@AgrivatedKillah Excellent. Hopefully a independent like Chafee will be able to work with both Democrats and Republicans, and do good things for Rhode Island.

Tea baggers are not diverse. They are fat & old. Or they are young & fall back on Father Knows Best instead of Think For Yourself.

Obama is gonna help build the Republican party with his garbage cap and trade and his socialist public health care and all his wasteful pork spending.
America is waking up and really seeing that Obama is a radical socialist democrat!
Theres nothing''socialist about obama,if anything he is ''centrist'' like Bill Clinton, let me just say this,Obama has a lot of problems to deal with right now so its a little bit early to start being critical with his agenda by calling him ''socialist and ''bleeding heart'',what about Reagan,Bush 41s ''big government conservatism',if you think that government was small under Reagan, Bush or Bush jr you are seriously mistaken
if obama was a hard call radical he would of not chosen Hillary Clinton as secretary of state, many of the problems America has is mostly Bush43s fault,he wasted Clintons surplus on tax cuts, you should come to Australia,Australia is one of the few countries at the moment thats avoiding the recession,of course some australians are feeling the pinch but we are doing comparitively better than most of the world because of the mining boom
i take it your a republican, thats cool the GOP actually has a proud history of anti slavery, fiscal responsiblity and freedom for all including gays, past GOP prersidents believed in those values like Ford, Nixon, Eisenhower,if they were to be alive today they would be disgusted at what the Republican party has become
i just wish the GOP would be more inviting of moderates,if the party keeps rejecting moderates or independant voters then the partys only going to decline, why do you think moderates are defecting to the democrats or becoming independants, its because the GOP is no longer a broad church, thats why Arlen Spector quit the party ,thats why there are only two republican moderates left in the senate
I tend to disagree i felt left out of the Democratic party in Pa when i ran for State office.
I think Spector got scared when he voted for that huge pork bill.
He is only worried about himself not the people of PA.
I think it will be interesting come 2010 we will find out if people still reject the GOP i tend to think people will vote for them if they campaign on less government issues.
That is the only way the GOP can win less government and less pork and less taxation.
Any political party must be a broad church that accepts differing points of view about social matters, economic matters, even rudy Guiliani said that''hot button issues like gay marriage, abortion should not define the republican party'',i think he is right,if your pro choice your immediately labelled as a RHINO,even though you may have a strong record when it comes to other republican principlas like less government.
i think the mid term elections are going to be close, but it depends on whether obama passes his health care reform agenda, I hear sarah palin is possibly running for president in 2012 after quitting the governship, whats your thoughts on this?
the medicare tax would have to go up but i dont think obama would want to tax middle or working class voters to pay for it if there is a tax increase to pay for Obamas agenda it would most likely be a tax imposed on the wealthiest Americans,i know you disagree me on this but people like Bill Gates dont need tax breaks, just because a millionaire pays more in tax doesnt mean that he or she cant live a good life, sometimes te wealthiest have to help thier country
i think sarah palin is a nice person, i mean she seems fascinating,i mean a hockey mum who shoots moose,if she wants to ber president she is going to have to run a ''reaganesque'' campaign and run with a positive image, she would have to appeal to independants and moderates who i think make up most of the electorate, but somehow i dont see this happening
ive being doing a little bit of research, the best republican candidate that would of had ''half a chance'' of beating Obama in 2012 would of been ''John Huntsman Jr'',governor of utah is has shifted more to the center,i also like the fact that he is a fan of Dream Theater ,one of my favorite progressive bands
If Obama keeps all the spending up and keeps on governing like a socialist i think almost anyone will beat him don't forget America is still very much center right.
i take you word for it but lets hope Obama succeeds in general,Americans dont need big fat idiots like Rush Limbaugh telling people that he hopes Obama fails, the rest of the world is largely in obamas hands now and its up to him to make a difference in the world, whether your conservative or liberal you want your president to succeed
what do you think obama should be doing instead of trying to stimulate the economy with stimulus bills,do you think that cutting taxes is the answer, the quesstion is if youve inherited one of the worst financial crises in 70 years, how do you turn it around?
