless to say I was asked if I was dropped as a baby.

  • This game was the best. Thank you so much for uploading this.

  • Heh, 60000 views exactly.

I loved this game, one of the games I played a LOT of, so much fun.

  • 3 people stayed forever.

  • Who? Where did they stay?

  • 6:48 - cut that jump a bit fine!

  • i am not a visitor stay a while stayyyy foreverrrr <3

  • another game i spent years of my life playing! <3

  • I remember beating this game once. Theres different sets of puzzle pieces u gotta put together but i forget whats after that

  • An alltime classic game from the glory years of the Commodore 64. I remember being in awe of the speech when i saw it for the first time at an old friends house.

It was an Impossible Mission for me though, ha ha....bloody hard!

    Cheers for posting.

  • Nothing There...

  • I beat this game 1 time, don't know how but the voice came on at the end and was like NO NO NO!

  • "destroy him my rrriewbots!"

  • im not a visiter not another visiter.

  • The actual story behind the bad guy...is that He was a college student, playing some video game and tried to beat the high score ( like 9999999 penguins killed or something) and just as he was about to break the number, the power went out and he went insane..

  • i could never complete this game ^^ btw. is there actually some sort of story behind this? :D

  • really cool!

  • I used to play this game when I was like 4 or 5. Needless to say I couldn't ever complete it, but my oldest brother did a couple of times. I just absolutely love this game. <3

  • One of my first game ever, I was too young (and the game was too hard) to finish it but I spent so much time on it. I still have the original tape with the box haha ! EPIC! XD

  • Awesome,.. i had forgotton all bout this game. And its the first time i see it in color lol.

  • I like the sample sounds and the way the head character runs and moves. What a pity I never had the game manual.

  • i got this game saved on a flash drive i can play it anytime

  • This game was so far ahead of it's time. I had it on the C64 as well and couldn't beat it for the longest time. I still have my C64 and of course, this game. Back then it wasn't all about graphics and speed. Just one more thing that makes me wish it was 1984 again!

  • you gotta love the Paws button. (Pause) ahahhahaha!

  • I was really impressed the first time i saw this game. A game that could speak.

Fantastic. But i think it was too hard. At least for me. I kept dying a lot.

This and Flashback was the most impressive games i ever saw.

  • We have a saying in our family, "falling down the 'Aaaaggh's" because of the scream he does when he falls down a hole. Great game.

  • I miss the 80s

  • I had this game and I loved it. It was great! And I still like watching it.

  • Man this game tormented me as a child. For me, it really was impossible!

  • Ah memories..I remember when I played this when I was young.

Actually, no I don't because my friend would never lend me it!

  • damn, i remember playing this when i was little on Sega Master System, boy was this game hard lol

  • I never had the patience to figure out what i was supposed to do to play through and wtf were those pieces... But yeah, one of the classic computer game quotes, i feel nostalgique, "stay a while.... stay forEVEEEEEEEEER" and yeah, "distroy him my robots" lol. Fun times. I miss the 80s and my C64 !!!

  • man i used to play this as a kid.. i used to pretend i was han solo.

  • I like how some of these robots will make a quick little look behind them as they patrol their platform, like they're looking over their shoulders.

  • Oh these sounds effects, suddenly I feel as I felt some 18 years ago when I had a c64

  • LOVED this game when I was young! Back when games had character!

  • crazy classic, such deep fondness for this, memories are taking over ...

  • Back in '86 (when i was 6) our upstairs neighbor used to let me come in and play this game on their system. No, they weren't pedophiles, lol. Good memories, thx for the upload!

  • i remember my friend had this.............good game

  • We might not be getting all the 'inbetweens' here -- (I mean, why argue, but...) - the original game had butter-smooth animation effects that took advantage of the C64's graphics hardware. i.e. the guy was always smooth in running and jumping.

Definitely a 'killer app' of its day!

  • This was a great game back in the day, great enough to justify waiting a half-hour for it to load. :)

  • Sigh - I remember this.

