  • he said he was an ABC. actually he says that a lot XD. now. WHAT DOES ABC STAND FOR???? HM?? XD tehee. american born CHINESE. hey leehom, my amazing chineseeee buddy XD

  • @beingme119 or Australian born chinese, like me :)

  • @beingme119 have u ever heard ABT? ugh. abc is just easier to say.

  • @choc0lee his originally from mainland, you fool. just because he currently resides in taiwan doesn't make him taiwanese. Its like saying someone who lives in hong kong is hong kong-ese or some shit like that.

  • @MissLurvelyB His parents were born in Taiwan.

  • @MissLurvelyB he's originally from AMERICA. don't call me a fool. i am almost CERTAIN that hong kong people also like to say they're from hong kong, not china. is that ok? go hate on them then.

did i say he wasn't chinese????????????????????????????

  • SHUT THE FUCK UP, hes chinese. END OF FUCKING STORY.

  • luv tata <3

  • You guys do know that his ancestry comes from Zhejiang, China. He's not actually Taiwanese-Chinese. He's mainland-Chinese 0_o

  • @laaybaybee yea but his parents grew up in Taiwan. He has grown up with Taiwanese culture/family/traditions...because his parents did too. It's more of a culture thing. His grandparents r in taiwan. So either they probably emigrated to Taiwan *or were born there.

If we go by what you say, then 98% of Taiwanese people are mainland-chinese...there are very few aboriginal Taiwanese people (2%).

Am I mainland chinese too even though I've been to China once and Taiwan over 20 times?

  • @choc0lee If you've been to Taiwan more than China, it doesn't make you Taiwanese. I'm Chinese, I've never been there.

My parents are Chinese from Vietnam, two of my grandparents were born in Vietnam & the other two were born in China that grew up in Vietnam. Excluding my mom being a quarter Vietnamese, it doesn't make me Viet.

Leehom does have many relatives in China right now, it's just his grandmas that are currently lives in Taiwan. The other grandma lives in Rochester w/ his parents.

  • @laaybaybee Well with Vietnam, it's different. Your parents were probs part of a chinese community-if your parents had Vietnamese traditions and still called themselves chinese then you'd have a good point.

BUT I think Taiwanese and Chinese cultures are different. Can you deny that? I'm not a pro-independence person so I'm not gonna tell you that Wang Lee Hom is taiwanese and not chinese. But I don't appreciate it when people don't acknowledge that he has a Taiwanese heritage.

  • @laaybaybee The point that i was trying to make is that I would feel more familiar with Taiwan than China...that alone makes me Taiwanese rather than mainland Chinese....

  • Comment removed

  • @laaybaybee haha i didn't flag your comment as spam! seems like someone else did! anyways, what you're doing now is exactly what I dislike-You are ignoring and denying Taiwan as a separate entity.

You're very ignorant as to how Taiwan has developed it's own culture. Are America and England the same? Taiwanese people have more freedom of speech, different mannerisms..different language among other things

Chinese people don't even consider Taiwanese ppl as Chinese for goodness sake!

  • @choc0lee I personally agree on the freedom of speech, as I do actually prefer Taiwan over mainland China. However, by all means you are still a Chinese descendant. You can't deny that either. American-Taiwanese people call themselves ABCs, never have they called theirselves ABTs, and as for Canadians CBCs, rather than CBTs.

Taiwan's actual official country name is Republic of China = Chinese?

In the end, you're still Chinese. I'm not being ignorant about Taiwanese people. They do exist.

  • @laaybaybee I am chinese. I tell my friend's i'm Chinese (if they're not asian).

But you are seriously denying Wang lee hom's connection to Taiwan? Don't you think after his grandparents lived there, and his parents grew up in Taiwan with a taiwanese government, school system, and culture...they would've been influenced by all that?

All I want you to do, is acknowledge that a big part of Wang Leehom is influenced by Taiwan. Why can't he be Taiwanese? hm?

    And you won't do it.

  • @laaybaybee By the way you ignored my point about your own family. So I'm assuming they haven't adopted Vietnamese traditions?

Look, if you haven't visited both countries, I can understand how you think "Taiwanese and mainland-chinese cultures are literally near same". It's a whole different atmosphere. People's MANNERISMS, PRINCIPLES AND VALUES are different.

  • @laaybaybee by the way i never denied that i'm a chinese descendant did i? so next time you describe Wang leehom make sure you say: He's taiwanese/chinese descendant. What's wrong with calling him Taiwanese? Chinese people won't even accept Taiwanese people. What's Jay Chou? Chinese people are just jealous because all the famous music stars are from Taiwan. Seriously.

  • @choc0lee You consistently emphasized that your are Taiwanese, and that you recognized your self as "Taiwanese", Chinese is no where to be seen right? So far, I see myself as a Chinese girl accepting Taiwanese people. I'm not racist.

I don't listen to Mainland Chinese singers. That's why you see me here commenting under a Alexander Leehom Wang video. Seriously.

  • @laaybaybee umm i said that i tell people i'm chinese. so...yea...if i need to SPECIFY, then i say i'm Taiwanese.

well. ever wonder why you don't listen to mainland chinese singers??? hmmm maybe there is a difference between taiwan and china...don't cha think?

    anyways.

guess i'll go change my bios to Taiwanese with Chinese descent now...

