  • That's cool. I fly out of skypark 15g and I want to land at put in bay so bad.

  • what type of camera is that?

  • @vidman520 I have a youtube video on my camera setup. Look at my other videos and you'll see it.

  • @m3fordcord thanks man, this is a really cool video, I fly out of KSU 1G3

  • Man, I it felt like I used a lot of runway with the saratoga at 3W2. Now I feel not so bad, LoL. The departure with 5 people on board summer time was fun! Nice video/Instructing!!!

  • Two touch and gos. :) Forget landing a Learjet there... lol

  • Im there April 25th!

  • Are you talking traffic or unicom? that would be 122.8.

  • holy float....slow down

  • Brings back memories, My first landing there at Put-In Bay consisted of three go arounds....lol Nevertheless its a very fun challenging airport to fly into.....runway distance, distance from mainland, and the monument. Thinking about flying there in two weeks from KARB..

  • I,d like to give it a go now that I have a few more hours in. I bet with the Cherokee I'd have no problem hitting that mark. Might be nice place to take the wife for diner and some site seeing too.

  • what kind of slip would they give you if you landed before the threshold

  • I'm not sure if they would give you anything. It's done for safty reasons. I wouldn't want to become part of a NTSB report that reads, "He ignored the displaced threshold and tried to land". LOL

  • @flycrazy1123

The reason for the displaced threshold is the copious amount of trees right up to the airport property, as you can see on the final. Try to come in at the end of the runway, and you either hit the top of the trees or you have to make a severe drop to the tarmac...either one could ruin your day.

  • Nice video.

How fast was your CFI having you approach at? Why didn't he just have you do a short field landing?

Also, what kind of camera are you using? Was it attached to your headset or something?

  • Thanks. We were coming in at the standard 65kts. This was early in my training and I think it was just his way of teaching me slips, go arounds and judgments. He did pack a lot of info in as we flew around the island. He didn't show me shortfield landings till weeks later. He wasn't too bad of a teacher, I passed my check ride on the first attempt and got my private pilot 2/8/08.

I am working on a video that explains the headset cam and mic placement that I will add soon.

  • Cool, thanks

  • Congratulations on your successful Private Pilot SEL check ride!

Actually this is the best YouTube video of K3W2. A fun summer fly-in destination. The runway is 2,870 ft. long which is good for anything up to a light twin although I've seen a King Air 200 in there.

  • Thats gotta take some skill land BE20 in 3W2..Ive seen a Piper Seneca that had some trouble landng there and diverted to KPCW(Carl Keller Field)

  • How did you get the headset audio onto the camera? Please message me or reply to this comment! Thanks alot!

  • and at the end where u said someone is bringing in a bonanza..ive seen a seneca in there b4

  • Dang ive never heard so much chatter

  • You could work after school and save up or have your mom or dad get you a headset. They work great and you can use it to hear the all the "chatter" on the radio and intercom.

  • @usairways2

There's alot of traffic around the islands and nearby shore (Sandusky, Catawba Is, Toledo, Fremont, etc)...

  • Love Put in bay. I fly out of Ferguson airport in Pensacola Fl, Check out Dauphin Island airport south of Mobile Al. 3000ft by 60ft runway surrounded by water. Awsome video, keep em coming.

  • I looked it up and it looks like it's floating on a barge or something. Does it move under it's own power? Just kidding. It does look like a neat place to land.

  • A great video! Two guys in a 1998 Cessna 172 (N2634E) make two go-arounds attempting to land at 2870' Put-In-Bay. Note: At least they miss Perry's Monument. On the third attempt the old wise and gray CFI (age 18) lands 500' from the far threshold. Quote: "A Bonanza landing here?! That I'd like to see!"

  • You think that aiport is bad take a look at KAVX Catalina island, ca I'm from ohio and live in CA now. Both are great fun airports to land at

  • A Bonanza can land and stop in HALF of Put-In-Bay's runway.

  • With the hours and practice I have, it would be a lot easier making that landing now. The Bonanza that came in after us that day hit the ground before the displaced threshold and smoked the tires twice on his roll out. I guess he needed a little practice as well. LOL

  • Never been to Pontiac. I fly out of Delaware Ohio DLZ so far I've been to I74 5G7 RZT 3W2 OSU TRZ I18 PCW and a grass strip called Packer. I am at 45 hrs just got all my solo and solo cross country in this week. 9/20/07

  • very nice video i fly out of KPTK have you ever been there?