  • What Poulsbo said about Epyx is true. They made many of the amazing and classic games for the C64. From Summer Games, Winter Games, to Impossible Mission and Beach Head I/II they definitely made a big impact in the c64 gaming world. And they also created that useful and (to me) necessary utility cartridge the Epyx Fastload Cartridge. :)

  • @jkeelsnc also don't forget they made JumpMan and Jumpman JR as well the summer winter and world games series

  • Well there is no doubt that this is absolutely one of the most classic games of all time for the C64 and a cool one at that. The digitized voices are funny but I especially love the awful yelling that occurs when you fall off of a platform into the pit below. "Aggghhhhhgh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" LOL!!!

  • sounds like that dude in beginning got braces

  • I remember this. What year was it from?

  • what is the message on the beginning, or is it a menace? I´m spanish and can´t totally translate it since I was 9! someone please help!

  • "Another visitor? Stay a while! Stay for ever!"

  • @Mortalfarmer jajaja tras 20 años termino por enterarme. gracias!

  • De nada! Yo traductor Google lol. Yo puedo hablar yey español.

  • Otro visitante? Quédate un rato! Manténgase para siempre!

  • Wow, this game brings back memories. I was so impressed with it back in the day.

  • Another Visiter, stay awhile, stay FOREVER!!!

  • Aw I played this game all night. It had, in my oppinion, the best graphics for a C64 game. I also used to play on the VC20, if anyone can remember this machine with tape memory LOL

  • We never could succeed this game.. it was horrible to match the puzzles.. :o

  • The puzzles were half the fun.

  • Oh, and imagine this:

One time, I had to show a friend how to complete this game at his house.

Thing is, he had a black and white TV.

It was a real pain in the ass, trying to match those colored puzzle pieces on his crappy B/W TV. But I eventually did it.

  • @shawbros Thats just plain awesome!

Props to you for doing that on a B/W TV. Completed the game once or twice when i was about 7-8.

That sense of accomplishment was great!

  • Ohhh, I remember this game! I've still got the ZX Spectrum version (along with the ZX Spectrum) in a cupboard somewhere. I must play this. Now.

  • First class longplay m8! Now I know how to put the puzzle peaces together. After nearly 20 years ! :-)

  • Stay a while, stay forever? I played this game a lot when i was little, without even knowing what the goal or mission was. Just wandering around, jumping robots...

  • LOL - the same here :-)

  • Impossible Mission was my favorite game from 1984-1991, until Civ. The best C64 computer game and is still the best today in its own genre. After 2 years of playing, I was convinced that the game was truly an impossible mission, when a friend told me that she scored over 30,000 points. Encouraged by this, I played until eventually I scored 31313 points with no cheating or receiving help from anyone. 19 minutes and 47 seconds. If you honestly have a higher score than mine, please let me know.

  • Best game ever... :)

  • I loved his dying sound best, comedy.

  • Haven't played this game since around 1992 / 1993!

    Ah the memories!

  • A visitor... Stay awhile....

    Stay FOREVERRR!! HAHAHAHA

Awesome game, don't make em like that anymore.

  • Ricky you young fart, you can beat this _l_ keep sucking kid lol

  • First VG I ever played. First VG I ever beat. When I played this game for the first time, it was the last time I was myself.

Years later I made a soundtrack for it ... but I can't list it, cause that'd be spama'am.

  • I was the end of this game...I never got to finish it

  • Fantastic game. I had it for both the C64 and the Master System. I couldn't beat it on the latter.

  • The Master System version had a bug in it which could possibly prevent you from completing the game. I think it had to do with item placement behind an unsearchable object or something.

  • @saxxonpike Which is better in your opinion?

  • @saxxonpike I think that was the Atari 7800 version actually.

Either way, it sure sucks lol

  • @saxxonpike Thats the Atari 7800 version.

  • @Fourthizzle Which is better in your opinion?

  • @steve5123456789

I preferred the master system version

but I'm quite biased towards that console

  • Used to play this on my Sega Master System. Great game.

  • Oh man, probably the best C64 game ever, I won twice in a few years. I always loved the sound of your footsteps down the hallway.

  • An example of excellent game design.

  • Thanks for posting this by the way!

  • God, this is so classic!! Used to play this constantly on my C128 back in the 80s. Once you've figured out the programming of all the robots in every room and solve the game, it became a cakewalk. The sequel was 2-3x as hard and long but eventually became easy as well.

