  • Its burnt asparagus!

  • @lightsoflove

Ha ha! I prefer the term "charred." =]

  • @ChefTips Looks really good ! I love the char marks !! Its the best way to eat them and thank you for this video.

  • @lightsoflove that's the only way I can eat it..

  • Char marks! it's a proven carcinogen. But i'll oven roast. Thank you.

  • @cliffcox66

I don't know how to answer this. Can you provide some facts? I mean, grilling Asparagus every now and then certainly won't do in with Cancer.

  • @ChefTips I read that burning, char marks, basically anything that blackens creates acrylamides. Just google it, or "burnt food cancer" and see the results. But I think it's a great recipe and I appreciate all your vids.

  • @cliffcox66 these days....what isn't a carcinogen? If you're going to go...might as well go after a good meal ;)

  • Is there a reason the audio has been dubbed over with music? I can't understand what he's doing...

  • @CJo582 One of your speakers might be out. Audio was on one channel and music on the other. Our old mic equipment wasn't the best, but thankfully we've improved since this vid. Cheers.

  • @ChefTips Hey Chef! I always been wondering what Asparagus tastes like. Any flavor discriptions?

  • @ChefTips tho the music was a nice touch, you might wanna consider cloning the audio to the other side, it was quite trippy off my speakers.

  • @intranick Yes, this was done with our old equipment and we were still learning how to edit. Sorry. Our new videos have both channels! :)

  • so once you cut the 2" from the bottom, everything you eat even the tip?

  • @rub504

    Yes.  =]

  • This recipe is fucking delicious! I just made this a few hours ago.

  • anything to replace lemon peper? something that youd find at home?

  • @nightxhawk95 You can just lightly salt and pepper them.

  • @ChefTips k tnx

  • Healthy asparagus...yummy.

  • thanks much, they were delicious!

  • You're welcome!

  • i used garlic,butter and sweet basil .

seems I use sweet basil on everything now

  • i cook asparagus the same way, but i toss in some balsamic vinegar, the juice of half a lemon, and a little thyme. GREAT VID!

  • Thanks! Your prep sounds delicious! Jason

  • Lucky, it snows where you live.....

Anyway, i couldn't find lemon pepper. Can i just add lemon zest to some pepper with some salt?

  • @ChipNick87

You can for sure make up your own fresh lemon pepper for this. Zest of one lemon, one tbsp salt, and one tsp fresh cracked pepper should be good....

  • wow, yall have snow where u live

  • grilled is the best!

  • Wow that easy! and looks yummy , Thank you Chef!!!

  • You're welcome! Hope you enjoy it!

  • keep it up man, hope to see you in TV land one day

  • @dodgedart74

    Ha ha. Thanks!

  • ChefTips - would they turn out the same if I just tried to broil them? How about if I put them in the oven? What temp would I need to put them at for them to cook in about 5 minutes?

  • Place in oven at 425 F for about 10 minutes.

  • dude, they're burnt. I heard if you eat food that is charred like that you are asking to get cancer. love all your other recipes, but this one didn't turn out.

  • I'm pretty sure you heard wrong.

  • is that snow? :O

  • Yes! =]

    I grill all year long!

  • Thanks Chef! I prepared in the oven. It was scrumptous! :-) Yum Yum

  • You're welcome! Glad it was a hit!

    ~ Cheers, Jason

  • I'm trying this later today! Mmmmmm!

  • How did you enjoy the recipe? Thanks so much!

  • It was GREAT! Never grilled it before, I usually heat it for 5 minutes in water then cool off and eat with extra virgin olive oil and salt.

    Thanks again!

  • Loved the video! Definitely very helpful, I usually just put them in the oven but I think I'm going to switch to grilling just because they looked so good!

  • Thanks Casey! These days, when we spend more time outside grilling, they taste wonderful alongside grilled fish and chicken. Actually, we grill them in the winter too! So happy you liked the recipe! PS: Your channel is wonderful! We have a few of the Great Chefs cookbooks here at home!

    Cheers, Jason

  • I just love asparagus and will give this a go.

  • Thanks. Hope you enjoy!

