  • ...stunning !!

  • Well played and nicely written! Sounds like it could be Keith Emerson-type piece also.

  • @TomKrolMusic Thanks so much Tom! wow Keith Emerson very cool! I love ELP! I have enjoyed your classical guitar performances my friend! Keep up the good work!

  • Great playing! :)

  • @Veradoradehon thanks alot! :) Nice to meet you! I enjoyed your RUSH keyboard covers. Great job on the Countdown solo!

  • @BMDguitar thank you! :)

  • brilliant!

  • @AnkeZohm wow thanks Anke! very nice to meet you

  • What a stirring classical tribute to Alex. You couldn't have picked a better muse. He's as amazing a person as he is a guitarist.

  • @LerxstGirl Thank you very much! :) I totally agree Alex is an amazing guitarist and really down to earth guy! great to meet ya! Cheers!

  • great playing!!

  • @vlad3660 thanks :)!

  • great job. sounds really good.

  • @2112rushfan1 Thanks so much! great to meet you! I really enjoyed hearing you guys play some RUSH! keep playing those drums! :)

  • Nice composition! Sounds like a blend of Broon's Bane melody and La Villa Strangiato's time signature. Very nice.

  • @newton4prez Thanks so much! great to meet you! I was wanting that haunting Broon's Bane quality, and Alex's solo in La Villa also has a similar feel as the theme, it's in 7/4 time :) It was because of that solo( and Xanadu) that I learned volume swells on an electric, and that solo is a great lesson in dynamics and building a solo up to a climax. A Lerxst in Wonderland alright!

  • @BMDguitar I remember learning Broon's Bane a while back. I'll have to relearn it. I remember how Lifeson blended the end of Broon's Bane with the intro to The Trees on Exit Stage Left.

  • You play very well, nice one!

  • @TheBarrettMusic Thanks so much Mark! great to meet you!

  • As a Canadian, there was no way I could have grown up here without listening to Rush. But then, that's the way it is for all great bands. But Rush is different somehow....they go beyond great. And I have to say your tribute to Mr. Lifeson here is really wonderful. Thanks very much for sharing your talent with us out here. Peace :)

  • @GravediggersPlace Thanks so much! means a lot! And I might add I love Canada! I have been to Toronto and Montreal. Both great cities! I know what you mean about RUSH! I think it's the freedom in the music, and you can never put the music into a box! I love listening to a RUSH song the first time and saying wow they went there and it worked! :) I have learned a bunch of lessons as a guitarist from Alex! Each album you can learn a different lesson about guitar playing. thanks!

  • Hey Brandon, I wouldn't call myself a bass player :) I tried as a teen but found that I could hit Geddy's vocal high notes bettter than I could slap his low ones... but alas I tried. Now I just sing. That's funny, Grace is my favorite album as well. fav song for me is a toss up between AfterImage and between the wheels. I'm a rare lover of "A show of hands" over the other 2 prev live albums :) and I also love Vapor Trails despite other poo pooing it :) I just love all of it!!!

  • @3libras1971 I love Afterimage too I am working on a solo guitar arrangement of it! There's not a Rush album I don't like! Every album has it's own formula to to it! :)

  • Beautiful!!!!

  • @ProgMom67 Thanks! :) I love your channel! and you are very talented!

  • Such beautiful...i really appreaciated It

Thanks for share it with us

  • @GALATHEA1100 Thanks so much :)! it's a pleasure to share! that's what it's all about! :)

  • Yes, he is!! I love Alex!!

  • I wanted to be a bassist like Geddy when I was 15 so I started lessons and rented this gorgeous black Fender but alas my hands were too small and I turned out to be a way better singer so now I just sing everything RUSH. LOL! I envy you, I'm just not coordinated enough. All my friends were into new wave and I was the token geek!! The music is lifes inspiration and This band means so much to me :) Some of the best stuff was post "Grace Under Pressure" ya know?

  • @3libras1971 cool you play bass! :) I am a huge Grace Under Pressure fan! such a great album! I love all the tracks on it! my favorite one would be Between the Wheels! Alex's solo in that tune has so much feel, and I love the rhythm ideas and vocal melodies!

  • Beautifully haunting. You are very talented Brandon and with a great name I might add (mines Brandie) :) Lerxt would be proud and honored!!

  • @3libras1971 Thanks Brandie! I appreciate you posting the video on your channel! Every dream I have had since I was young was inspired by an Alex Lifeson solo at one point or another.

  • awesome dude, very passionate and emotional, just like Big Al

  • Ricky4395 Thanks Ricky! means a lot! One of the most important things anyone can learn from Alex's playing is feel! :) and music has a way of helping you express things that words can't! :)

  • wow, really impressive feel!

  • @CassiusChrysanthe thanks so much!

  • I like. Alex is one of my favorites too. Rush is the best. :)

  • @keytarpimp RUSH is the best! :) complete musical freedom!

  • Al is my biggest influence in my guitar playing too, im 14 yrs old :)

  • @zigzaghookie Awesome! I started playing when I was 13, and when I turned 14 my guitar teacher gave me Moving Pictures to listen to, and I went out and bought all the albums! It was 1991 and ROLL THE BONES was just about to be released, and I taped DREAMLINE off the radio and learned the guitar solo before the album came out :) keep playing my friend!

  • Good one, maybe Alex will get to see it. I am friendly with Tony G, aka Jack Secret so I will mention this to him.

