  • Which saxophone were you playing there?

    Mouthpiece?

    You did that so well

  • Fantastic stuff!

  • Amazing. Played excellently!

  • tenor player here. You sound pretty good, I like it. you seem to be a little bit ahead of the beat though.

  • awesome!

  • YAY ALTOS!!! HAHAHAHA I'M GUNNA PRACTICE JAZZ!

  • Comment removed

  • This is so good! Not one bum note played. I admire how you play. Hah. :-)

  • This is fantastic. Do you know where I could find the sheet music for this? preferably via download/pdf.

  • Where did you get the notes

  • This is great. Well played. Where could I get the recording that you're playing over?

  • your really good on your sax. I really want to play saxophone.

  • sub.

  • you should not puff your cheeks so much but you do still sound good

  • dang

  • @dbzcrazy22 I think he puffs his check to get that egdey sound

  • do you have to play into a mic to sound this awesome?

  • fantastic

  • awsome !!!!!!!!

  • Thanks man I needed that.

  • ur realy good keep up the good work.. hope to play like that 1 day

  • god, I'm amazed! You are a catch, man! Keep on it!

  • Very good, well done@

  • nice

  • buena mescla men aunque se oye cuando respiras pero casi todo perfecto

  • where did u get the comp?

  • felicitaciones.. me ha encantado tu interpretación!.. gracias por compartir tu música y por permitirme entrar en tu psicodelico mundo ..

  • very nice mate!!!

  • i agree with him. i also have a vandoren v 16 mouthpeice and i havent looked back. its changed the whole sound of my sax.

  • What model is your alto sax?

  • Some people just it have and I know when I hear it. You have it. I hope you have plans for getting out there playing professionally.

  • mmmmmm sexy! how long you been playin boy? mmmm by the way should jam together sometime...

  • mmmmmm sexy! how long you been playin boy?

  • Airy...jus sayin. but ur better than me. nice job

  • You are so talented. :)

  • Great expression, and impressive. I played sax from middle through high school. My daughter is now going into middle school, and has chosen the alto sax, and has been playing piano for a few years now. She might understand better than I currently can what you mean by "head" and accompanying chords. I'm hoping you might be willing to expand on what these are, and maybe give a popular tune to use as an example. A question I'd also like to ask is: how does one know what the cords are? Thanks!!

  • Really well played.....really enjoyed that........nice tone.....Paul U.K

  • nicely done...

  • This is sooooooo nice! Thanks for playing so beautiful!

    Respect,

    Per-Olov

  • I personally played this song in jazzband.. The arrangment was a bit differant, and i wasn't aloud to add anything to the simple melody. I play 1st alto as a freshman(and even as an 8th grader in the highschool band) ... I'm not sure what to thing about the airy sound you produce, but overall it's good :)

  • I like the tone and vibrato :) I sorta got the tone but learning how to perfect vibrato.

  • wow im a freshman and were playing misty. ive got the solo but its not nearly as complicated

  • Will you marry me please?????

  • Sax is easy to play but hard to play well... Nice

  • Finally I get to hear an alto sax. Is alto sax hard to learn cause I tried for only a year and hated it.

  • Beautiful and I love the solo.

  • Beutiful

  • What size chamber do you use?,

  • awesome

  • *improv

  • omg-3

that was amazing. i played this song 4/5 years ago. and i was too shy at the time to do all the improve. but i looooove what you've done with it. i've been playing alto for 11 years now(:

  • MARAVILLOSO, you have a natural don, keep playing, Hi from México

  • So beautiful!

    I like! (love)

  • Amazing

  • wow man that was really nice.. i like how you play that song and i love your vibrato. im a drumer and a percusionist snd im trying to learn how to play sax and i want to play the alto sax just the way you do it!!

  • I can't believe your tone! You are so into it. I'm 14 and I want to be a musician when I grow up :P hehe. Wow. you've just become one of my new inspirations thanks! :)

  • @wanglemusic

Heeey! Me acabo de enamorar!!!!.... fall in lovo of you of course!!!!

