  • Though I don't like that he turned Montoya directly into the wall, I do admire Gilliland for standing up for himself. He didn't like the way Montoya had been banging on his back bumper, so he retaliated. Since then, he and Montoya haven't had any on-track problems, so I guess this dangerous method paid off as far as not messing w/ Gilliland.

  • Wait, did NASCAR ever do anything about it????!

  • These years of the 48 winning these "chase" jokes are awful.

  • are u kidding david is way more bigger and stronger than montoya

  • 2:40 Music name?

  • @Gorinification Wheel in the Sky- Journey

  • @racing202 thank you

  • @Gorinification no problem, you're welcome. It's a great song too. Look it up on here.

  • hm it seems like david gilliland always causes wrecks

  • That's dirty. That's like a safety rule drivers have with each other. As a driver and to your fellow competitors you never get into their right rear quarter panel especially at a fast racetrack. It's one thing to spin someone out by getting into their left rear but when you do it on purpose and hit someone in the right rear that's dirty. Juan Montoya will spin someone out on purpose but he's never spun someone out on purpose by getting into there right rear he knows better

  • its ok yall. they both suck

  • JPM had it coming. He's been pissing people off in the series since day 1. He was wrecked by Ryan Newman at Homestead in 2006.Its was JPM's first race in the series and he was acting like a jerk even then. You should be able to find the Homestead wreck here on youtube. It became known as the Colombian BBQ race because Montoyas fuel cell burst.Good stuff.

  • If you are going to take someone else out, do it right and don't take yourself with them...

  • I think this was the moment Yates ripped up Gillilands 2009 contract for the Cup Series

  • gilliland must be taking lessons from carl edwards

  • I'm no Gililand fan, but I dont like Montoya either.

All the fans he has probably just became NASCAR fans cause of him.

  • david gilliland is a stupid bitch gililand was 2 laps down and montoya was in the 7th position if i see david gilliland i will kick his ass and destroy all cars tht he have stupid gilliland!

  • @RCVAthetanker, I agree. David Gilliland is a piece of shit. The Worst NASCAR driver of all time. How he made it into NASCAR, I have no clue. All Gilliland does is wreck other cars, give himself crappy finishes, etc on a damn race track all day, he is horrible.

  • David Gilliand did this to himself.

  • I'm glad someone finally wrecked Montoya back.

  • Gilliland is a fail. He wrecked JPM and still managed to wreck himself. FAIL

  • theyre both idiots

  • montoya has now been the victim of an idiot wrecking him for payback twice, here, and tony stewart at homestead. if i were montoya, I would have knocked out gilliland

  • gilland is an idiot

  • @snikerscamry18 And is a ASSOLE!!!!

  • @HadesRacing yep

  • the 38 was a lap down lol

id he was on the led lap thats one thing

but he was just in the way

  • haha i was there and ppl were claping when he got wrecked and they all laughed at him when he got stuck

  • You guys are all on the wrong side! That was not only awesome but long overdue. David Gilliland got high fives and tons of respect in the garage for that and I for one applaud David Gilliland and only wish this would've taught Juan Buttlick a lesson. Good work David Gilliland!

  • @snowraceplay Gilliland is a "never was;"a dumb redneck with no class. He never had one percent of Juan's talent. Pulling stunts like this is the only way he can draw attention to himself since he's always at the back of the pack. Last year he finished about dead last in points and it looks like he's in for a repeat performance this year. Gilliland wouldn't last one lap at Monaco, where JPM has won.

  • David Gilliland is a dumbass. He did this stupid shit to Montoya. Not only that, he also caused that stupid wreck at Dover in 08. I agree, he doesn't belong in NASCAR. He sucks. NASCAR should have suspended his ass or give him a very big fine

  • COCKSUCKER

  • david gilligand is an asshole. he deserves a suspension for his dumbass antics on track.

