Hitomi can use materias because she is observant enough to quickly know the functions of each materias. She observes it from the fight in the tower and now in this church. She's smart enough to remember the specific materias. Also she dont need sight to see the materias, it is alredy invincible, she only need her other senses to feel,hear, and see the materias..

@LovenVincent Actually, DoA needed to outnumber Yuna to win. Once it was 2v2, FF was winning. Hitmoi joins, 2v3. DoA is winning until Tifa joins, 3v3. FF is winning. Then, another joins for DoA, 3v4. DoA is winning. 2 more join for FF, 5v4. FF is winning.
Its just an observation, after all.. If you want to talk numbers, there you go. ;)
P.S - Materia reduces physical performance, none the less more than 30 that Tifa had in her.

@LovenVincent If she was not dependent on materia, then she would have not lost all focus after she lost her first one, and tried to use magic all the way through. If she was not dependent on materia, then her own magic would not weaken her as seen in Dead Fantasy 2.
It seems Monty has the basic knowledge to know what goes where and what it does. Tifa will not be able to use magic anymore, so why leave it at that? Her physical performance should rise. Otherwise, it would seem like favoritism.

She can, she was just distracted. She lost focus when she lost her first Materia, and instead of keeping distance she kept using more and more magic as already stated in another video.
Actually, I think they're pretty equal. They have their own style of fighting. You can't tell who is better from just one 1v1 duel, we'll have to wait for a rematch and see for ourselves who is better: Tifa, or Hitmoi.

She clearly states during that movie that its been years since any of them have fought, and they were all astounded that Cloud was fighting like no time had passed at all. Everyone used Materia in Final Fantasy 7, to state otherwise is therefore moronic.
Hitomi is a good-hearted and willed person, who relies singly on her honest virtues in battle. Unlike Tifa who relies on weapons such as Materia to make up for her "Rusty" fighting methods. Which as evidently pointed out in Advent Children.
"Purpose" is entirely subjective, something you seem quite unable to grasp. Hitomi fights for her sick father, for the honor of her family. She relies on no weapons, but her own skill. More than I can say for Tifa.
Something tells me you don't know ANYTHING about Hitomi if you think that she has no "heart". She is the only character out of the entire DOA cast who truly cares for her opponents, and unlike other characters will help them even after she's defeated. Evident in the fact that Hitomi slaps Hayate for what he does in DF5. Read Hitomi's Wiki page, she fights because she loves Martial Arts, and yes she "wants" to fight for her loved ones. If two people fight, and one of them has a gun, and the other is unarmed, and during that scuffle manages to disarm that opponent and use the gun against them, then that person is truly a Martial Art fighter. They do not need the weapon, they are capable of disarming their opponents with only their own skill.
Technically the Materia did nothing for Hitomi, she's simply "Disarming" Tifa of these unfair advantages of controlling and manipulating nature.
I mean, who was it that used the whole blind tactic anyhow? How dirty is that? Most villains we see in Martial Art videos, when they begin to lose their battle will throw sand in their opponents eyes, or attempt to blind them in some pathetic manner to gain the upper hand. Or even poison them to effect their fighting. How different is Tifa? She poisoned and Blinded Hitomi like some pathetic rat, and STILL lost. Its through Hitomi's dedication and love for her art, that she won.

Psychosis if you watch some of the combination moves from the girls (The Final Fantasy ones in particular) you'll notice some pretty Rival School-esque moves. Like in DF2 you can see the team attack Edge does while also seeing some of Natsu's moves as well.
I'm assuming you're referring to when Kairi and Rikku double team Ayane. Good pointing that out lol didn't notice but yea. Not clear on Natsu's moves tho
They're smattered around but anything with a volleyball spike like move might be some tribute to Natsu. It's really amazing how Monty Oum put so many different fighting games in these "matches" even if the characters aren't expressly from the game the move is used.

I don't like to make predictions on the DF series because as you can see they are very unpredictable. But who knows maybe you and everyone else could be right?
My money's on DOATEC using the FF girls for experiments, and that's why they were somehow invited. That would explain why Kasumi's clones showed up, and all those ninjas were called in by Hayate to subdue Tifa.
Nice call on DOATEC's involvement, though I must disagree with you on their intentions. The one responsible for the projects died at the end of DoA4, so cloning and experimentation aren't likely imo. I think Helena is taking Tifa and the materia back to DOATEC for studying.