Great perfonmance, good choise! one of my favorite songs

  • Great playing! And I love the quality of your recording! What mic/ recording equipment do you use?

    Thanks

  • excelente!

  • Very good my friend, improvisation was excellent, agree with earlier comment on being airey, but hey loved it

  • I like the style but i feel as if there is some tone quality missing out of your sound. It could be a combination of reed placement or even to hard of a reed for that mouth piece. Anyway I think there is to much of an "airy" sound but keep going at and improving. good job

  • Nice and smoooth!

  • Better than any records and remakes I've ever listened to.

  • Wooow man, you have great sound! awesome ;-)

  • Wow you sound awesome, My set up is the selmer C* and an Rovner Eddie Daniels Ligiture. Give it a shot if you want. But with that sound I wouldnt change a thing.

  • very good ;)

  • do you have any tips for me to learn to improvise like you ? because ur really good like a any tips?scales?music sheet?

  • Dude awsome =] how did you memorize it all. im in 6th grade and i cant even memorize morning mood for my alto sax

  • @altosaxplayer12 mussle memory

you get it from running the chart over and over again

  • @altosaxplayer12 The "head" of the piece which is the main melody and the cords is what you have to know not memorize. The rest of the piece is all improvised (improv) on top of the same cords. Most songs you just know the head and the rest is just playing your heart out.

Improving is awesome. Some jazz greats like John Coltrane improvs for close to an hour sometimes during his concerts. It's what makes jazz music so great! It's about freedom to create and going anywhere you want to go.

  • @altosaxplayer12 I am currently in the 8th grade and have played alt sax for 2 1/2 years now, I can't even do this, but I have a private tutor and I am working on it. It takes time broski...

  • where did you get your mouthpiece from and what kind is it because i am thinking of getting myself a new mouthpiece for high school jazz

  • @CalifornianMusician It's a vandoren mouth piece v16 perhaps? I'd look into their hard rubber mouth pieces. They give you a rounder sound as opposed to the grittier metal mouthpiece sound. Every musician has his own preferences, I'd just suggest going out and trying out a few. Hope this helps and good luck on your high school jazz band.

  • really good played...the song?....it's awesome!!

  • Howd'ya get such tight vibrato? it's awesome! <3

  • your'e wonderful... thank you ♥

  • your'e wonderful... thank you ♥

  • Haha isn't an altissimo A a pain in the ass? It's just right at the doorstep of being in the altissimo register and it's hard to get out sometimes, plenty of variables. Vote up if you know what I'm sayin.

  • You are so great .. I like this piece very much, how long did you learn while you was in this video?

  • Wow! Damn I mean that just blew me away! That just made my night. Beautiful piece man I'll have to see what else you have, but you just got yourself a fan

  • i looooove this. how old were u when u made this ?? this is really good and u look really young .

  • Very nice. I like it!!!!

  • nice. Very nice, I like it!!!!!

  • Very hot tone Wangle. Great timing, note selection, and excellent use of rest in between notes. Keep playin' man!

  • @gregoryusa1 Thanks greg. I'm trying my best. Difficult when I'm running a business and working on photography/filmmaking career as well. Just picked up my sax for the first time in like half a year yesterday.

  • fantastic!

  • Dam you can play :D

  • You puff your cheeks.

Try not puffing your cheeks, you get a better note.

  • Awesome job man, keep up the good work, if i may suggest, broaden your vibrato a little more, its a little too choppy in my opinion for such a layed back piece! Jazz vibrato and classical vibrato are 2 different animals!

  • Just wonderful.., i'd totally buy a ticket to listen you in a fuzzy smokey jazzyblues club. Go for it kid!

  • Beautiful! I love a good song that stirs the soul! This would be perfect to listen to on a warm summer night with a smoke and drink on the back porch. That would be relaxation at it's finest. :3 Keep up the great work!

