  • great vids! very functional skill sets...

  • Cool Vid and your others as well. Basic Survival is a must. I love them E-Trenching tools. I've had to make a few shelters with them as well. Being in the Armed Forces for over 20 years and been thru Mountain Warfare and SERE, these vids are perfect for the beginners-

  • More surivial videos from you! Would really appreciate it!

  • What's a better knife the ka-bar heavy Bowie or the Ontario sp10 marine raider?

  • Hey Nutn! What type of boots do you use on these snow hikes? But also hikes that dont involve snow?

  • Worst thing about your videos is that it makes me want to get a lab again really bad. No better hiking dog than labs, especially black labs. Love your videos! Keep up the great work!

  • A pair of extra gloves?. . .Yeah We're in the Rockies :D

  • Sooner or later you dudes are going to cut your fingers off when trying to split wood with a knife and a log. The engery both of you used up holding the log while cutting would be better spent on making a simple trestle to hold the log for you and you need to keep cutting wood to feed the fire, so the trestle is worth making. If you cut strips of old bicycle inner tube, they make great fire lighters. You are so close to breaking that saw blade, bad sawing technique.

    WD40 sucks as a lub.

  • looks like fun i use a 2foot machete to split wood like that it works good and it caust about 5 bucks at the flea market

  • a whole video of shovleing snow

  • this guys a huge douchebag

  • watch the whole thing, well cool, u guys should do tours,

  • Spelling edit to last post: Allie* :P

  • I agree, this is probably my favorite series you've ever done. It's just so peaceful and happy. I keep coming back to it once in a while, though I've been out of the loop lately...How is Ally doing? Recovering well enough to keep doing this? Been praying and hoping when it comes to mind once in a while. Anyway, keep them coming. :]

  • I think this is still one of your best vids.. Making fire in snow.. the serie!! Its great to go out in the woods with a good friend and learn nature!! And girl friend Allie of course!! I hope she is doing well by now!!? All the best to you!! and i really hope that time changes for the better for all us people!!

  • Lol good ol' nutfancy. Huge knives stuck in trees, strapped on your waist, etc. Thats what I like to see.

  • dead ... not too dead LOL

  • With so many comments, somebody already musta asked why the dog's feet don't seem to freeze. I'm only 5 minutes into the vid, right now, so maybe you'll tell us if/what you do for the pup's paws ... I mean ... if yer gloves are crusting up ? I'm sure it's all good ... just kinda wondering, 's-all.

  • yay! 365 comments! btw walking old man listen to 15:50 to 16:00

  • why did u have ur .22s?

  • awww, such a cute doggy

  • cool survival skill videos,i also make survival videos!!1

  • That dog is awesome

  • Is this the same pack because I was wondering how you packed your .22 in there?

  • Does anyone know what type of hiking pad he's using?

  • @GunsandBullets25 I can't tell you the name but I have one and I like it a lot. is very cheap and good. You can find it in Campmore. is the only one that you "fold "not "roll". hope it helps...

  • When he was talking about the snow on the lean-to, nutn wouldn't have to worry so much because he said, in his building the shelter video, the back was the east. so when the sun comes up it will melt all the snow off.

  • exellent

  • lol great video nut. your dog is awesome she is so cute, i would love to take my dog along for an adventure of some type. but he is a great dane and would never go for it lol he sleeps 20 hrs a day haha.

  • One of the best survival kit items - a hiking buddy. If these two guys were lost, that shelter is not too large, but would cover both the guys comfortably. One guy works on shelter, the other works on a fire reflector. Plus, the firewood would be the same amount needed, but this time gathered by two, not one. Also, probably lower risk of injury as you have someone to help lift heavier stuff, and generally watch your back.

  • "wheres yours queer?" haha hilarious

  • @TheAlexrice you make no sence

  • @Millard97 nutn says it when he talks about his knee pads

  • hey when you get lost those the dog tell you how to get home??? and how can i train my dog like that

  • 5:21 very pretty

  • haha!, thats the wrong way DOG :DD so hilarious :D

  • Nothing hard about snow fire. Like someone said before, how about fire during a storm or rain with high winds? Lets see, ya go out with thousand dollar worth of gear and make a fire in calm conditions? Hell, any idiot can do that.

  • @WalkingOldMan Agreed. I just saw a documentary about 4 guys hiking in South America @ 8,000 ft. Snow being blown by 50mph -90mph winds and they built a leanto and couldn't get a fire started even with a lighter. 3 died and the survivor had video footage from the ordeal. Their frustration with a leanto and trying to start a fire was just sad as the camera shots of them dying one by one from the elements and trying to keep the snow and wind out of the leanto even after they put a front on it..

  • @WalkingOldMan Yes, let's go criticize people on the internet to make ourselves feel awesome!! YEAA Everyone's a fag and doesn't do (insert topic) correctly! You suck!!

