The LDS church has pushed Christ in media more and more - much more than they did before.. hmm, makes me wonder - it seems like they just want to seem christian.
Apostles does not exist anymore - they had to be witnesses of Jesus´ life here on earth...
We are Christian. Look at the history of our books, our videos, our media and you'll see that there hasn't been any recent uptick. With the Internet, there are simply more tools and more outlets to share that media.
Why can't apostles exist today? Why did they have to be witnesses at the time Jesus lived on the earth?
The apostles had seen Jesus. Judas´ killed himself. They choose a new apostle - and one criteria was that it had to be one that has seen Jesus. Acts 1, 22. We also see that about Paul, Gods chosen vesel, 1. Cor 9,1 + 1. cor 15, 7
From FAIR: "The problem here is Acts 1 does not lay down this criterion for all future apostles. Paul, of course, would not meet this requirement, yet I've never met a Christian that didn't view Paul as an apostle.
Regarding the replacement of Judas, it appears that there was a group of men who did indeed met this criterion, from which they selected Barsabas and Mathias. Now if this is all we knew about additional apostles, it might be a tough call. But this is not the case."
"Most LDS critics will admit that Paul was an exception. And while doing so, declare the requirements stated in Acts 1 null and void for future apostles. Paul did not accompany the original apostles from the baptism by John to the day He ascended into heaven."
Paul saw Jesus in a vision, not in His mortal ministry as Acts 1 talks about. Who is to say that these apostles today have not had similar experiences to Paul that would similarly qualify them?
