I went in with low expectations and I didn't expect how much I would like this. The real story isn't about LARPing or the girl, it's about getting carried away and the consequences that entails. On many levels this reminded of Lord of the Flies as well.
now, what was the name of that film that came out about 2-3 years ago about some guys that need to take care of a nerd that plays a game like these but more comical?
I enjoyed the movie on a purely gratuitous level, but who was I supposed to be rooting for, anyway? Was I actually supposed to sympathize with Captain Buzzkill, who whines because he's too unimaginative to have fun with his girlfriend?
Awesome trailer, shitty movie. The mani character was an annoying douchebag, and the rest of them were stupid and one dimensional. The plot was retarded too because anyone with a bare knowledge of how LARP sessions are conducted would know they just pulled most of the stuff out of their asses in order to generate tension. It's a pity because it could have been great.
The movie was nothing technically outstanding. Asides from the comedic characters, the cast was bland. The plot had horrible rhythm and the filming was amateur like you'd expect. There were a lot of things that had bothered me, but who gives a shit! The movie was fun and entertaining - that is, unless you really dislike larping. To quote some other dude I saw on the internet, "This did for larping what Jaws did for swimming."

Excellent movie, highly original. Probably one of the best (dark) dramas I've seen in a long time. Great cast also. I bough the German BD, which looks excellent. Recommended!
This movie was so fucking awesome. Not many people think it is, but I'm Norwegian, so I was really into it. The ending was insanely fucking awesome. I would definitely suggest this to anyone.
I watched this on Netflix last night with no idea what I was about to watch. What a surprise. The first and final acts of the film are so drastically different. Its very shocking, and dark.

Also, to all the LARPers who saw this trailer and thought the movie would make you look bad - we all know shit like this doesn't REALLY happen. That's like saying Hostel is a accurate portrayal of backpacking in Europe. It's just a movie, so chill out and enjoy it. You might actually be more scared / enjoy it more, since its setting will make it relateable.
Ive heard or individuals, not any group, raping women at very large Larp events, but they were one person, the police were contacted, and before the police came, a house would find them and beat them bloody and leave them wrapped up in ropes up in a tree.

I am a LARPER and I thought this movie was great.Some people seem to be missing the premise. LARP is the setting. This is just a different showing of how some people react so harshly to when they cannot get what they want. There are people like this in real life and sure they may not take it so very overboard, like they did in the movie, they still needed to make a movie. A dark and brilliant movie in my opinion.

One of the best movies I've seen. Screw the critics who said it needed more production value; the low budget is what makes it truly great. When it's not all about perfect shots, special effects and expensive lighting all you have left to carry the film is great acting, f*cking awesome story progression and pure creativity - and this film has plenty of that. It's a little bit like Role Models meets Lord of the Flies but it gets under your skin like Trainspotting. Highly recommended!

Movie was good but kind of weak with the twist. Shit was fake, then it got real, then about 5 mins later it got fake and then real again at the end. Ending was pretty crazy.

I think its a nice movie, tho you guys gotto remember one thing. LARP is NOT like this, we're not a bunch of crapheads who live in a self invented world. If you're doing REAL LARP, this whole issue is NO issue and the girl simply could have left.

@bellaKohler Sure thing: The characters were completely unlikable, the plot had holes large enough to park a truck in, the director tried to use dead audio space to give a feeling of desolation/contemplation without realizing that when you do that u need to have some sort of consistent visual imagery to substitute for the lack of audio. The dialogue was poorly written (I've seen better dialogue in porn), the characters motives where poorly executed & i've run out of space just giving an overview

I was asked why the film failed to live upto my expectations and i gave those reasons. Considering the only thing on your account is the wild hunt trailer and a single wild hunt based subscriber i will assume you have an invested interest in this film. I have no such rose tinted glassess, so i can happily say this film was not good & i gave reason why not.

This is one of the best movies I've seen. I can't stop thinking about it. If it were better edited and had a better lighting it'd be 10/10. It shows how reality is really boring to some people. It shows how people who play this are passionate and devoted to this. But it also shows how things can go too far if you disconnect from reality. Good job!

This was a seriously good film, I'm not into the whole role playing thing but you don't have to be to get into the film, the main character isn't one of the role players not going to ruin any thing but great ending ;)

I enjoyed it, as I am into 'Living HIstory' not that into LARP I must confess I laughed at the bad costumes, soft weapons, etc.
But the movie didn't put forward a bad image of people involved in LARP, especially the whole setup, the vilage and the crowds simply having a lot of fun, made it all seem pretty cool.
You know something, I dont like it when people take the germanic culture, or at least dress like it, and then pull peices of fictional malarkey into it. the wild hunt is a fucking folk tale of the god odhinn clearing out the old year, not some bullshit film with bad acting

I just watched this last night, and it was God Damned Awesome. Recommending it to all my friends.
Also, to all the LARPers who saw this trailer and thought the movie would make you look bad - we all know shit like this doesn't REALLY happen. That's like saying Hostel is a accurate portrayal of backpacking in Europe. It's just a movie, so chill out and enjoy it. You might actually be more scared / enjoy it more, since its setting will make it relateable.

