Dennis, if I were you, I would switch to being either a third party or an independent. Even if you were to win the Democratic Party's nomination, you still wouldn't be able to shift it into your direction. The party, like the other major party, is corrupt and will no longer serve the interests of the people.
i agree. but apparently he "has" to do it. Paul didnt do it, so I dont know why kucinich does it.
It seems like to me that the democratic party uses kucinich as a poster boy for their ideas, and then they nominate someone who doesnt believe in their real ideals!
Maybe kucinich will eventually turn to the libertarians if the dems go any more to the right.
What they REALLY need to do is get rid of the electoral college. It's the only way any third party candidate will ever have a fighting chance, because it's the only way everyone's vote will actually count.
But of course people have been saying that for years, and nothing has changed. I don't have high hopes.

1. "All members of the society have equal access to power." Whose power? The collectivized sum of individual power.
2. "All members enjoy universally recognized freedoms and liberties." At whose expense? All of our's.

there IS a conflict, maybe not between us, but democracy is immoral, and the world should know. And before you say anything like 'its the best we got'.. No. a democracy will evolve into a despotic oligarchy, but a Republic: rule by law, is good as long as it lasts, and is based on natural laws. when a republic fails, the worst that can come of it is another form of the system so many love and die for: democracy/despotic-oligarchy.
The essence of the Democratic party is hanging by a thread of what it used to stand for, and Dennis Kucinich is that thread!
Dennis, Thanks for standing firm and VOTING NAY twice in the house on that 850Billion dollar Bailout bill (with all the porkbarrel spending added in) if we had more leaders like you, this would never pass the house.

They should change the way voting is done so that you can rate each candidate individually on a scale of 1-10, then see who got the best ratings overall. But my main concern is the free market, the most destructive slope of the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer in the world. And people look at China's industrialization and India and think "progress" HA! They know not the blood on their hands, the free markets have created India's suicide belt, have robbed the third world of its natural riches and plunged the poor and suffering of these nations into the largest world debt in history. But our self interest majority will never stopthis
okay so clearly you're a libertarian, but the divisions in this country dont extend purely along cultural lines, they extend along class lines, whats such an anathema to these people is that the problems of the poor should become the problems of the rich and somehow complain about how that would be undemocratic. Well I refuse to let the society devolve into the tyranny of the majority. For a country that votes on self interest and conditioning, majority rule wont end third world debt
this is where i disagree with you. You cannot vote a wrong a right, just because the majority sees calls for something doesnt make it less unjust. Slavery, segregation, don't ask don't tell, these are all instances of the tyranny of the majority. I dont care how many people decide its okay to deforest the rainforest because it destroys countless ecosystems and species. There is no voice for the majority, for the tree or the immigrant or the homosexual, and majority rule will never fix that
Well I will give you were right about Kucinich's admiration of Ron Paul, which I am a bit shocked to discover. The idea of Kucinich, a man who talks about expanding public education, healthcare, and most importantly ending third world debt, would run with a man who would get rid of public education and health care, and dismantle limits on the free markets that would further third world debt is just a sad proof that dennis isnt as different from the other ruling class lapdogs as i thought he was.
Yes Corporate Fascism, but more importantly, Third World poverty. And whatever definition of libertarian you give me, I know what Paul's said and how he feels towards social problems, and I've heard him cringe at the idea of a democracy where the problems of one actually are the problems of all. Now seeing Kucinich endorse that makes me doubt whether Dennis really believes in what I thought he did. I apologize for being so hostile before, but I'm so used to hostility on youtube its hard to shake
I suppose Roger Calero is really the only candidate I can really stand behind assuredly, Viva Castro, we'll all miss the days when freedom meant something more then getting rid of the IRS
Paul's afraid of war because it gives the government excessive power, Kucinich is opposed to war as a pacifist and as someone who finds the corporate influence on foreign policy abhorrent. Paul is against NAFTA because it theoretically hurts America's sovereignty while Kucinich sees NAFTA as promoting unfair free trade agreements that will inevitably outsource American jobs and further promotion of free trade will only destroy the independence and wealth of smaller nations
I object to how you paint PoliticalcompassDTorg they are a respected non-partisan that uses a respected litmus test.
You concede they are both against NAFTA and both against the War But still choose to write page long diatribes about how they are not on the same page because of your limited definition of a libertarian.
Is anyone who is not authoritarian a libertarian? Or could that perhaps be a LIMITED definition? What about someone who pursues the cause of liberty for the DISenfranchised, one who sees poverty as a greater anathema than the zeroes on their taxes, one who sees war for the damage it does to the helpless victims and not just those who feel not the need to wipe the blood form their hands? Those who use the state as a tool rather than a sword or an unwanted crutch? Do they fit into your definition?
blackturtle: he already ran. Write him in anyway.
People, you cannot focus on only the November presidential elections. You have to vote constantly, in your local elections. Never let up. Local are almost more important than the presidential elections.
Local is much more important than presidential elections. Your local representation has a huge influence on who runs caucus's and who can get ballot access.
If you want a party out of federal office it is really easy to get them out at a local level. This is how Evangelicals got a whack job like bush in office.
Kucinich isn't a libertarian and neither is Nader. Both Kucinich and Nader are in favor of strict regulatory standards for large businesses , FAIR trade markets, the UN, and interior development through government (i.e public education, healthcare). Kucinich looks at crime as a social problem, looks at racism as embedded in the establishment. In every way Kucinich is not a libertarian. Just because one believes in liberty does not make them a libertarian
Okay so you're basing your argument on an inaccurate website thats one of many who simplify the complications of political philosophy into a game of four square. Paul believes in LIMITED government, he wants to get rid of most governmental programs. Kucinich is a BIG government candidate. Kucinich would create K-12 public education, Paul would try to eliminate public education. Kucinich would adopt socialised medicine, Paul would get rid of medicare and social security

