Brian, Dennis and Carl had a bad relationship with there father cause he was so abusive to them. Dennis didn't know how to deal with this and that's why he turned to the drugs and alcohol for comfort. My heart goes out to them, I don't know how any parent could ever treat there child that way.....I don't like the comment that Johnnyaa made about Dennis. You never knew what that poor man went through so you have no right at all to critize him in any way..... May Dennis rest in peace always.
@sheri910 Sheri, there are a heck of a lot of people in this world who turned to drugs and alcohol for comfort but they didn't decide to go out and make mediocre recordings while they were under the influence. Bottom line is that if the name on this record was "Joe Schmoe" instead of "Dennis Wilson" would anybody here think any of these songs were worth a hill of beans? I'd be interested in hearing responses.
@johnnyaa if joe schmoe released an album of this greatness, no we all probably wouldn't have bought it. The reason for that is we never heard of Joe, however, those of us who have heard of Dennis know that he was as his brother Brian said a genius in his own right. johnny when you are the drummer of a band for all of those years, and you are the first one of them to release a solo album you can then talk your crap. take your smack somewhere else sonny.
@denniswilsonfan You missed the point. I'm sure that you wouldn't have bought an LP by a nobody named Joe Schmoe. But if you first listened to this "great" album would you suddenly become a fan of Joe Schmoe? I seriously doubt it. It seems like your point is that if the record has the name "Dennis Wilson" on it it has to be good.
In any case thanks for the "sonny" remark since more than likely I'm old enough to be your father. Peace be with you my son!!
okay johnnyaa, if you hate this music so much why the hell do i see your asshole comments on all these vids? You aren't gonna make us change our minds. are you really so sad that you have to come on here and make these nasty comments? and for the record everything dennis touched turned to solid gold in our minds and we don't really give a shit what you think. GET A LIFE.
@crietman29 My mistake. I thought this was a forum to express views, positive or negative. I have no intent to change anybody's mind. If anything Dennis touched turned to solid gold in your mind I guess that if he turned out an LP of complete silence you would have been the first one in line to buy it. I didn't ask you to give a shit about anything that I think but if your life revolves around a drugged out alcoholic then you are the one who should GET A LIFE.
Super. After about 4 or 5 pints of Beamish, I could listen to this all night. One of the best to come out of the Bambu reissue. God, that guy must have been severely depressed to come out with stuff like this. It reminds me of Eliott Smith song Angeles for some reason. I think he was way ahead of his time.
Wilson had to be drugged out of his mind when he recorded 99% of his songs. Anyone who thinks these vocals have any redeeming quality should have their head examined. Take the name "Dennis Wilson" off the record and you've got a piece of vinyl destined for the landfill.
@musicfromhellsedge I don't need perfect vocals. Call it soul if you will but to my ears this is just a guy under the influence moaning with an instrumental background.
Believe it or not I respect all of you guy's opinions. I enjoy all kinds of music, primarily from the 50's & 60's, but this just struck a nerve. Peace be with you all & a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to everyone!!
Absolutely a beautifull song. As a spanish speaker, would have never guess "Por que no dices que quieres" . Bought the new release, heard it a thousand times, never had an idea. Thanks for posting.
I wish he'd just hung out with us longer, there had to be someone out there who could reach his innerness. just a little longer, I will never forget Dennis Wilson, we shared so many emotions together. Even though I never actually met him I feel such a closeness to him. I know alot of people feel that too, he will live Forever thanks to youtube.
For all the ladies with whom Dennis may have been, he was empty on the inside. That was because he never got love from his father (Murry Wilson), It was the lack of love which made Dennis reach for alcohol.
@mancmuso1 Thank you for this kind sharing of yours, Phil! I know how much you appreciate Dennis' pieces and mean for you! You made me learn about him and his gift and love him, too!! ;)

@johnnyaa It's the soul that his songs have that make them so wonderful. If you want perfect vocals go listen to some top 40 shit.
