This looks like a cool progression to unassisted 1 arm chin / pull ups, i might also try it. The exercise that i believe has helped me the most so far is rope climbing. Had been doing 1 arm negatives & weighted chins with 60kg, not from a dead hang though, just as far as i can reach up.

your bicpos are strong enough its your back that is lacking the strength. that is why you can only get so far with the arm bend. the last few inches to getting the chin over the bar is by pulling your elbow back and behind you like a seated row.

I'v got some weights (up to 20kg ish) and a climbing harness...
Will give this a go soon, it should help allot with the balance/ turning issues many have when first trying the move one handed.

You didn't doing it because you aren't rotating your body towards your pulling arm. Tuck your body in and you'll get it with that weight easy.
Part of the skill is body distribution. Most people bend a lot at the hips to get their weight closer to the bar to reduce torque on the biceps.
