Speaking of the 10 Commandments - coveting has lead to the corruption of society (including crime) - those at the top "promoting things" as value by manipulation of people (ego) so they can merely covet MORE (profit/greed/power/status) is the majority of our problem and it has come from the top down from those in influential positions in society - humanity and its value has been reduced to merely a consumer status and ethic/moral judgement has been thrown to the wind along with human identity.
