  • I read this morning online that Alaina passed away. She was great on Sesame St. and "227" My thoughts are with your friends and family.. Rest In Peace :)

  • It saddened me so much finding out that Olivia had passed. She will always be remembered.

  • R.I.P. Alaina.I loved watching you as a child and with my childeren on Sesame Street and 227.You were an inspiration .

  • Blessed love RIP Alain Red-Amini, thank you for your magnificents gifts!

  • Been loving this song since I was a child. I remember when it aired originally, people!

    RIP Alaina "Olivia" Reed Hall

  • Rest N Peace Alaina Reed Hall

  • fantastic

  • whatever happened to Olivia?

  • @mohinderbauer She passed away at 63 of breast cancer.

  • Another great part of SS was that the music wasn't written just for children. It wasn't kiddie music that talked down to kids. This song is a perfect example of great music from SS.

  • Favorited within the first 3 notes!

  • I don't remember this clip (I was born in

'83), but I think it's great! Olivia was awsome!

  • This is so soothing. Imagine the days when kids shows weren't about shrieking and hyperactivity all the time.

  • I remember this from when I was little..thank for this. Beautiful!

  • I always liked this song, the In Harmony album was just awesome!

  • George Benson doesn't need a guitar to sound smooth- as-silk.

But.... why are the characters played by black people singing on a broke-ass, inner-city stairwell?

  • abkdisney... this was from 1982 (Episode #1646)

  • Beautiful song, and George is sooo hot here...what year was this from?

  • Been searching forever for this song.....effing great!

  • This is OK, butI'm looking for George Benson doing Greatest Love of All on Sesame Street. That was the shit.

  • two majorly soulful people singing a killer song!

  • Imagine if kids these days were watching this!?!?!

  • I haven't seen this in ages!

  • Nice catchy tune. George Benson is also an accomplished guitarist.

  • Oh yeah...I used to always want my cornrows to look as good as Olivia's...oh and Patrice Rushen's.

  • LOL... come to think of it, I think I have always held up the memory of Olivia's cornrows as being the IDEAL... they were *perfect*...

  • I absolutely LURVE this song...I sooo remember this.

  • Imagine being able to duet with George Benson...just one of the many reasons why Sesame Street was so great.

  • Thank you so much for posting this. When I was little, this song taught me the order of the seasons. I appreciate being able to watch this again.

  • i love olivia! my mom let my brothers name me. they were 4 and 8 at the time and guess who they named my after...OLIVIA!

  • aww, sweet!

  • Sei grande George io suono la tua musica con mio padre e mio fratello.

  • Oh man, I LOVED all of Olivia's songs. Her voice lulls you to sleep! Great duet!

  • does anyone happen to have the clip of olivia singing "sing" while linda is signing? that was one of my favorite SS/olivia clips growing up- if any of you have it please post it!! thanks!

  • Awesome song. I did hear of the name George Benson. I wonder what year this was taken. My guess would be 1980.

  • i love george

  • Olivia was a favorite of mine! Does anyone remember the short film called "Who am I? Olivia sings "I am the mountain, I am the plain, I am wind, I am rain..." I've been trying to hunt down that song for years.

  • I remember that film/song and I would LOVE to hear that song again. How about that song, "Don't Walk" with Olivia, Susan and Maria? That's classic SS!

  • TerryT...

    It says, DON"T WALK...OOOH OOH...that's what the sign says...DON"T WALK...OOH OOH...that's what the sign says...DON"T WALK...OOOH OOH...that's what the sign says...DON'T WALK...DONT WALK...DON"T WALK!

    ISIS GRINS at the memory.

  • Thanks, MsTexas73! I can just hear that song playing now!

  • I've had this son in my head for 24 years. This is the first time I've had proof that it was there for a reason. Thanks for a wild trip down (vague) memory lane. :-)

  • This is beautiful. I wish Sesame Street still showed things like this. Alaina Reed, the actress who played Olivia, left Sesame Street to do "227" on NBC, and is still acting today. Check out her bio on Wikipedia and IMDB for more info.

  • also isnt it wierd on 227 that the steps to the appartment and where the window where Rose hung out look familar -)

  • You mean Pearl don't you. She hung out the window. Rose and Mary would always sit on the milk crates.

  • is that why the apartment looks the same on 227 as on sesame street?

  • ...turn your love around

  • Don't you turn me down.

  • I thought I would NEVER see this again. I've even looked on YouTube for it before. It's been 20+ years since I've seen this, but I've always remembered the chorus. Thanks for posting it! Does anyone know if the lady who played Olivia ever pursued a singing career? She has a very pleasant voice.

  • I remember this song. This is beautiful and I like the way George is introduced as a friend. Great clip!

  • Note that Olivia only introduces him as just a friend. She does not introduce him as being a celebrity.

  • Heh. That's probably why I have so many George Benson CD's now.

  • Would you know anything about this particualer song? Assuming this was a Benson original Was it a major hit for him? I don't ever recall hearing hit on the radio. I recall 1st seeing this in the late 70s if not after and it sounds at least 5 years older or so.

  • Sorry for the lateness...I think this song was recorded solely for the "In Harmony" Sesame Street record. He sang this with Paulette Wilson on that version. Unfortunately for all of us, it wasn't a big hit.

  • ya think...could be...I do too!

  • Well this is just lovely.