  • This crap that David Gilliland did to Montoya made me hate him. I agree. He is the world's worst driver in NASCAR. I don't know why Yates Racing Signed him. GILLILAND SUCKS!!!!!

  • just think if this were talladega!!!

  • david gilland is just a jerk!

  • if it wasnt for Gilliland winning that Nationwide race or back then Busch race i highly doubt he would have got a ride in cup

  • did anyone see Casey Mears avoid that WOW!!!!!!!!!!

  • How to say Loser,Sucker,Stupid,Idiot well only two words:D-A-V-I-D G-I-L-L-I-L-A-N-D

  • Journey! yay that was awesome!

  • The Worst Nascar Driver Ever Is DAVID GILLILAND Even Stewart said that

  • I dont have a problem with either driver, but I really think that was un called for. I just love the Citi paint job!

  • I have always hated Gilliland and I always will.

  • That's one dangerous high speed track u should not take someone out intentionally.

  • Agreed. Martinsville,Richmond, Bristol maybe New Hampshire you could do it without someone getting hurt. But at high speed racetracks you obviously can't do it.

  • u shouldn't take anyone out intentially regardless of the track

  • Correct, that's way to dangerous of a track be doing.

  • Gilliland lucked into his ride.

  • Yep. He straight-up lucked into his Cup ride with Yates. If he had never won a Nationwide race, he would never have been in Cup.

  • how to spell IDIOT: G-I-L-L-I-L-A-N-D!

  • Gilliland needs to get got, fucking moron!

  • one of the worst drivers in nascar--gilliland.

  • Hehe Montoyas become more americanized, look at the chubby man wadle

  • Rubbins Racing

  • sure..but thats not rubbin

  • gillilands a good driver, sometimes you just lose your temper

  • im a montoya fan and i know sometimes he can be an asshole but that was unnecessary

montoya is still fairly new and hes gonna be a great nascar driver but when bullshit like that happens, it ruins his appearance and his chances for victories

  • i saw this in turn 1

  • gillialand is lucky montoya didn't act like he did towards Harvick at Watkins Glen. Gillilands ass would have been in the ground! lol.

  • thats why gilland is driving part time now

  • atleast david got some damage

  • Comment removed

  • sweet

  • Wow! David must be carefull, that could be 'The Big One'

    Was Montoya ok?

  • i pitted next to gilliland at irwindale at the allstar showdown, hes a good guy. when ur having a tough day and the cars not right, then some guy comes up and starts hammering you off the corner, well then shit happens. gillilands a good guy though.

  • Ok, I personally think Juan Montoya is an AssHole, But damn Gilliland could have killed his ass, He needs to take some anger management classes or something LOL!

  • David Gilliland is just a fucking asshole

  • JPM is a fucking asshole. He has no right to try and wreck the same guy twice in two laps. I will guarantee you Gilliland did that out of frustration. It happens all the time in any sport, including NASCAR.

  • David Gilliand shouldn't be in NASCAR

  • That's exactly what I said about Tony Stewart after he intentionally wrecks. Look where he is now: still in NASCAR. You have no right to say Gilliland doesn't belong in this series.

  • Are you stupid?? Tony is a 2 time cup champion David Gilliand is a field filler with only 2 top fives and 4 top tens. Tony has wrecked people before but nothing like that.

  • Are you stupid?? Field fillers are those guys who are not locked in a race by not being in the top 35 in owner's points. If you had any sense, you'd know that David is safely in the top 35. I understand that Tony is a 2-time champion, but that doesn't mean that David doesn't belong in this series.

  • wtf field filllers are drivers that don't make a difference on the deciding factor of a race and just there to make sure there are 43 cars. Thats what David Gilliand is.

  • No, that's what most of the go-or-go-homers do. Besides, a 2nd-place finish at Infineon proved you wrong. Bad luck has kept Gilliland from getting a lot of good finishes.