  • Nutnfancy Sucks!... Joking

Thumb up if you wanted to kill me before you saw ¨joking¨

  • @Petegrin1 cheater!lol

  • Ok ok ok, hypothetically speaking, what if some type of civil war started and all the racists started shooting everyone. I was forced to run to the rocky mountains in less then 24 hours after the war started, i live in denver colorado, about 30 minute walk to the base of the mountains. How would i survive and what could i bring. I have a normal sized back pack and not much survivalist stuff. I think peanut butter, water, cloths, lighters, knife, and blanket would be enough. What u guys think ???

  • @SAMSIZZLE123 Lighters don't work when wet. You'd need some kind of cover, tent, tarp etc. as well. Just a blanket wont do. How about a way to boil water? Do you know how to set traps and skin animals? How about a small fishing kit? What kind of knife? How about a saw? Cloths? Are those the right cloths? Rain gear? Cloths for cold temps?

  • @markshmily I have cold temp cloths and panchos. Fishing would be good. I have some powerful guns so not worried about hunting stuff. I'm not a survivalist but im getting interested in it. Seems pretty cool.

  • @SAMSIZZLE123 I am not a survivalist either.. but I love to get outdoors and go day hiking and I plan to go backpacking/camping this Spring.. as soon as it stops freakin raining.

  • @SAMSIZZLE123 gun

  • Awesome man! I do alot off hiking witch my friends and dog aswell!

  • How about a real life situation. Pocket or no knife. Instead of zero climate which for you wannabee survivalists-is dry. Street clothes and shoes. Go make a fire in wet conditions like blowing slopping snow or heavy rains and a book of common matches or no matches. Anyone can make a shelter, fire and gather some food if supplied everything in these vids that's carried, only thing not in the picture is the kitchen sink, stove and premade pop in the oven pizza.

  • @actonbath Can you show us ? looking forward to see your vid's!

  • @actonbath Even with the here given tools, most people couldnt survive, I guess. But as timmaastricht said, (hey, that guys is nearly my neighbor) if you got skill, teach us some!

  • @actonbath What you describe is nothing of a "real life situation" imho. How could you get into a "oh-damn-i-only-got-my-underwear" survival situation? Right, it doesnt happen. How should it? The only way to get into such, is by not being prepared. If you go on a hike without a knife and matches or a lighter, thats stupid. If you loose your gear, thats stupid. Stupidity is the only way to get into such a situation. Therefore I prefer these vids that are way closer to a realistic scenario imho.

  • @Xerubim I think the point he was making is that these film are not real conditions stupid. Underwear? , hell that was pure sarcasm. You ever been in the bush during a storm? Even this lean-to is a waste of time to build, lean-to is for Boyscout campouts during summer and stupid films like this one. Go ahead, make a lean-to in your backyard and when it rains or snows, goodluck staying dry or warm or protect your fire, any half-wit knows that.

  • @WalkingOldMan You have nothing of an argument touching the points he or I made. But of course you can insult me. Grow up an learn how to discuss, "old man". He was talking about gear that you carry, and not about weather conditions. These arent too bad, obviously. But thats not the issue.

  • @Xerubim Title of the video isn't "Gear you carry for firemaking in the snow" .....Learn how to read.

  • @WalkingOldMan Really? What a surprise. But the discussion was exactly on that topic. So why dont you stop commenting on my posts, when you are even to ignorant to check out what they refer to, first?

    This is ridiculous...

  • @WalkingOldMan your just an ass. i have been camping for almost five years and the lean to only failed me once. get out and smell the shit you are doing (and clean it up!) you dw

  • @actonbath How about showing is some of those skills?

I see you made this video two weeks ago and not ONE uploaded video yet? I hope the editing is going well.

  • Thanks so much for the vids you make! I finally took some initiative and went out in the woods today and made a fire. It was only 27* in NE Ohio with about 1-2 inches of snow on the ground, but I learned a thing or two that you only learn by doing. I had to use a kleenex to start it because we're out of cotton balls from when I made my dad a level 1 first aid kit for Christmas. Thanks, dude, you rock!

PS my Kershaw Skyline came in handy for the small tinder. Wonder where I heard about that.. :)

  • @PrinceValorum i tried the dog (snow) plow. it worked!

  • Good Job guys... I'll save my critique for the the last show.... Looking good so far.

    Cheers.

  • skip to part 4 if you want to see the firemaking...

  • "she's not dumb, notice that she.. well kind of dumb.." hahaha^^

  • hey waht is the name on the bag on the dog :) where did you buy it :)

  • thanks for making these firemaking series and showing that the largest portion of the work is actually gathering and processing the wood rather lighting the fire itself. i will show this video to the boy scouts back home and hopefully they will learn something! :)

home is the beautiful island of Cyprus, and even we don't get much snow we must always be prepared!