  • Probably the best alto sax sound I've heard so far. Well done. Keep up the good work.

  • perfect sound

  • you kickasshole

  • did u make this up tourself or did you memorize this? because if you have the music to this i am trying to get back into jazz, my music teacher wont let me do jazz band unless i do concert band but i dont have time for concert. so if you have the sheet music to this i would love it. thank youfor letting me listen to this though it sounds great.

  • C'est vraiment trop bien joué , bravo, c'est magnifique!!!!

  • If you don't think you're in tune, Either don't mention it or don't post the video. Why post something with a disclaimer?

  • @p1000SWR It's too good of a take to throw away, that said, you're right, he should have been tuned from the get go. But besides the odd time, you can't really hear it too bad, and his ideas still shine through

  • falta trabajar los altos... jajajajajajajajj

  • Nice lip sync playing...

  • i love it ALOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lovin' that dark tone in your bottom register :)

  • I like how you play. I just think you sound a bit "airy" when you do some of the vibrados. Oh and watch the tuning on them high notes. Im not trying to put you down, its just constractive critisism.

  • Love it. great improv' luv d growl, very emotional, a lil' off on d high notes to d end. Other than that good work. Keep it up. Peace.

  • good phrasing

  • Mayi ask where you got the back up music from?

  • Great job man. Very relaxing. How long have you been playing?

  • less vibrato would be nice.... u have a nice tone... u don't need tht much

  • gettin funky around 3:00. love the licks bro

  • holy frick man you rock

  • Very good phrasing.

  • he's awesome!

  • Beautiful!!!!!

  • nice subtone and very nice sound. I enjoy your playing a lot!!

  • Great job! Normally I'm not quite fond of jazz, but this is beautiful =)

  • Wow, so smooth. The shaking your head back and forth thing really improves the music. This just makes me want to pull out a bottle of California Shiraz, light some candles and pour oil all over my body.

  • @eatingperson i lol'd

  • @eatingperson Hahaha, in my head, I was like 'California Shiraz...keepin it classy, nice.....candles....I'm feeling it!' Then my train of thought is broken as I burst out laughing with that oil bit! haha...please tell me people mistake u for tila tequila, not richard simmons...cos some shiraz...wait, what am I saying...some fine South African Sauvignon Blanc always good well with some Tequila....:P

  • very sweet brotha!!!

    you did it very nicely...

would you provide me with a copy of your score???

I want to play that tune too...

    thanks and congrats!!!

  • Genial!!!!

  • beautiful!

  • :[ i want this score...

  • ever considered doing more a stop recording cadenza (not sure what the real name is) and then start recording and cadenza off the last chord for ending. I bet you could do that with band in a box if your school or you or someone you know has it

  • What's the price on a YAS-62?

  • it was really nice until the end

  • smooth man ;)

  • nice, now I want to learn

  • hey you're pretty damn good. just work on that altissimo range and that growl

  • can i have the link the the sheet music of this wonderful piece

  • very good man. im not that great at mine. i dont even know what type of mouthpiece mine is. i need to ask my teacher what i shoul switch to later. im sticking with mine for now, just cuz im used to it. i have been told that any instrument can play well, but its the player that matters.

  • @hiddenhawk13

yes your last statement is correct, but mouthpiece can make a large difference especially if your just using a bad one that came with your sax. My suggestions are for concert band a selmer Cstar and for jazz a E. rousseau 4R. You should see what your teacher thinks and go find some really good players at your local shop, also I wouldn't but a super nice 100-200 dollar mouthpiece until you have a decent tone and such so that you will find the right one for you.

  • Meyer "G" Series, and the Vandorin jazz mouthepeices are somewhat popular as well and arent too expensive

  • Not bad.

  • I agree, I always suck in my own eyes, that's why I keep practicing. Only way to get closer to not sucking.

  • haha hey man, you dont suck! if this guy cant respect music, then hes not a musician. youve got some serious breath man, i really dig it! keep it up man you and that sax are best friends.

