@544001- And weren't they with the 82nd Airborne? Well, paratroopers and Marines are superb soldiers, best of the best, but nobody ever said they had to be experts in Rage outbreak contingency plans. When General Stone was forced to fall back on "Shoot everything", they naturally did much better. But yes- stuffing everybody in a parking garage with ordinary doors and shutting off the lights was a horrible idea.

*Damn* well said, I couldn't possibly agree more. Is it really any wonder that the events of the Rage outbreak drove Major West insane? It would be impossible to survive this without killing somebody, and more than likely you'd have to take the life of at least one you knew and cared about. I know that if I survived when all my friends and family were dead or insane, I wouldn't be having fun. No one should *ever* find fun in something as horrible as Rage.

The Rage virus destroyed Britain, and thanks to an idiotic British girl who placed her loyalty to her brother over the military's cold-hearted but correct logic it destroyed France too, most likely all of Europe. It couldn't reach Iceland or Alaska unless an aircraft or ship knowingly or unknowingly brought an infected to the area. And since the infected never bother to eat, sleep, or seek shelter, even Florida's winter would have a good shot at killing off most of them. I love both 28 Days and Weeks Later. My favorite characters are the military personnel in both, particularly Major West and General Stone. -

-West isn't so much of a villain in my eyes- if you commanded a brigade of 800+ men, tasked with shielding an entire city from infected attack, and lost all but eight of those men and the city, wouldn't you go insane too? West sincerely cared about his men, the Army, and England, and seemed to have kept a strong sense of duty, though it was twisted by his insanity. Ultimately, a good soldier and leader who had seen too much.

Brigadier General Stone is my favorite character from 28 Weeks Later- intelligent, brave, steel-nerved and cold-hearted when he needed to be, Stone reacted swiftly and harshly to the new outbreak, which turned out to be not swift or harsh enough. It was no fault of his that containment failed- a misguided older sister and three AWOL soldiers took care of that. Had Andy not been flown out of Britain, the infection would have been stopped again in time. But noo...

I would have wanted to keep him safe as much as anyone, would have given my life to do so, up to the moment Andy was infected. At that point, he became a menace and he needed to be killed. Because he was not, the Rage virus escaped to Europe, destroying many more nations and countless more lives. The military may seem cold-hearted, but their efforts to exterminate the outbreak were logical and correct.

Too bad its not a zombie movie. This movie is about a situation that could really occur, but wont occur beause of laws not allowing the experimentation of certan medicines. Actually its impossible to make a virus that could act this fast, for it to it would be extremely weak and the body could fight it off easily. Of course, you can induce rage, but it can never control someone like the movie protrayed, drugs can do that, but not a virus, its impossible.
