  • Great stuff! That tune has been in the back of my mind for more than 40 years. I much prefer the restrained delivery of that generation of news readers--Gordon Honeycombe, Andrew Gardiner, Richard Baker, Kenneth Kendall, et al. They enunciated clearly and didn't get in the way of the news.

  • Non Stop - still going !... courtessy of the John Wilson Orchestra - good on them.

Perhaps explains why he no longer conducts the Halle.

  • Reginald Bosanquet , John Suchet , Andrew Gardner with Alastair Burnet and Gordon Honeycombe - Things were more formal but perhaps better then ;at least they were not forced to talk about "Breaking news " !

  • @epmorris You are so right! Less personality, more hard facts!

  • Absolutely Marvelous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Name the presenters?? I'm not old enough! LOL!! Interesting how such a 'jolly' tune could be used for the news though! It's played by L'Orchestre Devereaux (1947)

  • @gabbysbuddy A lot of Brit production music was recorded in France. ORTF ork recorded lots of it, too.

  • Nice to hear the whole tune!

    From a more dignified era!