  • We had a blk lab mix, name of CJ. She went with us every were camping fishing. she even slept in the tent. Then someone stole her out of the dog kinle we asked the pound and our naigbor no one had her.

  • This is awesome,, I love dark..

  • How did you train the "What is that!?" and other commands for your dog? Very cool.

  • i was real excited when you used my pictures in your condor vest review. You motivate me to leave the city and get out to the wilderness. The TNP project is awsome, and you should continue doing what you do. I would like to see some new shirts soon, I wear mine with pride. I am glad you take the time to share your experience, and i have learned a lot.

  • you should to a table top of the glock spade

  • Awesome!!

Looks like a lot of fun.

As soon as I get some winter gear I wanna try winter camping.

  • hahaha "where's yours queer" i love your videos

  • WOOL! I took a 100% wool blanket out camping-high desert-very impressive. Very warm , along with wool socks and wool long undies-nice.

  • love to see you rockn the z lite! is that an extra pad?

  • My top of choice is a Marlboro vest made of woven wool on the outside, and felt in the inside : double layer, and it is quite waterproof, you can shake off the droplets/snowflakes.

  • my grandparents have doxens (Skipper and Gator for Navigator) and we go "Skipper ,Gator, is that a squirrel?!?! " and they go crazy, they also chase the crows away from the bird food. by the way i find all of your nature survival videos fascinating, i'm just 15 but my mom and i have gone camping every summer for 11 years in a row and i have a passion for this kind of thing. thanks so much for making these videos! i wish that some time soon (or ever) i could be as skilled as you two are.

  • Hey Nutn, I've been watchin your videos for over a year now. I first found them because I was planning a winter camping trip and I found this video, "Fire Making in the Snow." I enjoyed it so much it inspired me to take my camera along and document our trip. I'm starting to plan this years winter camping trip and it got me reminiscing, I thought I'd drop by to say thanks for the inspiration! I'll attach our winter adventure as a Video response. Keep up the good work Nutn!

  • Excellent one

  • my dog does the same thing if i say " whats that" or "whos there" he jus goes crazy

  • my dog does the same this if i say " whats that" or "whos there" he jus goes crazy

  • Know this is an old video but thanks for posting this. You both gave a lot of good tips. Me and my buddy are planning a winter camp out here in PA. We will look like city slickers compared to you all but thanks for the tips!

  • i was camping in the snow and just brought some oil with me and dumped in the fire pit and used my flint and there u go fire in the snow in just 10 minutes haha

The "Ally Gear" made me laugh.

Thanks for a good vid set

  • Cute dog. :D

  • That lean to wouldn't hold where i live. T.T (Vermont, Usa)

  • Hey Nutn, just noticed you didn't have your barrel covered on your .22. Just pop a condom on there w/ a rubber band or some cordage. Problem solved, keep the moisture out of the inside of your weapon. I'm sure you already know that, just noticed some snow on the top of your barrel when you got to camp.

  • your still a queer though lol great vids 15:20

  • i miss buggetnuster.

  • buggetnuster! halarious!

  • I watched all 4 parts of this and have these comments:

Seeing you guys work your butts off for at least 1 hour (likely more) I have to ask why not bring a ~10lb electric chainsaw and a few spare batteries. You could have done all that cutting in about 20 minutes instead and had better results.

Also... I have no idea why you didn't collect tinder and small wood from the surrounding area, you wasted a good amount of your "long burn" wood transforming it to kindling (wasted effort).

  • For you guys who think this aint real i got snow all over the camera broham lol

  • Another great video, love watching your videos Nutnfancy. Thank you for taking the time to do these, I know its gata be a lot of work.

  • i do this all the time but i live in fl so it just gets cold :( i would hate this in the summer

  • That doggy's a little snow plow hahaha

  • If westrn civilization ever broke down me and my friends are confident we can survuve thanks to you!

  • I always miss my dog so much while watching Allie the mountain dog. My dog was a Black lab/Pitbull mix named Cujo (nothing like the movie) He was an awesome dog.

  • Nutnfancy may have briefly mentioned it in one of his videos but since I only have time to watch bits and pieces of the longer ones, how does he like the Jansport carson? I'm waiting for mine to arrive in the mail and would like his take on it.

  • hi im 56 yr old lady stroke survivori live in nova scotia. i likeyo ur video. cute dog i have a little monkey i take in the woods with me. i don't travel as far nor as fast as i used to but i still get out there. i always have powder hot choc its gr8 in cool weather. u 2 look like u have alot fun tog like my sis & I.......2 old ladies playing in the woods. love it......thx karen

  • @cougarbahia cool at your age you still are out there hiking in the woods. i like this nutnfancy guy too. i make adventure vids in the forest of mt hood. kind of like this guy but martial arts too. take a look

  • allie looked funny as hell in her coat lmao

  • Buggetnuster is a CRACKIN ASS name!!! 20 STARS 4 that 1!!! PEACE!!

