The Wakita tornado I filmed was an Ef3, this one seemed to have the same strength, must have not done any EF3 damage to any buildings in the areas where it was at it's strongest.

Nobody here has any idea how badly I want to see one of these with my own eyes. I live in Gurnee, IL and last night I thought I was going to get my chance as we were under a tornado warning and the elements looked as though it was the real deal.

I live im Elmwood Illinois. i was in my room when the wind started picking up and i went outside and poof there it was a kinda big tornado.

I bet stormchasing is a blast! I live in yates city and my family live in elmwood. All I can say is that it was a trip I dont ever want to take again! I think I would rather be out on the roads chasing them than being in my basement waiting for it to hit!

I also got footage that night in Kankakee County, IL that night of 3 different touchdows. Most of the footage I got was on Route 115 SW Of Kankakee, IL

and i am so glad there was no tornado here, but i was still terrified when i heard this on the news

Update: The National Weather service reported this tornado was an EF2. I was driving at the time of touchdown, and it actually touched down at 7:56pm cst, about 2 and 1/2 minutes earlier than I thought or saw, but i was at a fair distance away so i could only really see the condensation funnel and i'm sure the tornado was on the ground before i could see it. It was an amazing tornado that sadly caused substancial damage, and @tizyfan14, i am glad to hear no one was hurt.

I was on this exact cell... I was on the bears cage on W Southport Rd. near Elmwood. What a photogenic cell with one of the most incredible wall clouds I have ever seen!!

I heard during this outbreak, there were 48 tornadoes reported. I wasn't far from tihs, but we didn't get any tornadoes. Just some thunder. But the clouds were black-very black.

that storm was nuts...didnt really get any wind but it poured buckets here in pissoria,,after it passed elmwood it dropped another by the grand prairie mall and it headed towards radnor road.if it woulda stayed on the ground it woulda shredded pioneer parkway

it sucked last night in central IL we were luckily not hit but 5 tornados touched down in armington hopedale and a few other places

this tornado did some pretty hard damage. its a shame really, Elmwood was a pretty town. We could see the storm that the tornado was forming in from our back pourch in Hanna City O.O

we were watching a movie and the weather reporters interupted

and said a tornado watch in Elwood IL and in Lowell Indiana but in Chicago where I live there were no tornado but only backlash only high winds and other places its just that it was a lot of places

Wow great footage. I saw WGN news late last night , Jim Ramsey said another tornado ripped through Streator towards Kankakee about 10pm. Huge red cell on the radar with purple in it. Tornados at night are nasty. Doesnt seem fair. I wonder if that wind farm off I55 got hit.
