  • You are right with brownish/ tan. You're wrong w/ 2ndry ferment tho.... I home brew my own and a 2ndry clears the wine nicely, and faster!

I have a slight sulfer smell to this last batch (using chlorinated City water). I think I racked to soon after my 2ndry... Wine is made from fruit. If you make the real stuff from blackberries ect., you must 2ndry to clear it out!

  • You swirl wine to oxidize it not to release aromas

  • Nice! Like the visuals.

  • Nice tips on tasting and pairing. I like the idea of the white wine with salad and believe it would go well with a salad containing some fruit like apples or even orange slices and walnuts or almond slices and a vinaigrette. Not sure it would work on a heavy salad like Cobb with Ranch or Bleu cheese though.

  • Taste zones on the tongue is actually a myth that has long since been disproven. All taste sensation comes from the entire tongue.

  • thanks!

  • your steak looks like bread with leaves on top. otherwise, thanks. good video.

  • @6Anonymous6 There is a piece of bread on the bottom, steak in the middle and salad on top, kinda hard to see the steak though, but if you pause it, you can see it.

  • Thank you heather! I really learned something new today! I enjoy your shows so much!

  • swirling lets the single flavors of the wine vaporize, so that you can better smell it. works for brandys, whiskey, etc. well, too

  • does swirling to smell it only work for wine or can it work for any beverages?

  • That is a great way to visualize taste, cut fruits in a glass, but may be a close exact. But I always wonder, why analyze wines? What's the ultimate point?

  • HA! This reminds me of a time when my poor butt went to Ruth Chris for my parents' anniversary. The waiters poured wine and asked us to consider it. We, being completely ignorant of the finer intricacies of wine tasting, just kinda gulped it down and said, "Oh yeah, that's fine." Bwahahahaha! Now I know better! Thank you! ROFL!!

  • @Nilyentaraka lol thats funny, i have a similar story. When I was like 7 I was with my family at a restaurant and I ordered a cheeseburger. The waiter asked me how I wanted it cooked and I said "ooo umm in a pan is fine"

  • how old can a wine get and still be drinkable

  • Hey, Heather here. Whites can last a good week or so in the fridge. Reds, not so long. 1-3 days. If you really want to hold a red, cork it and put it in the fridge, then slowly bring it to room temp before you drink. Week max. Also, invest in a pump seal for reds or buy half bottles. Good question.

  • thank you ill keep that in mind

  • man you guys are HATTTTTTTTING BOY! DAM!
