@darthmal Oh well, i had a 50/50 chance. I bet i could get it right if i guessed again! Seriously though, if you know he difference why did you give that answer?
@bookercreator Aside from you, what are the chances that most youtubers would know there is a difference. My expertise is Shaolin Long Fist (Tam-Tui - "springy leg" to be exact), including Guang Ping Yang Taichi, and Wild Goose (Da-Yen - Yang Mei Jun lineage) QiGong. I learned from a Chinese sixth-generation master at least 5 times a week for over 10 years. These were one-on-one lessons, not the monkey see, monkey do martial arts they teach in some schools.
Damn that is an angry old man I would hate to mug alone at night. His hands seems to go faster as the form progresses. Camera barely catches the upper cut on frame 38.
can some one pleas tell me the name of this form, also if there is a movement map or chart that can show me how to do this form. i haven't been able to make it into the dojo lately and im have trouble remembering this form on my own (and the video goes a little to fast for me) thank you if you can help!!
@welcomeToUrMooseyFat this is the Lung Ying Mor Kiu form, dragon shape rubbing bridges. it is also the Bak Mei Mor Kiu form. Lung Ying and Back Mei were developed togther in the same school in GuangDong and are considered sister styles, Mor Kiu was a gift from Lam Yiu Kwai to Jeung Lai Chuen as they were such close friends. I study Lung Ying and have visited the School where they taught together.
Out of the many Lung Ying forms I practice, this one I practice a lot, and I never get bored when practicing it over and over again, I always learn something new, as I practice it more, I am currently learning, and practicing Mui Fah Kuen...cheers
This video is from ESPY-TV and the organization mislabeled the kung fu style and his name. I studied with Mr. Lai when I was a novice in Dragon Style Kung Fu, and although he is retired from teaching, I continue my training at the Yip's Dragon Style Kung Fu Club in Dragon Style and Bak Mei (White Eyebrow).
I would not make a premature assumption that a certain form or style can "win" against another martial arts. Although I trained in Dragon Style and Bak Mei, all systems are effective.
Its not unheard of to have ,a pak mei school studying lung ying forms this is because pak mei ,lung ying and praying mantis very often related to each other .
both styles pak mei ,and lung ying are very very good .In a self defense situation perhaps lung ying is a little more compassionate . Pak mei is very beneficial to your health.
Well, you might not know it, but the Chinese guy Pai Mei in Kill Bill vol. 2 is based off Bak Mei. Hence, Pai Mei has the HUGE white eyebrows. This "old guy" obviously has mastered this art over his years.
Mor Kiu is not the highest set in Lung Ying curriculum, it is mid-level, but it is considered a "master's" set, because those who have gotten to the level to be able to play it and understand it have a grip on the art. There are at least six sets above this form, depending on lineage and school.
Wasn't CLC a Dragon master under Lum Yiu Gwai anyway, and blood relation to Lum Yiu Gwai, before learning Bak Mei Pai? Didn't they also teach at the same school for a while? Isn't that why they're sister styles?
i only point out this is lung ying cause there's not many clips out there (heaps more bak/pak/bok/bai/blah mei ones though!). just so that ppl who want to see some dragon know what they're looking at!
"bak" is actually the incorrect romanization while "bok" is correct. But hey, "kungfu" is a misnomer as well so there you have it. I guess you gotta go with the flow. The lung ying mor kiu set is found in many white eyebrow schools. I think it has been rolled into the style for a while now.
Trisk... first post didn't work, try again... You and I both know Lung Ying Mor Kiu is the same as our Ying Jow Lim Kiu! Hope all is well with you sista!
baklungyi,my Bak Mei Sifu taught me this form over 25 years ago, from what I understand it is a dragon set that CLC liked the most,it was the last set we learned before moving on to the Bak Mei internal sets, although any set can be made "internal" I have heard it called "Ying Jow Lim Kiu" from the dragon school also,if it is "Lung Ying Mor Kiu,the most advanced form" then all the better for me
I have seen various Ying Jow Lim Kiu's of different Pak Mei schools. Although it has a close flavour and shares quite a few similar moves to the Lung Ying Mor Kiu, it is not exactly the same form.
Anyone notice how all the other styles have tons of videos, but there are only 2 of Pak Mei Pai on the tube? Not only was the little old guy punching his heart out, but we're lucky it's even on the tube. This is known in Southern Chinese lore as a "forbidden" style. I think we're all lucky to have seen this clip!
actually this is dragon style's lung ying mor kiu form incorrectly labelled. it's a sister style to pak mei. there are a few pak mei clips on youtube just spelt differently.

I'd say 'bak' is a better romanisation than 'bok', but i guess that depends if you have a country twang to your canto!
The different name comes from the time when BM and Lung Ying converged.

really? lung ying mor kiu has another name?!