Where was Howard Dean's scream when you need it? ... the Democratic Party should have made sure that every candidate received time to speak, at least until the primaries were over, everyone had the chance to make up their own minds!
The 'for profit' entertainment news programs make me sick. It is all about pay offs and ratings ... to heck with what real Americans want.
Please support Dennis and keep this voice for truth and accountability in the public arena.
he never answered the question! if runs as an independent or green maybe he'd pick nader as a running mate, or nader should pick him, nader and kucinich would be a great ticket!
We have to take a stand for our values, for each other, for our country... or it will resemble the wills and ideologies of corporate corruption and greed. Being born and raised in Germany the resemblance to events that took place during Hitler's time in office are scarily uncanny! If the people will lead, the leader will follow. We must make our voices heard and Kucinich is the voice of the people! Do what you can to support him!
Dennis he is the only one that would turn this country around if he was elected. It is imperative that he stays in office. ... Look deeply into what is happening in this country. Look beyond the mainstream media. Much is hidden. Did you know there are people living in third world poverty conditions? A friend of mine is doing a documentary on it. It's hard to believe unless you see it with your own eyes.
Dennis Kucinich is a blessing to politics. He raised the bar for all candidates in the presidential election. If one follows his campaign & the issues he addresses; takes a close look into what he has been able to accomplish as a congressmen (even when his "hands were tied" by other political forces) it is awe-inspiring. No wonder that he is gaining in popularity. As a purely "green" leader he wouldn't stand a chance. He was the only congressman who voted against the war in Iraq. ...
Dennis isn't going anywhere. It is a fact and that fact just doesn't sink in with the sunshine kumbaya sing along the campfire squad. they are more in love with his earth-mother syndrome wife than Dennis. Frodo is a no go. Pick a horse that will stay in the race and not the ET watching UFO rider in the sky. Looney tunes don't get elected they get laughed at.
When I ask people on the street what they think of Dennis Kucinich, I get one of two answers:
I love the guy he's great.
or
Who?
The more people who get to hear Kucinich, the more people support him. but the big media has already voted for the American population. Good bye democracy.
It has become very clear that the polls produced by the mainstream media are fabricated to culture opinion based on the desires of the big corporations. Wherever Kucinich is ahead, they simply remove the poll or fabricate the numbers. It's not too far a leap to see that election numbers are managed in just such a way. We haven't gotten who we choose, we get the candidate who furthers corporate agenda. Ie. George W. Bush.
3rd party. Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich. Don't really care which one is the pres if they work as one, though I'd lean towards Ron Paul due to the overwhelming grass roots support he has of which Dennis simply doesn't have at all.
Are you kidding? Dennis has the second most grassroots support of all the candidates! He has won virtually every single grassroots straw poll by a wide margin on the democratic side. Your right, Ron Paul does have more. But Dennis is doing well also...
Only a gold-backed currency will force a balanced budget, and castrate a run-away big govt and military industrial complex - we now serve BIG BROTHER, not the other way around.
My new book about my adventures on Nader's 2004 campaign, "What Was Ralph Nader Thinking?" will be published Feb 12th, 2008 (LIncoln's 199th birthday). Special pre-order price today at The Woman Director dot com.
they're similar in the sense that neither of them are snakes, and they're honest. I don't know much about Kucinich, since I'm a Ron Paul fan, but he seems like a decent guy if you're into socialism.
Shay's Rebellion was a measure to fix an ineffective government, not abusive. The taxation of the farmers seemed abusive because it was one of the few powers the weak central government could carry out, thus making demands seem high. It would have only been a matter of time before other signs of ineffectiveness with the Articles of Confederation would grab the government's attention. It's just coincidental that arms were used in this incident.
As a Clevelander, I have noticed that Kucinich cares too much for his run for presidency and not enough in Cuyahoga County and the city of Cleveland itself. He may be a well suited candidate for the 08 primary, however, he has a city to tend to. Cleveland has a steel industry that is in shambles, motor plants are struggling, and there is an increasing number of empty store fronts in areas such as malls. Kucinich's top priority should be in improving the district in which he was elected to.
I would be more than happy to see Kucinich run as a Green...the longer he stays in the race the better it is for the Green Party, provided his supporters will join us in the Green Party when the Dems nominate a pro-war candidate. I hope they will not sell out and support Hillary...time will tell.
I'm a Ron Paul supporter who likes Kucinich. I wish Kucinich really had a chance to win the nomination in his party. Would love to see a Kucinich/Paul debate. But with Hillary around there isn't a chance. Maybe we'll see a move to a 3rd party? Paul/Kucinich would be great in '08!
Dennis Kucinich is a very intelligent and humble man. But, he was rated 'F' by the NRA, indicating a pro-gun control voting record. Any man in America who wants to take away the inalienable right of any individual to prtoect his or her self simply cannot get my vote. The Founders knew why the People should always keep the right to bear arms, do you?
The Second Amendment was ratified to ensure that the people had a means of preventing a tyrannical leader from coming to power, not the protection from domestic disputes such as burglary. It is to prevent another Adolf Hitler from coming to power. We're just lucky we havn't had to use it for it's real purpose as of now.
Dennis/Ralph '08 and '12! Two men of integrity who admire each other. I have read that nader has said (rumours, rumours...) that he won't run if Kucinich gets the nomination. But if it were Kucinich/Nader???