I am a LARPER and I thought this movie was great.Some people seem to be missing the premise. LARP is the setting. This is just a different showing of how some people react so harshly to when they cannot get what they want. There are people like this in real life and sure they may not take it so very overboard, like they did in the movie, they still needed to make a movie. A dark and brilliant movie in my opinion.

One of the best movies I've seen. Screw the critics who said it needed more production value; the low budget is what makes it truly great. When it's not all about perfect shots, special effects and expensive lighting all you have left to carry the film is great acting, f*cking awesome story progression and pure creativity - and this film has plenty of that. It's a little bit like Role Models meets Lord of the Flies but it gets under your skin like Trainspotting. Highly recommended!

@Amoniphax Actually, Tuchux arent SCA at all. We fight with rattan weapons, not boffers. As for medieval, my clan is very inspired by the Mongols. Our clans totem is the Sabertooth Cat.
While we do have some rednecks, seeing as our people come from Canada to Florida, east and west too, we arent thrown out of the SCA for being drunk or non-historically oriented. In fact, at events like pennsic we're paid well by kings to fight. So suck it you bitter prick. :)

@bellaKohler Sure thing: The characters were completely unlikable, the plot had holes large enough to park a truck in, the director tried to use dead audio space to give a feeling of desolation/contemplation without realizing that when you do that u need to have some sort of consistent visual imagery to substitute for the lack of audio. The dialogue was poorly written (I've seen better dialogue in porn), the characters motives where poorly executed & i've run out of space just giving an overview

@MrBjornmagnusson Dude you dont need to be able to fly the plane to know that if you the plane is crashing your probably not doing it right. I was asked why the film failed to live upto my expectations and i gave those reasons. Considering the only thing on your account is the wild hunt trailer and a single wild hunt based subscriber i will assume you have an invested interest in this film. I have no such rose tinted glassess, so i can happily say this film was not good & i gave reason why not.

@mrcableguy :/ if by many you mean disney channel movies, and avatar, then i would agree, if you mean any mature movie like Gran Torino, District 9, or Inception, then what drugs are you on?

Je suis déchirée entre les termes "génial" et "horrible". Durant les premiers moments, les images sont enchanteresses... J'ai ressenti un désir pressant d'aller à Bico! Les instants d'après me font vouloir taire mon hobby à tous sauf ceux qui ont le même que moi, de peur d’officiellement me faire prendre pour une tarée. Vraiment étrange comme sentiment. Même si Richard Mabe en vicking, c'est priceless.

This is one of the best movies I've seen. I can't stop thinking about it. If it were better edited and had a better lighting it'd be 10/10. It shows how reality is really boring to some people. It shows how people who play this are passionate and devoted to this. But it also shows how things can go too far if you disconnect from reality. Good job!

This was a seriously good film, I'm not into the whole role playing thing but you don't have to be to get into the film, the main character isn't one of the role players not going to ruin any thing but great ending ;)

C'est une honte pour l'image du rôliste!! On a déjà tellement de mal a faire accepter notre hobbies, c'est pas ca qui va nous aidé a nous faire passé pour des gens sains.

@MrEzaekiel Nos hobbies sont tres accepter et tres cool! Faut pas avoir peur de notre propre ombre... Si les gens sont fachistes contres les GNs ils sont cons... Quelques joueurs ont une crainte, ca se comprends (ceux qui voit le trailer - tres diferent de voir le film) - mais jusqu'a date le monde aime le film et tout les non-GNs comprennent que c'est une histoire originale et de la FICTION - non pas un documentaire...

I am a LARPer, and I think this movie is fun =D I don't care if people think my hobby is strange, I think its fun, and a hell of alot other LARPers I know think this movie is fun too :D

LARP isn't for me and I'll confess that I secretly have to laugh at it a little bit, BUT people laugh at my hobbies as well so who cares.
As long as you're having fun, go for it!

A funny movie turning dark.
I enjoyed it, as I am into 'Living HIstory' not that into LARP I must confess I laughed at the bad costumes, soft weapons, etc.
But the movie didn't put forward a bad image of people involved in LARP, especially the whole setup, the vilage and the crowds simply having a lot of fun, made it all seem pretty cool.

You know something, I dont like it when people take the germanic culture, or at least dress like it, and then pull peices of fictional malarkey into it. the wild hunt is a fucking folk tale of the god odhinn clearing out the old year, not some bullshit film with bad acting

@DuescherStoltz The film had so little to do with 'the wild hunt' or even Germanic culture it is unreal, they are in a fantasy role playing game and things get out of control.
Don't judge a film by a trailer, and if you watched the film and then wrote this comment you have got to be an idiot.