  • 1 2nd place. And he got lucky. Harvick spun himself Stewart , Mcmurray thats how he got 2nd. How many top fives does he have? 2 how many top tens? 4. Hes pretty much done nothing in nascar. He lucked his way into cup by winning that nationwide race.

  • At Infineon, it took strategy to get him up there in the running order and driver skill and talent to stay up there. I understand that Harvick took out three or four guys, including himself, but David avoided that using his talent. There was absolutely no luck involved.

  • David has talent don't mean hes one of the best. Every driver ha stalent. But I gotta say David is one of the worst drivers out there def one of the bottom 3.

  • I never said that David was one of the best, but he is definitely not one of the bottom three. If that was so, he wouldn't be anywhere near the top 35 in points.

  • Not true just because hes not outside the top 35 don't mean hes really good. Look whos outside the top 35 Tony Stewart and Clint Bowyer thanks to having new rides (Clint still with rcr just with the 33 now)

  • Clint Bowyer's 33 only made two starts in 2008, so of course he's out of the top 35. As for Tony Stewart, his 14 took the owner points from the 70 from 2008, which was out of the top 35.

  • Maybe Stewart was right about calling Gilliland an idiot.

  • gilliland should wreck greg biffle and carl edwards at phoenix this weekend

  • rofl

  • I'd be cool if he did it to Johnson.

Yates is associated with Roush. He could easily send those Yates cars as missiles but he hit the wrong target!

Montoya has had rough luck and the Dodges kinda suck in general this year. Yates should dump Gilliland and hire Allmendinger.

  • better if he did to kyle bush

  • For some reason when I was watching the race it didn't cut in until after they all left pit road.

  • gilliland is so worthless that he took himself out too, what an idiot

  • montoyas interview was funny, "he was running like 50 laps behind.

  • And I thought Montoya was aggressive! lol

  • David Gilliland is over-ratted. He won one Busch / Nationwide race for an underfunded team. Then Yates signed him. He wasn't ready for cup then and this shows he is not ready now.

If he didn't win that race he would be racing at some short track on a saturday night. Yates should fire David and hire Someone who will at least give them a top-10 of 15 more often. Feel free to Respond

  • Yeah, get someone with ,ummmmmmmm , i forgot what it was called.......... oh yeah TALENT! Yates should get someone with it. I'll bet either of us could drive better than him right?

  • So he wrecks another driver on purpose and now he doesn't deserve a Cup ride? What a joke. Should Stewart not have a ride either after wrecking Kenseth, Edwards and Bowyer back in 2006?

The only drivers in that field who shouldn't have Cup rides are Mears, Waltrip, Hornish, Schrader and the drivers of the 02 and 84 cars.

  • mears deserves a ride. hendrick is just too focused on johnson and gordon

  • Brandon Ash drove the 02 and he didnt make a race and if he made one it was barely i can agree with you on that but

A.J allmendinger in the 84 ran better and better as the season went on until they fired him and he drove the 10 :(

  • Mark Martin has 0 DNFs

Jeff Gordon has 5 DNF's hes having an bad season :(

  • Lets put some of the people in here in one of those heavy ass race cars and see if they dont crash their first corner :)

  • Gilliland has probably wrecked more race cars in 2 seasons than most good drivers like Mark Martin and Jeff Gordon will wreck in their careers

  • I am very Proud of Juan, he has machured greatly, if it was last year or back in F1 days, he would have been fined for his reaction. But Juan has [roven that in the right atmosphere, he can be classy. Good Job Juan. Kotos. (i cant spell)

  • JPM shud have beaten the fuck out of gilliland.NASCAR won't do anything but fine him when they shud kick his ass out of nascar all he does is wreck people and one day he's gonna hurt someone or worse.kick his ass out of nascar or let him get that punk ass whooped.

  • Yeah. Its amazing Montoya can still smile after that incident during that interview. I would have been fuming mad if I was him lol.

  • Wtf are you talking about? Sure Montoya has made his mistakes, but nothing like this bullshit!