Kucinich is who we need. If you really look into the records and issue statements of the other "mavericks," well you'll find that they're just a bit off.
BTW, Kucinich is not a "socialist." That's one of those words that you have claim for yourself. I've never heard him claim that title. Therefore, he's not one. Kucinich is a populist reformer.
Now, if you want to call me one, well, you're accurate.
i was thinking classic views of liberalism and the classic views of conservativism would act as a sort of checks and balance system within the executive branch.
There is hope for a better future, once we just realize we are all in the same boat.
We love our parents, children, and pets. We want to live in a safe, healthy, and clean environment, supporting our families with a job we can relate to, without the threat of crimes and wars. We would like freedom in our own homes, and lives, if we are not hurting others. We would like a dignified death.
Thankyou Dennis, you are a hero! Cancel Nafta, Immediate Withdrawal from Iraq and no more war as a policy, Universal Single Payer Not-For-Profit Healthcare, Hold the Current Administration Accountable For Crimes committed While In Office, Department of Peace, Withdraw from WTO, restore Workers Rights and Environmental Laws and Child Labor Laws. 1 choice for our future, Dennis Kucinich!!!
Ron Paul will be the next president of the United States...if he can survive.
But then personal experience has proved that the primaries are fixed by both parties. A third party ticket will be necessary. Ron Paul/Scott Ritter? Ron Paul can stick to the issues. Scott Ritter can expose the corruption.
Again, why would RP run with Gravel? How can a welfare state candidate run with an accountability candidate? Don't they teach comprehension in school anymore? Granted, Nadar is closer to RP than Gravel or Kuchinich but not by much.
um those are the only canidates that arent endorsed by big business. (hence why they should combime their little political power and draw votes from both parties.)ron paul will not win by himself nor will nadar or gravel......why not use their media exposure as a positive and run together. another reason i say they should run together is because if they dont, they will end up running with a neo-conservative and screwing our country like every other president for the past 100 years.
Apparently people have not investigated Ron Paul's voting record. He is a Libertarian Republican in that he is against the war and a seperatist on one hand but he has voted along big oil's wishes right along. I like his views on the war side but his thoughts on privatization and big business is the Republican way of life. So what face of Ron Paul will you see if he were elected?
LOL! This statement just proves what a moron you really are. I will crush your "political knowledge" any day of the week. Anybody to state that they have a "much better degree from a more prestigious school" on an Internet forum admits to their own lack of self esteem and intelligence. Maybe go back to your professors and ask them why you lack comprehension and logic.
even if ron paul pulled out a miracle and won the republican party, he would be dominated by hillary. she has 20x the money and corporate backing of ron paul (even though she is the devil).
Ron Paul is NO MATCH for Dennis Kucinich!! Ron Paul is like a George Bush who just happens to not be happy with the way the Iraq war is going ... otherwise, Ron Paul IS as much Republican as Bush!!
If you support Ron Paul, you should already know where he stands on these issues! He is FOR all of the above!! As for the Iraq War, Paul just thinks it should have been done differently ... "differently" does NOT mean "not at all"
So they share a few ideas but Ron Paul is a Jefferson Conservative and Kuchinich is a neo-socialist. Kuchinich believes in the welfare states and Dr.Paul believes in accountability--this is a HUGE difference. Ron Paul wants you to grow your own weed and Kuchiich wants the state to grow it and pass it out equally whether you contribute to society or not.
Stop saying Kuchinich/Paul 2008! You people don't know what you're talking about and it makes you look retarded. Kuchinich is a neo-socialist and Dr.Paul would never run with him. Furthermore, the CFR is a neo-socialist organization not a conservative group. Rockefeller's ideas are similar to Kuchinich's and it won't be long until this guy joins them. Comprehend the things you read on the net, kiddies!
You must have crap on the brain if you believe this load of shit. Have you even researched the CFR?? They wouldn't let in a guy like Kucinich! They're too elitist and globalist.
LOL! So Obama's wife is good enough to be a member but Kucinich isn't? You obviosuly don't know even the basics about the CFR. Before you run you mouth at least do a little research.
Imo Jesse Ventura has a lot of strengths as a candidate that would be great complements to Dennis Kucinich. Ventura is a charismatic straight talking ex-NAvy Seal that pro-gun(I think) but overall still close to center and could draw people that are more right-center and solidify DK's candidacy.
(A DK/Nader ticket would stand less chance of winning and be more likely to hand the presidency to the GOP)
I see your point -- he didn't give an explicit "yes" or "no" answer but I think he answered the question by affirming his position in the Democratic party. I take his response to mean no, he would not run on a third party ticket because his basic and core beliefs are Democratic (that's Democrat-ic) and that's what he considers himself to be.
Ron Paul is telling the truth and thats why he isn't even being given a stage to talk on he isn't being invited to campain cause big business has the money and ron paul wants to change that.We are the richest country in the world and our leaders have been giveing it away on war.learn the truth! Vote Ron Paul.serveing the United States citzen since 1988!
How about a Dennis Kucinich/Jesse Ventura ticket?
To me Ventura has great leadership strenghts that would be a perfect complement to DK, and being a bit more rightwards of some issues might sway people on the center-right?
'Dennis Kucinich is the only sane and humane choice for President.'
I agree Kucinich is by far the best candidate, but I have to give Ron Paul credit for haing the balls to question the Federal Reserve and to apparently ignore threats from the AIPAC. I would love a Kucinich Ventura ticket or a Ventura Kucinich ticket though

