  • I know its over 3 years too late, but I see your backup wiring problem: (6:27) The red wire between your relay to your switches middle position means that the switch, and consequently the + power, will never reach the switch (its connected to the relays NO contacts), so its actuation will never get the relay to energize and reverse the motors.

simply move that middle switch wiree to the top left red wire on the relay (as seen in 6:27)- the + input to the whole frontal area

  • @Calaban619 oops got it wrong.... your switch hookup is ok..

  • hey where'd you et tha book? and how much is it?

  • hey can you make a tutorial video

  • where do you get the photodiodes????

  • @riceburner115 usethefuckinggoogle, com :D... sory, you can get them from optical PC mouse, but i think its cheaper to buy some diodes,

  • Hey, josh i was experimenting with my herbie on the solderless breadborad and found when i changed out my "eyes" from ir emitters, from an old mouse, to a a pair of emitters from an old universal remote (the types that look like LED'S) i've gained reverse but I can't tell if there is a difference in speeds when light changes occur, indicating it's chasing a light source. but it couldn't hurt to try, also I am using 100uf cap and 1k resistor seems fine to me. Contact me via youtube.

  • Nice job n the herbie [beam] bot, I am working on one now, I am protoyping it on bread board because I suspect something is wrong, the motors don't seem to be spinning fast, it doesn't go reverse and the microswitch seems to make the motor spin alot faster but still not in reverse. But troubleshooting seems just as fun in putting this bot together because one can learn more about the circuit as reparis are being done. I am machining the chasis for my herbie, to practice machining.

  • i bought that book today :D

  • Do you have the photodiodes on the bot? I guess you do. I don't have that book, so I'm wondering how you are sopposed to wire the diodes to the bot correcly so it would follow the light. And if you can, can you copy the book with a scanner and send it. Lol, I need that book!! Thanks. :)

  • Nice! I have yet to make a herbie that works.

  • this is the olld crapy one get the new one the new ones bodey is its curcits

  • this is scrap bud...makes it better!

  • I would but i made that from scraps! but thanks

  • k what was my comment again???

  • Are you using a comparator there? If yes you should try adding some buffers... so it does not spin so much.

  • nice

  • wazzup josh nice beambot but isnt there well should have a solar panel but nice bot!

  • Not this bot it is made with a 9v thanks you for watching it!

  • Thank you everyone I'm making a new as of now! It is going to look pretty cool! Later peps!

  • thats cool i was wondering if i should by parts for one and i decided yes.

  • nice work, that is a good book, i need to get a copy :)

  • nicely done. Scrapheap style :) Or almost MacGuyver style ;) Good Job!

  • Thank you! I'm going to start another one its a nice nice Plan updated my way! Thank you!

  • My sound isnt working so I have no idea what you're saying.

Try to Mod it by putting those clicker switches so that when it hits a wall, the wheels would spin backwards. Also, try to put a pair of LEDs right beside the Photos so that it makes its own light once it detects a dim light source.

Sorry if what Im saying confuses you, I aint good at explaining

  • Nvm, already have them..