    Jason

  • Love asparagus

  • We do too! It's great on the grill! Thanks for commenting!

  • ah I love asparagus so much. But why do you chop off the bottom two inches? the best way to do it is to hold each end and snap them, the tough bit and the nice bit will separate as if by magic- no risk of any tough bits left on and no waste :)

  • Thanks for the comment. I cut them off all at once to save some time. :)

  • This looks awesome! I've been making grilled asparagus with olive oil, cracked pepper, sea salt, and garlic and it's fabulous. I'm anxious to try this as well!

  • Your recipe looks great! Nice and simple, I'm definately going to try it with wild asparagus! It's their season now here and I collect them myself in the wild, they are more delicious than those you can find in the market! The problem is that they are quite thinner and I must be very careful when I grill them... I used to make omelette with asparagus, but now I'm on diet and you just gave me a great idea how to cook them!

  • Wow! I wish I could find some wild asparagus! I bet they are so flavorful. Since they are thinner, I would leave them on the grill for a short moment. I bet those omelets you made were awesome!

    Thanks for commenting.

    Jason

  • Thanks for the tip! I 've already tried them yesterday, I picked some on Sunday morning my hands are still torn from the asparaggus plant thorns! They were great! I haven't pick any fo two years not because I didn't want to eat them, but because I didn't want to fry them, now I have found the way to make them thanks to this video, thank you so much!

  • Damn that looks good !!!!!! I will check out your other videos. This was nice and simple . Thanks for posting

  • Thanks for commenting. This was one of our first videos. The recipe is a lot better than the video. Hope you enjoy!!

    Cheers,

    Jason

  • Thank you! =]

  • Are you trying to talk to idiots or are you the IDIOT ?

Even my cat knows how to cook asparagus !

  • Just showing people a great easy way to grill asparagus. Glad you have such a talented cat. Maybe you should film your cat making asparagus and post the video here on youtube! I am sure it would get a lot of hits! =]

  • Yeah we are old. lol You have more hair than me though damnit. Hey I followed your recipe on lobster last night and it was a huge hit. Thank you. I will comment there about it.

  • Hair club for men! JK...

I always thought Triumph was a great band. My wife disagrees... and she has relatives in Canada!

    Thanks for your comments.

  • Yeah they looked great. Love that char on everything. My top burner is bigger than yours so I grill all of my veggies there. Plus I think the Smoke From The Dead animal flesh below makes em taste better. We told the kids they were green french fries and they loved them. Good tip on the salt too.

  • Hey, thanks for commenting! My kids love these too. Great tip about calling them green french fries lol. Noticed you had Triumph- Lay it on the line on your channel. Was that really a 1979 video? If so, I am feeling really old right now....

  • Thanks for this! I want to learn how to cook good veggie side dishes. Could you post a vid on how to cook fresh green beans?

  • Thanks for the comment! I have a real good recipe for sautéing green beans. I will put it on my video to do list! =]

    Cheers!

  • what does asparagus taste like?

  • Great question. It has its own unique flavor. The flavor profile will change when cooking with different ingredients. To get a taste of its true flavor, I recommend buying a fresh bundle and biting into a raw stalk.

  • I tried this today with grilled fish!! Very yummy!

  • How cool! I am glad you tried them sweepee! Thanks again for your nice comments.

  • u must be freezing in the snow!

  • It was a little cold. Standing by the grill kept me warm! :D This was shot last winter and we had to upload the video again.

  • Haha! Suddenly: Wintertime! :D

But what is lemon pepper? Haven't seen that in Germany. Any surrogate you can recommend?

  • We had to upload this video again. We filmed it last winter. :D

Lemon pepper is a seasoning that contains dried lemon zest, salt and spices. If you can not find lemon pepper, try adding one tablespoon of lemon juice to the asparagus. Followed with one tsp of salt and pepper. Then hit the grill! Hope this helps.

    Cheers.

  • Great yet simple as usual~~!! Love it~!

By the way chief John, is that.... snow?!

  • Yes. We had to upload this video again. We filmed it last winter. Thanks for your nice comment jssarah!

    Cheers!

  • Kick Ass Video!

    Five Stars!!