Let me offer this explanation of how they are the same.
The problem we face is the Left and right both trying to mandate there way of life to the other.
What works for people in San Franciso probably isn't going to work in Kansas.
They both acknowledge this and would move the government back to level where people are free to govern themselves as they see fit.
All our government is doing now is a back and forth of forcing policies the other side hates. This is what needs to end.

Well I will give you were right about Kucinich's admiration of Ron Paul, which I am a bit shocked to discover. The idea of Kucinich, a man who talks about expanding public education, healthcare, and most importantly ending third world debt, would run with a man who would get rid of public education and health care, and dismantle limits on the free markets that would further third world debt is just a sad proof that dennis isnt as different from the other ruling class lapdogs as i thought he was.
harryD714 3 years ago
In America the term Libertarian is really skewed to the right which is inaccurate
The best traditional definition I can give you is anarcho-syndicalism.
I'd hope you would consider Kucinich's endorsement reflecting well on paul as opposed to badly on Dennis.
I think your dislike of Paul stems from the term free trade used inaccurately to defend corperate facism.
JimboTHC 3 years ago
Yes Corporate Fascism, but more importantly, Third World poverty. And whatever definition of libertarian you give me, I know what Paul's said and how he feels towards social problems, and I've heard him cringe at the idea of a democracy where the problems of one actually are the problems of all. Now seeing Kucinich endorse that makes me doubt whether Dennis really believes in what I thought he did. I apologize for being so hostile before, but I'm so used to hostility on youtube its hard to shake
harryD714 3 years ago
I suppose Roger Calero is really the only candidate I can really stand behind assuredly, Viva Castro, we'll all miss the days when freedom meant something more then getting rid of the IRS
harryD714 3 years ago
Paul's afraid of war because it gives the government excessive power, Kucinich is opposed to war as a pacifist and as someone who finds the corporate influence on foreign policy abhorrent. Paul is against NAFTA because it theoretically hurts America's sovereignty while Kucinich sees NAFTA as promoting unfair free trade agreements that will inevitably outsource American jobs and further promotion of free trade will only destroy the independence and wealth of smaller nations
harryD714 3 years ago 2
I object to how you paint PoliticalcompassDTorg they are a respected non-partisan that uses a respected litmus test.
You concede they are both against NAFTA and both against the War But still choose to write page long diatribes about how they are not on the same page because of your limited definition of a libertarian.
JimboTHC 3 years ago
Is anyone who is not authoritarian a libertarian? Or could that perhaps be a LIMITED definition? What about someone who pursues the cause of liberty for the DISenfranchised, one who sees poverty as a greater anathema than the zeroes on their taxes, one who sees war for the damage it does to the helpless victims and not just those who feel not the need to wipe the blood form their hands? Those who use the state as a tool rather than a sword or an unwanted crutch? Do they fit into your definition?