  • Okay, I openly admit that I am not a knowledgeable race car driver. So, what I am about to write is probably very stupid. It seems that everyone is in agreement that Gilliland spun out JPM.I look at the video (with my admittedly untrained and bia eyeballs)and I don't see where Gilliland is at fault. It looks to me that JPM came up the track and crossed in front of Gilliland's established line. Can somebody explain technically why this wreck was caused by Gilliland and not by Montoya? Thanks

  • umm dude look at the lines of the lanes on the track.... JPM stayed in his lane- he moved through half a line in a little part of the backstretch. Gilliland was on the top and then he was all the way down into JPM's lane into his car! come on man! don't mell me that was Montoya's fault! if u do, then u must be blind!

  • I know! You could even see Gillamand's tires turn!

  • I am simply asking for a technical (not emotional) ressponse. Your response does not match the video. JPM's car clearly came from the bottom of the racetrack up the track. You say JPM stayed in his lane. And you are calling me blind?

  • Nothing "technical" about it - just obvious.

Here's a clue. The guys you hear talking on the TV, they're called "Commentators". Typically, all sports hire former Professionals in their particular sport to give their opinions as the events unfold. Here's a couple hints...

"looked like it could have been a little payback"

"he'll "gilliland", be in the truck after this race"

"that's a hard lick for Montoya"

"this is not where you want to be doing this"

  • I will admit that that was a stupid move by Gilliland, but Juan Montoya had no right to try to wreck him twice. Juan needs to learn to give other drivers room. Snowraceplay, I'm not mad at him. Orangespaghetti, you're delusional. Get a life.

  • I can't say that I liked what Gilliland did, but Juan must have been REALLY been annoying. Hes known for getting on people's nerves, and I guess he really pushed it.

  • i started having respect for monytoya after the new hamshier accident when he said yea i wrecked kyle bush

  • Ok, after reviewing the video about 10 more times, you guys are right. I am sorry, for judging at first

  • Gilliland thinks he can put himself in the role of Russ Wheeler :)..

He should have been parked for atleast one race after this one...

  • Skippperrrrr, Professor, Ginger, Marianne, Mr./Mrs. Howell could not defend Gilligan. That move was too dangerous.

Let's not forget The Fabulous Harold Heckuba!!

  • And that's why I hate David Gilliland.

  • Gilliland is such an idiot!

  • this y everyone is mad of gilliland

    A. Gilliand takes out Sadler at Dover causing Big Wreck

    B. Gilliland dumped Kenseth at Martinsville, and said it was on purpose

    C. a few other times

    Get Gillialnd to another land!!!

just like what tony stewart said to gilliland...he always gets on the way...

  • Come on Gilliand your a good guy, but that was a boneheaded not to mention dangerous move. I also wouldnt be surprised if Gilliand wouldnt be coming out hear to Phoenix next weekend. Personally I wonder if Jamie McMurray's luck has rubbed off onto Juan

  • 1:14 - i called that reckless driving to spin right towards the wall at 170 mph... people that goes at 190 mph=dangerous!!! would knock someone out in concussion

  • They should park Gilliland for the rest of the year, and about 6 races into next year, i will be very suprised if he even has a ride next week for that crap he pulled.

  • I wish but NASCAR said they have never had promblems with Gilliland and he will get no penatlies hmmm....

    A. Gilliand takes out Sadler at Dover causing Big Wreck

    B. Gilliland dumped Kenseth at Martinsville, and said it was on purpose

    C. a few other times

    Get Gillialnd to another land!!!

  • Especially for an organization looking for sponsors. If I were a sponsor, lets say sometime later in 2009 looking to get into NASCAR and I see this, there is no way in the world I will put my logo with a driver like that, not to mention he doesn't run well when he doesn't have problems. Doug Yates needs to think about that.

  • 1:14 ouch.

  • I'm a believer that rubbin is racin but i just dont agree with putting a guy in the wall when he gives you a little love tap to let you know he's there

  • i am so happy i saw this in person.

