Has anyone noticed that everytime a president gets in office something big always happens and the have to advert their attention away from their goals?
I don't know the intricacies of the Nobel Peace Prize , and am sure most do not which gives reason to believe that there IS inside manipulation. I admire your pride for such an event, but there is one contradiction you made. You say that the President has it all already made and needs to not improve his image; then you turn around and say that it makes America look good. Obama looks good - the people think America is good. So they coincide. So who knows? But, enjoy the vids man keep it up!
He's the fucking president, give it to someone else! Unless I missed something, there's still probably going to be a war with Iran, at least between them & Is Ra El.
It is clear why the right is so disturbed by this; just look at the way they reacted to the Olympic loss. They cant stand for anything positive to happen to, or for Obama. Forgetting that Bush almost ruined us.
I think because I'm getting tired of President Obama bashing at any cost from those who didn't open their mouths during the last 6-8 years while their chosen president made a mockery of not only the US, but of the office that they held.
There hasn't been too many videos with quite the same spin as Kip has done here...it was refreshing.
you seem to be transposing hate with incredulity here. Obama has yet to do anything other than replace Bush. If that is all it takes to obtain an award of this (supposed) stature, it utterly destroys the prestige of the award, and calls into question why the award is given, or has ever been given, in the first place.
The Right hates the fact that the international community in general and the Nobel Committee in particular are welcoming the United States back to the community of nations after the isolating disaster that was the administration of George W. Bush. They're pea-green with envy.
Nope. Prof, you're great when it comes to the Atheism and Biblical criticism, I love your vids. But, you and others fail to grasp that you're unAmerican when it comes to your own Country. Your country was founded on classical liberal values (individualism not collectivism). As for GWB, many on "the Right" criticize him almost as much as Obama. The Nobel Committee is a joke. Arafat got the Nobel peace prize.
Thanks for the nice words. Be assured that I'm well aware of the classical liberal principles that formed the theoretical underpinning of this republic's founding. I fail to see what that has to do with the Nobel Committee extending the U.S., in the person of the country's president, a welcome back to the community of nations.
BTW, you no doubt know that Arafat was given the prize along with Rabin and Peres for their efforts to establish peace between the Israelis and the Palestinians.
Yes, and that makes it that much more contemptible. To equate representatives of a flawed, semi-free country like Israel with a representative of Pan-Arabist, Pan-Islamist (depending on the time) movement - which is almost totally unfree - is too disguising for words. Arafat was also trained by the Muslim Brotherhood. What does it mean to "welcome back" a President to a community of "nations"? By whose standard? By what right? Sound like collectivism to me.
You truly deserve the compliments for the quality of your videos. And the fact that you gave Veritas48 an education on his own Religion. I doubt he'll ever come around to embracing reason/reality.
"What does it mean to 'welcome back' a President to a community of 'nations'? By whose standard? By that right? Sounds like collectivism to me."
Collectivism? What *are* you talking about, Intellisecular? I can't stand buzzwords. The previous administration's policies and actions isolated the United States from its friends and allies around the world. That has changed. Simple as that.
Collectivism isn't a buzzword,it's an established concept in political science. Bush, should be criticized for his altruism not for so-called unilateralism. E.g. Operation Iraqi "freedom" so Iraqis can defer to Sharia Law in their constitution. The President is suppose to uphold the Constitution of the United States. Friends and Allies should be defined as nations that protect the individual rights of their citizens, that's the standard. not what the State worshipping, muddle headed, media says.
In this context it certainly is. It's freighted with all of the associations the Right has been trying to make between the President and socialism, communism, and so on. Come on, Intellisecular. Let's be honest here.
Where is the self interest for Americans In Afghanistan or Iraq? The deaths of American lives in the futile attempt at bringing Western style liberalism to the Middle East is altruism. Consider the very "nations" Americans have lost their lives and taxpayer money. Americans et al, have built infrastructure for the Jihadists to use against the West. Sharia Law still rules in both countries (the very source of the hatred of the West). ...
As for Collectivism. The context is crystal clear. You mean welcoming back a U.S. President into the community of nations because he's concerned about grand collectivist concepts like the climate change agenda -which is to enrich Governments the world over through carbon taxes. Obama is also welcome back into the fold because he's non-judgmental about expansionist Statist regimes. Such a tragic irony to see fellow secularists secularize the idea that your life doesn't belong to you.
Logic fallacy - Bare assertion and Baseless Paranoia.
You need to provide evidence if you wish to assert that Governments are "enriching" themselves through a carbon tax. You need also provide evidence for the unspoken assertion here - that all Governments act in a manner to enrich themselves at all and that they are to keep any fund rather than spend it all as they always have. You also need backup for the rather paranoid assertion that the World is filled with "expansionist" Statist regimes.
If we had elected McCain, Ahmedinajad would have probably had a clear mandate in his election. In fact with that idiotic "Bomb bomb bomb . . bomb bomb Iran" ditty that McCain sang, it would have been easier than running against Bush, which he's already been very successful at thus far.
Obama has made progress. I think Obama's addressing and reaching out to the Iranian public helped give Ahmedinajad political headaches in their last election. As a result Iran is working better with Russians and thus indirectly with us on the nuclear issues. I think that's part of what the Nobel Peace prize folks were alluding to.
I agree with you. It is a proud day for our nation that Obama got the Noble Peace prize. But the christians I watch here on YouTube either have said nothing or have expressed ridicule of Obama winning the prize. Apparently believing in Jesus gives you limitless well springs of hatred,
Rather like giving it to the impostor Al Gore, with his company that is going to deal in carbon credits? Largest tax scam ever. Peace prize-how about we stop killing people that live in tents and get out of the 130 foreign countries we occupy.
As a Canadian, let me explain your country to you :). I know that sounds sarcastic, but, I like the majority of your vids. The USA was a country founded on Lockean premises. Thomas Jefferson admired, Locke Bacon and Newton. So, there's a visceral dislike of authoritarianism. Obama's rise wouldn't be possible with a people who fully embraced Enlightenment values. Then, there was a respect for individualism, personal responsibility, benevolence, and secularism. Obama is an unAmerican secular Jesus.
To be honest, I still don't think Obama should have won the prize. There are people who would've deserved it more.
Then again, there are also people who would've deserved it less :)
As someone who's never even been to America, I can say that Obama *is* making you guys look better to the rest of the world and the Nobel Peace Prize certainly doesn't hurt his image.
Has anyone noticed that everytime a president gets in office something big always happens and the have to advert their attention away from their goals?

Yeah, people can criticize Obama for not making miracles happen or fixing everything back to romantic good old days one month in, but the fact is:
The right will complain about everything he does, no matter what it is, because hes a dem.
Or they may not complain if he starts doing "everything" they wanted, but then he wouldnt have been elected.

Sure corporatist interests play a role, which is wrong and, again, this motive is still another form of sacrifice of American lives and taxpayers.