floridaredhead 3 years ago 2
Local is much more important than presidential elections. Your local representation has a huge influence on who runs caucus's and who can get ballot access.
If you want a party out of federal office it is really easy to get them out at a local level. This is how Evangelicals got a whack job like bush in office.

Ron Paul is not opposite.
Nader, Kucinich, Gravel and Paul are all Libertarians.
Nader, Kucinich and Gravel are left leaning libertarians Paul leans right.
Clinton, Obama and McCain are all authoratarians which is the opposite of a Libertarian.
If Dem vs Republicans is Left and right Authoratarian vs Libertarian is Up and Down on a political square.
JimboTHC 3 years ago
Kucinich isn't a libertarian and neither is Nader. Both Kucinich and Nader are in favor of strict regulatory standards for large businesses , FAIR trade markets, the UN, and interior development through government (i.e public education, healthcare). Kucinich looks at crime as a social problem, looks at racism as embedded in the establishment. In every way Kucinich is not a libertarian. Just because one believes in liberty does not make them a libertarian
harryD714 3 years ago
Actually on a detailed litmus test as shown here

Okay so you're basing your argument on an inaccurate website thats one of many who simplify the complications of political philosophy into a game of four square. Paul believes in LIMITED government, he wants to get rid of most governmental programs. Kucinich is a BIG government candidate. Kucinich would create K-12 public education, Paul would try to eliminate public education. Kucinich would adopt socialised medicine, Paul would get rid of medicare and social security

Dennis he is the only one that would turn this country around if he was elected. It is imperative that he stays in office. ... Look deeply into what is happening in this country.

He was the only congressman who voted against the war in Iraq. ...

Ie. George W. Bush.

Dennis Kucinich is a very intelligent and humble man. But, he was rated 'F' by the NRA, indicating a pro-gun control voting record. Any man in America who wants to take away the inalienable right of any individual to prtoect his or her self simply cannot get my vote. The Founders knew why the People should always keep the right to bear arms, do you?
bwilson32 4 years ago
The Second Amendment was ratified to ensure that the people had a means of preventing a tyrannical leader from coming to power, not the protection from domestic disputes such as burglary. It is to prevent another Adolf Hitler from coming to power. We're just lucky we havn't had to use it for it's real purpose as of now.