  • David Gilliland is a piece of shit for that move and can rot in hell...totally uncalled for! They should suspend his ass.

  • woo look at the 5 car slip thru there! man gilliland handled that situation WAY the wrong way. Montoya barely even touched him, and he turns him HEADFIRST into the wall going 170 mph, thats dangerous! he shud be given a hefty fine, and possibly even suspended!

  • why did gilliland do that,he should touch doors to say why did you did that, but he did the wrong thing what he did

  • > "look at how many times Montoya has wrecked someone on purpose, and has never been parked"

    I call bullshit.

Montoya was parked at New Hampshire.

  • Ok, so one time? Out of how many times? I dunno just NASCAR needs to do something about their rules on people taking people out, and stick to em. I didn't watch the New Hampshire race, so you found one race, thanks for finding that for us.

  • I'm a 100% racing fan, and i can tell you that Juan (as a rookie) hit some people, but you have to see that he just came from driving 1334 lbs cars to drive a 3820 lbs, at high speeds you feel the difference, if you see all the wrecks but 1 that he got with other people were mistakes that every rookie does in any kind of racing series.

This season Juan has drive more like a NASCAR drive than a rookie open wheeler, and Kyle Bush deserve to be hited by Juan in NH

  • correct, only onces for montoya

  • this was totally uncalled for i mean seriously. and a comment made by someone from a chatroom that said gilligand should get the "good hands move of the race" was also mean and uncalled for, although it was a little funny but still mean. although montoya has had his share in mishaps he never went that far. bad move on gilligands part.

  • Gilliland - - Grow up, seriously!

  • i dont like montoya at all, but what david gilliland did there was a dick thing to do

  • gilliland is an idiot and shouldn't be on a cup car. i wonder why Yates chose him.

  • lol.

  • Because he won one Nationwide race and everyone thinks he's such a big shot. He never should have been hired to drive the #38 car, as he has done absolutely nothing in that ride other than tear the cars up.

If I were Doug Yates, I'd be looking for another driver next season.

  • neither of them have had that great a season as far as top 5 or 10s go and Montoya is 25th in standing David Gilliland is 27th neither one is doing much

David Gilliland has 8 DNFs. DNFs Montoya has 9.

and its nascar tempers are gonna flare. it doesnt make gilliland any less of a driver with the level of competition this year its hard to get a solid top 10.

Montoya has one win but at a road course and hes road course expert aces and gilliland has finished 2nd on a road course this year

  • shit like that can kill someone

  • yeah

  • At least when Montoya intentionally wrecked Kyle Busch, 1) it was under caution and not at speed, and 2) he had the balls to come right out and say he wrecked him--none of this "misjudged" crap.

  • man i know david was in a tough spot with his interview later on but damnit dude fess up, we all know you did it on purpose. it was blatently obvious. im glad nascar parked him. that move on juan really pissed me off and its a shame, because poor montoya has been running excellent as of late and shit like this shouldnt happen, im very dissapointed in david. hes a good driver and a great talent but thats just uncalled for.

  • That was completely uncalled for..Montoya had a great car and that Jackass decided to wreck him i hope he does a Scott Riggs soon. Whatever "Respect" i had for David Is now ALL LOST!!.

  • after this, David Gilliland said he misjudged it, well if you misjudge it that much, you shouldnt be racing in the Spring Cup Series. like gadgefan48, i have lost a lot of respect for David.

  • That was a bad move by Gilliland... and again i feel bad for JPM.. David will probably not have a ride after this.. when you wreck someone you dont make it that obvious.. at least do it it the turn..

  • I have lost all respect for David Gilliland. I hope NASCAR parks his butt for Phoenix, we don't have room for that bs in this sport.

  • yea that was a bonehead move on davids part...theres other ways to payback other then that...

  • you said it, that could have hurt him. i dont really like "One Problem Montoya" but, David is an ass. =)