  • This was a beast of a game. I never completed it...then again, I had a lot of other C64 games competing for my attention.

    Peace.

  • "Another visitor, stay a while, stay forever!"

  • Great, Great, GREAT GAME!

  • looks tough

  • Ace game! "Stay a while, stay forever!".

  • OMG!! This was my Favorite Game for the C64!!

  • yeah one of my favorite games from them, and although it was hard it wasnt ridiculously hard + it made sense !

  • this game was awesome

  • Great game! Took me some while but I eventually managed to finish it. First with a cheat cartridge and later on without any cheating! The doctor screaming "no no no!". I was so proud of myself.

  • Quite an advanced little sprite. Early rotoscoping.

  • I never was able to finish this game, way too hard! Mission Impossible!

  • I loved this game. It was hard to learn but when mastered you couldn't fail. I completed it each time I played and when I found it back on a pc emulator I completed it at 1st try. animations were amazing at the time.

  • I seem to remember the evil scientist was called Dr. Elvin Mindbender and the sole reason he wanted to blow the world to bits was because he had been playing some videogame in which you had to kill pinguins. He was about to beat his own record for this game only to being denied it from a power cut and never could forgive humanity for this.

In his profile it said he hates human and animals (enjoyed killing pinguins in videogames) but likes robots and M&M's. I guess that's the candy.

  • This was one of my first C64 games (along with sammy lightfoot, aztek challenge, congo bongo, escape MCP, loderunner, way of the expoding fist, space taxi and a few others probably) when I was very little. This really is one of those games that you either like or don't like. Rather innovative and unique atmosphere for its time, but hard. Never completed it.

  • "Impossible Mission" was my favourite game on the Commodore64II and I played it even more often than "Giana Sisters". I also played "International Soccer". My god, this is all sooo damn RETRO...! :-)

  • I was waiting for the death scream! I played it a long time the hard way, then found these "cheat" rom carts, that had mixed success. Later, I figured out how to modify the code to make yourself invisible to the robots, but it STILL took quite a while each time to get to the payoff. It didn't help much in the rooms where you had jump just right to get across.

  • I was four when this game came out. It scared THE SHIT OUT OF ME!!

  • this chap - I assume it's a chap? - is clearly an expert on this - I recall trying this on a CBM64 in Preston UK branch of WH Smith newsagent, and was impressed by it's slick, smooth animation and gameplay with simple, yet incredibly addictive puzzle solving 'just one more try' premise. I thought the central character, did the agent have a name? - resembled Han Solo sideways on.

  • Han Solo? Now that you mention it I think I can see what you mean :) The agent didn't have a name if I recall correctly.

  • @saxxonpike The Agent`s Name . . . Just Might Be C3PO ..

  • @saxxonpike

Was it not a number rather than a proper name?

  • I remember playing this one with my brother. Ah, childhood... when life was simpler.

  • Wow - I remember this one! "Another visitor. Stay a while, stay forever!" LMAO that brings back memories!

5 stars and favorited. Top Stuff & brought a smile to my face :-)

  • I'm really glad to see this come out for the Nintendo DS. (I know that this is the Commodore version that you're playing.) The robots in the DS have some added behaviors that make the game a little different but still fun.

  • unna dateee deeeta..stay a while stayy forevaaa:))this video send me to about 15 years ago:) thnks man..

  • He actually says "Another visitor... stay a while... stay FOREVER!"

Some of the best synth speech to be found on the C64.

  • He says as well Go Get Him My Robots!!!

  • "Destroy him my robots"

  • They did a sequel to this game too, didn't they?

  • Yeah. Impossible Mission 2. Though for some reason I like the first one better.

  • I loved this game but i was way to young to understand what to do ;) nice to see how its done

  • Destroy him.. my robots. :) Nice game, although I never finished the game.

  • By the way, I skip the item in the upper-left corner of the first room because I don't get a robot snooze password until quite a bit later. I was really banking on an important item NOT being there -- which ended up being the case at the end.

  • Didn't you realise, you can destroy the floating orbs by making them hit robots. I allways did that on that screen, one less rover to worry about.