  • @MrTommYYZ Hey thanks so much! i would love it if Alex got to see it! After all it is youtube...anything is possible. Tony seems like a really down to earth guy, and I would be honored if he got to see it too! Thanks a lot man

  • @BMDguitar Tony is the coolest, he passed a gift to Neil for me at the Salt Lake show. I hopefully will be playing golf with him in Vegas at the show. If I get his ear I will for sure make sure he sees this, the band loves stuff like this.

  • @MrTommYYZ Awesome! sounds good Tell Tony he is welcome to look me up in Greenville, SC in June. I would be more than happy to meet everyone for a meal! :)

  • you are one of the best guitarists, take my hat off to you!

  • @BMDguitar Your welcome, great to meet you too!

  • @BMDguitar Your welcome, great to meet you too!

  • Thumbs up all the way:)

  • @musicline2006 Hey thanks a lot! :)

  • @musicline2006 this fingering allowed the "p" (thumb) to accent more, and bring out the lower voices better

  • I could only wish to play gtr like that. I think I will still to drums/perc. :SI don't understand why some say that guys like us are so phenomenaly talented...yet not many hits. :S

  • @WARLOCK70 thanks so much for the kind words! keep doing what you love man! that's all that matters! play the music that you want to play, and people will catch on to what you are doing! :) CHEERS

  • Rush is also my all time favorite band. I don't play guitar so I have no idea what you're talking about in your description but the music does remind me of some guitar work in Rush. This piece builds in intensity and explodes at the end much like a typical Rush song would do. I took a listen just now to Tears so I can definitely here the similarity in the type of the guitar used. Tears is one of my least inspirational Rush songs so it's interesting that it moved you. I appreciate it more now.

  • @patcoston Hey thanks so much for your positive feedback! I was inspired by every RUSH song really :)!, and really celebrating Alex's guitar work in RUSH too! I simply just used the opening chord position from the song TEARS ( Alex made that chord famous) in the middle of the piece. Your description of SON OF LIFE was right on! thanks for noticing! Very nice to meet you.

  • Awesome!

    Thanks for posting!

    ツBella

  • @4BellaGuitar no problem! I love music, and Alex is such an underrated guitarist who should get more credit! :) Great to meet you and I hope all is well in Germany!

  • I love it.

  • @rentalbmx thanks!

  • Very nice.

  • @toddg64 thanks so much todd! great to meet you!

  • Beautiful!

  • @jazcan thanks so much Tracey! means a lot coming from such a great composer! I hope all is well in Toronto :)

  • Nice job.. :)

  • @EQRock10 thanks so much!

  • This is sweet man! good work bro.

  • @emand29 thanks bro! :)

  • Wow! This is really cool!

  • @Sayonara69 thanks so much! have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

  • Hi, nice playing, Alex is an unusual player and my favorite too.:)

  • @neonskyline1 thanks so much! Alex certainly is one of the most unique guitarists around, and he is such a team player too! always writing the perfect part for the tune! nice to meet you and have a Merry Christmas!

  • Great! job iRush is also my favorite band and i play guitar too but not that good.

  • @Lerxst2113 Thanks so much! it's great to meet you and keep playing the music you love.

  • Absolutely wonderful piece. I think Alex would like it a lot. I hate to correct someone, because I don't want to be rude, but being a HUGE Rush fan myself, I thought I should tell you that the song 'Trees' is from Hemisphers not 2112.

  • @whoopiman Hey thanks so much :) nice to meet you. I can tell you are a true Rush fan defending the details :) read my description again and you will see that I did list the Fmaj 9 voicing from "Tears" on 2112 :) no problem at all though Cheers!

  • @BMDguitar Oh man, I am such a dweeb. That's what I get for reading too fast. I was wondering why no one else hadn't corrected you. It was because they are not delusional like me. LOL. Tears was one of the first Rush songs I learned on guitar. It's also one of the few songs that wasn't written by Neil Peart.

  • @whoopiman no worries at all man! If your standing up for the best band in the world you are definitely not a a dweeb :) I think every guitarist learned to move that c major chord to 6th fret from Alex, and also the HEMISPHERES chord ( which is also featured in FAR CRY ) F#7add4 ( 11). I actually also hint a chord progression from FREEWILL in SON OF LIFE, Alex plays bm7b5 to Bbmaj7 in the pre-chorus of FREEWILL. In SON OF LIFE i play bm7b5, G7/B, Bbmaj7, gm7/Bb. that was accidental

  • Great piece, I'm sure Alex would love it! Cheers from the great white north!

  • @cjsinclair thanks so much Craig! I love the great white north too :) nice to meet you!

  • pretty cool!! wooww...

  • @fromvulcano thanks so much Blackbird! :) great to see you here too!

  • This is cool, good job :)

  • @MagellanOfBass thanks so much great to meet you!

  • Great work man, make me want to record a lead to it... Awesome!

  • @compman67 thanks! I actually am going to record another version with the solo guitar piece as a background and then add electric guitar leads, volume swells, art harmonics, and ebos. I also may add cello too!

  • So beautiful duude, Love it!

  • @ychokel thanks man!

  • good composition and playing!

  • @EugenSedko wow! thanks Eugen! that means a lot coming from you. You are an amazing flamenco player! cheers!

  • @BMDguitar thanks Brandon, I really liked your composition decisions and their realization

  • Great playing and composing. I also am a big fan of Lifeson, I feel he is like a modern mozart with his great classical compositions which are critically ignored.

  • @twhitak thanks a bunch! I agree Alex is a great composer ( not just classically) , and is very creative and innovative. I am sure he would probably make Mozart crack up too! Alex is such a funny guy!