  • @choc0lee I don't like Mainland Chinese music. However, Taiwan is still tied to China in ways. There's a difference, but you have to get the fact that from the beginning, you were arguing that Leehom Wang is Taiwanese. He's Chinese. His parents were born in Taiwan, that doesn't make him Taiwanese.

    now that's right. hahaha,

  • @laaybaybee hm i agree to disagree...but. this argument can go on forever. all i know is, wang lee hom calls taiwan home and i guess that's all i can ask for <3

  • @choc0lee NOW, I agree on that. hhehe

  • @choc0lee I still see my comments standing ,

  • @laaybaybee yea bc u wrote it...you won't see ur own spam. Ok if you want to talk about descent then WE ARE ALL FROM ONE SPECIES. evolution???

Why do you think I call myself an ABC? Because I've never even heard of anyone saying ABT...ABC is just easier to explain to the majority of people (americans). Americans don't even know about the disparity between Taiwan and China.

  • there we go again... "OMG HE'S TAIWANESE CHINESE NOT MAINLAND CHINESE" and "TAIWAN AIN'T THE SAME AS CHINA"... gee, can we take a break of this plz? :P

  • @waldomarek whatever is taiwanese?

  • @ft1598128 exactly... you can write a whole essay about what taiwanese is. could it be a) the aboriginals who lived there ages ago already or b) the aboriginals AND the chinese who moved there for trade and whatever before 1949 or c) the aboriginals AND the chinese who moved there for trade before 1949 AND the KMT who moved there after 1949? interesting, huh? o_O

  • @waldomarek i only get angry when someone says he's NOT taiwanese. you just have to acknowledge that he's both.

    culture-wise...he's taiwanese ok?

ethnically...98% of taiwanese ppl are chinese anyways. and like 50% of all other asian countries like singapore and thailand and wherever are all chinese too then.

i just feel defensive because i feel like chinese ppl feel like they have to own taiwan.

  • his chinese people jeez....his ROC Chinese not PRC Chinese. in other words his Taiwan chinese not mainland chinese

  • @myfunkychannel yesssssssss

  • thanks, we need to brush our teeth more often..............

  • haha no stinky breath when u sing!!! love him so much and hes sooooo cute!

  • watch?v=-luFkc7GFAw

  • Cute!!! XD

  • Who's TATA? That young lady?

  • @Zacksyomai

She's a Thai-American singer. Very high reputation in Thailand .... and also has 3 English albums in Asia and Europe. (which i'm not sure how popular she is outside the country .. but apparently not in your country. ..hehe)

She has a very beautiful voice though. ;-)

  • @Zacksyomai

    a singer

  • I love to brush my teeth too

  • so cute!

  • Oh, isn't that cute, "I love to brush my teeth?" OH, Especially, I love the song " Ni bu zai " it's my favorite, guys! Wo ai ni, WLH!

  • lol Leehom is so random and adorable.

  • he's Taiwanese.

  • what's the difference b/w taiwanese and chinese....? o.o?

  • @xymex There is no difference between taiwanese and chinese ethnically, there both the same, all taiwanese are basically chinese but they dont like to be called that. Cos Taiwan is the Free China (Republic of China ROK) while China is the communist china (People republic of china PRC) After World war 2, the KMT lost against the communist so they all moved to taiwan..... many left to taiwan cos it was free. All taiwanese at heart is still a chinese

  • so whats wrong with being called a chinese?? or from china? seriously, is it a crime or sth? everyone's so eager to clear it up.

  • actually....he is an America Born Chinese....from a big city, New York and he came to Taiwan to made his first CD....after that..he's lived in Taiwan since that time until now.....but his passport is still an U.S.A passport... that's also why his english is sooo good...

  • Well his parents are Taiwanese. Taiwan and China is not the same country.

  • Nationality-wise he's not "Taiwanese" or "Chinese" he's American. Ethnically, however, he's Chinese.

  • omg hilarious!!

  • HE'S SOOO CUTE!!!

  • Amazing English. What is his ethnicity?

  • American Taiwanese. Born in Rochester, New York.

  • he's chinese... not taiwanese

  • Hi Elric. He is Taiwanese as his parents are from Taiwan. He is not from China and his home is in Taiwan (Taipei), apart from the one in Rochester. =)

  • His parents are from Taiwan, but his grandparents are from China.

So in a sense calling him American - Chinese is also correct

  • O.o he's taiwanese american..

  • @CatzElricWalker see...rejecting the taiwanese part of him. don't ignore taiwan and it's influence on wang lee hom's life ok?

  • Ethnically he's Chinese.

  • @oleanderx @bq552 Lee Hom is an American born Taiwanese.

  • @dvlarry Listen to yourself. How pathetic you taiwanese patriotic freaks sound

  • @MissLurvelyB communism is failing

  • @dvlarry Also, do your research first. He is of chinese descent, based in taiwan.

  • @oleanderx No, he's Taiwanese. Big difference

  • He has a knack for languages. I'm supposing that his English is better because in Chinese interviews and stuff he sometimes throws in bits and pieces of English XD. Like in one he was saying (Chinese)I don't know what all of this is about but it's all (English) bullshit.

  • He is a singer from Taiwan.

  • He is a singer from Taiwan.

  • He's from NY who makes music in Taiwan and is also Taiwanese(I might be wrong on this). He might be cantonese. I don't know. =/

  • Hm... I found from various sources that Leehom's ancestors came from Guang Dong, so traditionally it means he's Cantonese. But so far nothing is proven.

  • that's chinese for hong kong LOL

  • he's taiwanese. but he grew up in NY

  • ^ LOL I guess he was kind of cornered into that situation because the host asked him if he thought Tata was sexy and it would be pretty mean if he said "no."

  • Gah, how can you not love this guy? Lol, usually I'm not the fangirl type, but it bothered me when he called Tata sexy. Oh well, lol. But I can see that he's a really sweet, normal guy. Its nice when celebrities stay true to themselves like that.