  • This is much more entertaining than one would expect a camping trip video to be. Just out of curiosity, what area was this shot in? Love that you brought the dog by the way. Do you have to put those little booties on her feet so they dont get frostbite? Or is she ok without them? I live in the south, don't know much about dog/snow gear. Also, what are the .22's for? I'd take a .44 if I was going to the mountains, but that's just me :)

  • buggetnuster HAHAHAHAHA

  • What a view and what a nice dog :D She really seems to like the snow ^^

  • The dog is fine. Do not chase her away......

  • Comment removed

  • Doesn't the pooch get frost bite on her feet pads? She is amazing.

  • very entertaining of course i have had a bottle of wine :)

  • you should do more vids of hiking and goin outdoors

  • allie is great!

  • "DUDE this rocks" yup that line says it all mate had a great time here un the UK this Jan (2010)

ok we only had 16 inches but what a great 3 days ,hope you get a chance to check out our videos too

    ATB Actionman.

  • Bugget should be in all TNP videos. True star potential.

  • still a queer though... haha

  • hell i live in it..

  • A point that come up at 10"35 mins is that you learn by doing, you learn about what works. One thing I found is that I also learn more about myself and what I can do compared to what I thought I could do.

God sure must love me, when I think of the times I almost got myself into serious trouble!

  • what is up with buggets facial expressions at 2:11 XD

  • ROFL u like turn the cam on u dog and heys got that rain thing on hehehe

  • i like ur adventures, wih i could do it to

  • Would a military surplus folding E-Tool be good fro the purpose as well?

  • you know, you two remind me of me and my friend Ron. we do this stuff all the time. well not in a place as beautiful as that but in our local woods. its pretty cool. but really keep up the good work...

  • love the dogs clothes, lol.

  • buggetnuster lol

  • Love your videos dude, i allways learn something when i watch them :)

Keep up the good work :)

  • hey nutn in the part of your vid where you guys are at the knife clinic site, and you touch on the fact that a lot of guys need snowmobiles and whatnot to get up there, I couldn't agree with you more. There is NOTHING that beats a trek up into the snowy mountains after a fresh snow with 2+ feet of powder below you, enjoying the quiet serenity of nature. Going loud on fast, noisy, and polluting snowmobiles can never top that.

  • Hey, Nutnfancy i am watching your video right now and i realize that it was exactly a

year ago when you made it, is 20 dec. 2009 now!. the vid. is part 1 making fire in snow!!

What is better than go out in de woods with a good longtime friend and a good dog !!

Ilove all your vids. i hope you are still filming in 2010!!

  • u guys r jst gr8

  • hey what do reccomend for real cheap winter gear.? i'm talking food, ruck, clothing, ect...

  • sad there is no snow in mexico

  • her name was Shela

  • I'm sorry. :(

I had a chocolate lab named Lucy but she's passed on too. - Veri (Nutn's sister)

  • @nutnfancy: Did you have a Peg & Line trap video that you recently deleted..I cant seem to find it?

  • @nutnfancy when the vid said that the camera wasnt picking up sound good at times it turned it up all the way i heard nutn yell sumthin and it scared me and my iguana he loves nutnfancy videos so keep it up

  • is your dog a black lab

  • She is, indeed. -- Veri (Nutn's sister)

  • you are a great dog owner.

    Thanks for the vids,

    Sirjacobthe8

  • NUTN,

How do you keep grizzlies and other predators away from the campsite when you stay the night out there?

  • he mentions that a lil i think, keep food up high and away from the camp. and use the dog, it is a nice buffer. in the worst case you can use the dog as a martyr, letting the dog go loose on whatever threatens you. like cops in some cases

  • Cool, thanks.

  • Haha, that dog is awesome. She looks like she loves the outdoors.

  • how large are the packs you usually use?

4000 cu in? 5000 cu in?

  • im 12 and i love being outside i have a dog but alas shes not strong enough or big enough to handle cold weather and snow.

    Love the videos 5/5

  • cody - that's ok, you keep her warm and snuggly inside and when you get in from roughing around outside, she will give you tons of love. I have a hairless dog and he's not very good outside either! -- Veri (Nutn's sister)

  • That dog is having a blast. What a great life you are giving her.

  • These are great vids....my son would rather watch these than the crap on tv. Thanks and keep up the good work.

  • Smart kid! You're doing something right =)

  • Love your dog! and your videos! Thanks

  • ROFL... nice face plant. Love the videos. Thanks for taking the time to do them!

  • u have a gr8 dog. its clear u show her alot of love and attention. again, nutn, u r awesome. kepp up mthe very good work!
