if you observe it you will find that the person being projected is completely opaque (blocks light). were this a real hologram the room would have to be darker, the hologram would be simi see through, and theyre might be bright spots on the ground/walls/cieling that would result if they used lasers. if it was a top projection hologram there would be a spinning mirror.

He says he's seeing her, but it's a reference to the broadcast we're seeing, not as if she's in front of him. This is a "tomogram", not a "hologram". A tomogram has 35 cameras and a good computer placing her on a screen as if she was visible in a studio. The red disc on the floor is just bullshit to make people think it's coming from there and as a placeholder for what direction the person actually there has to look over at.