Well someone said in the crowd at the premiere of DF 5 that Tifa used Auto Phoenix Down. If that the case she died. At the end of 5 she was still alive and i saw Hayate finish some ninja signs over her (tifa) so there is definatly something else going on here. With the materia Hitmoi could have easily finished off Tifa but she didn't. She could have killed her in 5 but she didn't join in at all and she even slapped Hayate. Helena started back up the clones but Hitmoi answers to her. So many ???

You don't have to learn how to use Materia. I hope you know what Materia actually is? It's a solidified form of the lifestream which flows with the knowledge of the Ancients, granting the user the ability to use their powers. The moment that piece of materia entered her body, and she was flooded with that knowledge, the ability to use that magic becomes innate.

"Purpose" is entirely subjective, something you seem quite unable to grasp. Hitomi fights for her sick father, for the honor of her family. She relies on no weapons, but her own skill. More than I can say for Tifa.

Something tells me you don't know ANYTHING about Hitomi if you think that she has no "heart". She is the only character out of the entire DOA cast who truly cares for her opponents, and unlike other characters will help them even after she's defeated. Evident in the fact that Hitomi slaps Hayate for what he does in DF5. Read Hitomi's Wiki page, she fights because she loves Martial Arts, and yes she "wants" to fight for her loved ones. Man you're talking out of your ass.

If two people fight, and one of them has a gun, and the other is unarmed, and during that scuffle manages to disarm that opponent and use the gun against them, then that person is truly a Martial Art fighter. They do not need the weapon, they are capable of disarming their opponents with only their own skill.
Technically the Materia did nothing for Hitomi, she's simply "Disarming" Tifa of these unfair advantages of controlling and manipulating nature.

I mean, who was it that used the whole blind tactic anyhow? How dirty is that? Most villains we see in Martial Art videos, when they begin to lose their battle will throw sand in their opponents eyes, or attempt to blind them in some pathetic manner to gain the upper hand. Or even poison them to effect their fighting. How different is Tifa? She poisoned and Blinded Hitomi like some pathetic rat, and STILL lost. Its through Hitomi's dedication and love for her art, that she won.

Wow, you literally know NOTHING about neither Final Fantasy nor DOA do you? She was blinded, as seen from the black ink on her face when she stands up, and how her sight keeps fading in and out. After she beats the Materia out of Tifa, the Blind spell wears off and Hitomi returns to normal. And no, Hayate is NOT her brother.
What determines a win or a loss? When someone dies? No, Hitomi defeated Tifa in this bout, outclassed her in Martial Arts, and knocked her out of the church.

No, Dead Fantasy 3 centered around these 2 fighters, and toward the end it was Hitomi that outclassed Tifa in Martial Arts by disarming her of the Materia and beating her to a bloody pulp. At that point, Dead Fantasy 3 was over, with Hitomi standing victor, and Tifa stumbling around bleeding. Please try and accept that.

Psychosis if you watch some of the combination moves from the girls (The Final Fantasy ones in particular) you'll notice some pretty Rival School-esque moves. Like in DF2 you can see the team attack Edge does while also seeing some of Natsu's moves as well.

They're smattered around but anything with a volleyball spike like move might be some tribute to Natsu. It's really amazing how Monty Oum put so many different fighting games in these "matches" even if the characters aren't expressly from the game the move is used.

knowing monty's "haloid" project, in the end he made the girls pair up and fight against the aliens. hmm. that could give us a huge clue as to where this is going.

I don't like to make predictions on the DF series because as you can see they are very unpredictable. But who knows maybe you and everyone else could be right?

My money's on DOATEC using the FF girls for experiments, and that's why they were somehow invited. That would explain why Kasumi's clones showed up, and all those ninjas were called in by Hayate to subdue Tifa.

Well someone said in the crowd at the premiere of DF 5 that Tifa used Auto Phoenix Down. If that the case she died. At the end of 5 she was still alive and i saw Hayate finish some ninja signs over her (tifa) so there is definatly something else going on here. With the materia Hitmoi could have easily finished off Tifa but she didn't. She could have killed her in 5 but she didn't join in at all and she even slapped Hayate. Helena started back up the clones but Hitmoi answers to her. So many ???

You don't have to learn how to use Materia. I hope you know what Materia actually is? It's a solidified form of the lifestream which flows with the knowledge of the Ancients, granting the user the ability to use their powers. The moment that piece of materia entered her body, and she was flooded with that knowledge, the ability to use that magic becomes innate.