which republican candidate would you like to see run in 2012?,please dont say Mike Huckabee,America doesnt need another right wing extremist than Bush
Ron Paul,i ve heard of that guy and he is a civil libertarian, one of the few republicans who oppose the death penalty.the guys apparently in his 70s so that disqualifies him,who knows where the world economy will be in 4 years from now, hopefully your national debt would be taken care of, one of the few countries which is doing it less tough is my country Australia,we are doing much better than most advanced economies because the mining boom in china enchanced Australias economy
i think when you have life long republicans like susan eisenhower endorse obama i think that shows how out of touch the republicans are, they have lost thier way, theres this perception that they dont care about poor people and i think that shows in thier ''voodoo economics'',apparently theres this rumour that mccain didnt vote for Bush in 2000, i wouldnt be surprised if he didnt
I think you try to label people as "extremists" only because they oppose abortion or gay marriage. I would say gopers like Specter, Collins or Snowe are extremists in my book because they support war. I would say Obama is an extremist because he is running a budget deficit bigger than french, spanish and italian GDP, and he does it borrowing from workers in Asia
Is not new: when Reagan carried 49 of 50 states in 1984 he lost is D.C. 20 to 80%. Affirmative action and racial-oriented policies only have made people more dependent
Strong majority of white people? A strong majority is the 90% of blacks that vote for ANY democrat against ANY republican. And if they have to choose between two democrats of different color (Hillary vs Obama) 90% will vote for the darker one. A 80 years old Arlen Specter will win in Philadelphia for the first time in his life only because of the (D)
Since Barry is just Bush 2.0. His policies are practically the same, some even more destructive.
When Barry, Pelosi, Barney Frank, and Harry are done with America, the Bush years will look like a paradise.
When uber progressives/liberals take control, it doesn't take long for the pendulum to swing the other way. Problem is, both parties still suck and most republicans are not really for less government now.
You whip out "Dubya" like it's a six-shooter so I return volley with a "Slick Willie": good luck with THAT! But I prefer to talk about how things are NOW vice what someone not even in office HAS done. The national debt is currently running at $ 6,035,551,122,454 and counting! Has your Obama stigmata healed yet or are you still talking in tongues and praying 5X daily toward the east (Washington)?
Neolibs... welfare mothers... baby killers... socialists... tax cheats... draft dodgers... crooks... I can think of several names to call Democrats, too. Ever wonder why their icon is the ASS? Keep believing you voted for "change" or you "won" something over the Republicans. Believe the Big Lie while daily you lose a little bit more free enterprise and, soon enough, your freedoms with every swipe of the Obama pen while you drink your Victory Gin. Who's marching "lock step" now?
Opposition is one thing. Blindly saying "no" without coming up with something better is irrelevant. If you dislike something, come up with something better
Look at some european governments: they are doing nothing, besides controlling public spending, protecting banking deposits and lowering some taxes. This is a crisis caused by too much spending, borrowing and bebt by governments, companies and consumers. So is much better to let liquidate malinvestment (aka doing nothing) than promoting more of the same: more borrowing and debt and punish savers to force them consume. That will lead to a much worse crisis.
The first think to do is to stop calling them the GOP, it's to cuddly. Call them neocons, republicams, whatever but the GOP is a smart rebranding to take them away from the Bush era. They have never to be included in government. Never consulted. The democrats have to show that they can do this themselves. Let the Reps kll themselves but the Dems must never throw them a lifeline. I know that. It is not a grand old party, it is an old conservative institution. By calling them the gop you run the risk of people forgetting what they were. It's happened elsewhere
Is true. US federal government has become so incredibly big that no conservative should be back to the White House. Let the liberars make this country look like Zimbabwe
"Privatize everything and adopt a PURE capitalist system"
So we should re-introduce slavery (ie. no minimum wage)? We should allow people to make, sell and purchase nuclear missiles? We should have no national military (only the rich would have private armies, the public would have no defense)?
Free market capitalism rejects war. Bush and Obama´s corporatism loves it. Think about it: the only real "asset" that allows the US dollar to keep being the world reserve currency is strong military and being world gendarme. US government will run $1 Trillion deficits until 2019, according to Congress, endlessly borrowing from foreign workers and robbing middle classes wealth. You are done
jkerouac, some states are more conservative others less.some are religious fanatics, most aren't. right now, their visable representatives like foxx, cantor, schmitt, bachmann, boner(oops, boehner) make the g.o.p. a j.o.k.e.
As long as the Republicans keep right-wing crazies run their party like Glen Beck, Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh, the party is going to be as popular as the KKK.
The republicans will perceive t change. They will come back. America do not be complacent. Kill them while they are now weak. If you think that they are gone, just look at the UK and see how they have come back there. It is still possible for a wolf to wear sheeps clothing to survive