  • @JPEDANO You honestly think this guy sucks? Then what do you consider good?

  • what mp are you using? and reed strength/type? i'm assuming thats a vandoren optimum lig?

  • vandoren mc with vandoren regular reed (smoother sound) I don't remember all the specs.

  • Damn. I just found my alto under a bunch of stuff in another room! I haven't played in 6 years almost. I played so many scales in high school, I can't forget 2 of them. But, if we had a contest, you'd blow me out of the water. I'd have to call in an arty strike in your position to win! Fine job to the "untuned" ear. Sounded great. Didn't know an alto could play like that. Well, mine anyways. Well played :)

  • Heh keep playing! It's good for the soul.

  • Parabéns !! good ! Brazil

  • wow danm nice cool u rock lol

  • Friend, what mouthpiece do you use?

  • Nice tone. Good licks. Bravo.

  • You're pretty good!

Well, you're a lot better than me anyway! I'm a beginner

  • You have excellent tone and articulation, even if it is a bit flat! :)

  • I really like the end, notes that distinguish smooth jazz, the real full music. Good..!

  • GRANDE!!!

  • omgogogmgogmogm i love you omg. wow. ilove you.

  • Great!

  • go to ur messages

  • Anytime. I have an extreme passion for the sax, ive been playing it for 3 years (current-- Jupiter Tenor 989 bought with all my money!) and the other music is good, but Classical and Jazz can speak so much in just one song, i find it an incredible international language!

  • Hey put up a video of you playing so I can take a peek =)

Entry level horns can sound just as good as pro horns if played well.

Keep listening and practicing! (Who are you listening to right now?)

  • This is great! I really appreciate slow jazz. Intonation in this song is incredible!

  • @tonyreed54 Thanks dude, I'm glad that some youth enjoy quality music like jazz. Most just listen to what's on the radio/tv what mass media sell to kids.

  • good sound....bv

  • This has been my fav song to play on my sax for years... I never get sick of it. Well done!

  • That was pretty much.... perfection haha. That was amazing perfect vibrato and dynamics. Anyways i was just wondering if anyone could help me figure out what notes are play at 0:44-0:45. Please help me out because ive got almost 2 minutes of the song down just not that 1 second of it.. thank you so much.!

  • It's important to train your ear and just trying different things until you find the correct notes. Hint: E then half "turn" to F.

  • haha thanks so much. Hmm ya i gotta work on that but so far ive got those 2 minutes from just listening to you. alright but thanks!!!!

  • Le,

That is just too much man.

I heard stories about you but they didn't do you justice.

Maybe you can play the theme to the next film, once the current one is finished.

    Good stuff man!

    -ld

  • Beste Grüße aus Baden. Sehr schön gespielt.

  • @stolzvonbaden Danke!

  • Nice sound man. Very good control!!!!

  • nice control. And vibrato, not too much just the right amount. Good job

  • This is fantastic well done .Could you have alisten to my sax and without laughing give me some advice please i am 48 and playing for about 2 yrs ish just type in romeo011 thank you Tom.

  • Man, I'm a junior university saxophone player and I've always wanted to play like this. I've never really had the subtone thing down though and the improv isn't so great for me. I have the same mouthpiece setup as you, and I'm playing on a cannonball big bell stone raven. Haha, this sounds amazing.

  • Truly awesome mate, really impressed,if i could play half as well as you, i would be well happy *****

  • very awesome dude, ur sound is perfect. The bit of raspiness, the occasional vibrato in all the right places, and the dynamics are perfect

  • i like your sound :) im thinking of buying a yas 62. is does it have good intonation?

  • Yes the Yas-62 is a solid horn in all aspects. You're not going to sound like Cannonball, but then again you're also not spending $5000+ on a horn =).

  • thx :) yea, i dont want to spend that much on a sax now beacuse im only like lvl 3 player. many say the yas 62 is a good horn. how could i miss eraseing the "is" in my quote lol "is does it" :S
