  • at certain times you just expect a beat to join in

  • This appears to be essentially a hardware interface for similar synthesis programs available for PCs. It's actually a pretty intriguing idea, whatever one may think about the results as shown here; it has the potential to be used with much more sophistication.

  • that.... AWESOME

no just joking ===> WTF ?? Not experimental music just a f*cking noise in my brain

  • meh- id rather hear more trance on this thing.

  • jajaja q putooo ascooo escucho puro jodido ruidooo

  • OMG ITS A CONSPIRACY they are trying to make the god sound (key to univerce)

  • This also sounds like old school pokemon sounds from the gameboy :p

  • neat..now save a patch...;)

  • Sounds like I shouold reebot my pc :)

  • for those confused this is like a analog synth modular table

  • @Sgaotdisn13 yeah, and like $12,000.00...

  • @MrSYSTEM20 well for modular thats not too bad considering that you could go as complex as you wanted to with this thing and for going for like a decent doepfer patch would be much more over time.

  • Wtf is this ?

  • very clever to say the least......

  • wtf?

  • heritage of xenakis??

  • this is hardly music.... But it sounds FRIGGIN AWESOME.

  • This ReacTable could be yours! for the low, low, LOW price of 9,700 euros! (or 12,318 US Dollars for us Americans) Get yours now!

  • genialisim

  • HES TRYING TO CONTACT ALIENS!

  • @JuiceBoxBiotch Ya, HE is trying to contact aliens with both his four hands...

  • uhhh the problem with this is that most of the cubes and things just have wierd preset effects. its not like youd be able to do anything that sounded that different from this the majority of the time. plus it needs some actually bass effects wtf

  • i want one. give it to me

  • that is very interesting. id like to mess around with one for a couple hours. i bet it's addicting

  • ummm, is it actually capable of making music though? Melodies, chords, etc. ?

  • you need a good beat ...

  • pffff, que corto de creatividad

  • It looks great, but there's no music at all. That guy produces electric noise, no melody, no composition. Making funny sounds from funny objects may be a sort of entertainment, not music.

  • @Beaumain

So, according to you, John Cage, Iannis Xenakis, Stuart Saunders Smith, various tribes from all over the world, and thousands (probably millions) of other composers and musicians aren't actually composers or musicians, but entertainers making funny sounds from funny objects...

You just devolved yourself centuries behind the present. Congratulations.

  • @Beaumain

Oh, and we mustn't forget any jazz percussionist that ever lived.

Sorry, Max Roach, Art Blakey, and Jack DeJohnette. Apparently you're not musicians.

  • LoL neato

  • @DemonWTF

You perhaps are one of those people who believe "Artist's shit" was an art performance of a genius. I can get that sort of pretension-to-be-art, sorry.

  • Whow! Awsome!!! In the hands of a really skilled guy that table could make a song out of scratch!

  • its sound art. this is amazing

  • donde lo compro ?

  • it looks nice and operates nice

    but still

    its complete shite

    what theyre trying to improvise

  • i don't get it....it's just a bunch of random sounds

  • no, it's not just a bunch of random sounds....it's an instrument that adds a VISUAL component to sound manipulation....these guys are just demonstrating the wide range of sounds and functions that this thing is capable of

  • Waaant

  • I hope this is used in the new TRON movie. It is amazing !

  • That must cost so much money! But...I really want one!

*steals yours, runs off and draws*

  • 10 000 €

  • Now that is very cool.

  • i will buy it off you

  • Some clubs might have already used this one to create trance musics, cool...

  • A way to get LSD! haha

  • T R I P T A S T I C ! ! ! !! !

  • I wanna buy one tomorrow!!!!! I want it!!!!please do it for sale!!!!

  • i would buy this over a moog any day.

.. if it ever goes into production.

  • Are these instruments produced for sale? If so, How much?

  • Well, much ado about nothing.

  • Floyd figured these noises out long ago kiddo.

  • This would be great for a film production.

  • i want one!!!

  • pretty good to make psychedelic music i suppose.. would be good for a liveact, too ;)

  • can you say trance?

  • That is one amazing synth.

  • Hey, the sound of a starting Ferrari or Lamborghini is MUSIC in my ears :) Don't try to define music. You'll fail.

  • you're right, the defintion of music is just impossible

  • @CutterSlade in order for music to be music, it must be art. That is the only qualification. Art however...

  • @ZachariasClub i believe music is only an interpretation of a sound....like what do you think of when you hear a noise....that is music....when a bird clicks and whistles...you think of a bird....its a mental impression....ambiguous....seeing there are so many minds and so many sounds.....

  • @CutterSlade hows this....music is magic....

  • thefarrisfactor: Watch some vids with Björk at Later w/ Jools Holland, they use it there.

  • Wow thats great

  • ubuntu rockssss!!!

  • Oh. My. God. This is perfection! I can't wait for this to be enhanced to be a new instrument for making Trance!!!

  • Gimme gimme!

  • Like the other guy said: "That's not beautiful, but I'll enjoy playing with it".

  • Well, it's just a matter of time until someone learns how to really work it and produces something absolutely amazing :) They just need a bit time to master it, I guess.

  • yeah, the theramin started as just special effects, but now its almost nearly halfway respected as some sort of out-of-the-ordinary not completely practical musical instrument.

  • Need!Need!Need!

  • i want one :P

  • I have to pee after listening to all of these water-like sounds.

  • ahahahah :D

  • I can only imagine what would happen if someone like Merzbow got a hold of one of these things.

  • it sounds like a car wash at the end

  • i'll take one...make that 10.

  • can any of them make some good sounding music with it? its really cool.. but just sounds like a bunch of mind twisting noise

  • Thats techno for ya!

  • i like the visual side of it too, the strength and intensity of the sound, and interaction with another sound....beautiful and cool...

  • this sounds so great, I love how Björk used one of theme in her Volta Tour! :)

  • Any vids of people actually making some cool beats?

  • the future of music?

  • the future of music?

  • i think the concept is totally amazing, but i don't see myself listening to that style of "music"

  • yeah dude thats just sound... its not music..

  • It needs a Midi Keyboard

  • what the hell is that thing? its fricking awesome!

  • svelard7 is an idiot.

  • where was music left? theres not even a solid beat cmon this is not music

  • Forget disk jockeys. Now there's Techno Jockeys.

  • I just received a seizure and a heart attack as a result of watching this video.

  • For all of you who want to knw this is a multi-user electronic music instrument with a tabletop tangible user interface.

oh yer i can cut n paste!

  • I'd love to do acid and play with this thing!!

  • lol

  • Read my fucking mind

    Good God

  • WHAT THE HELL IS THAT????

  • It´s great! You need a computer, a glass-table, a webcam, a beamer and a special diverging lense! The obstacles You put on the table have barcodes on the bottom side. The rest You can imagine!! ITS REALLY GREAT!!

  • i dont know what shit this is ..but it's just cool....i was so fuckin bored...i type " 1 " on the youtube search box and found this cool shit

  • the future is here =)

  • Pink Floyd - On The Run

  • Dude!

I said the exact same thing

  • very cool

  • The earth is flat really

  • Turn the tables with music made by others and dont try to understand such things... DJ... PAH!!

  • Simply brilliant. Both as a performance and a piece of sound technology. Wow.

  • I saw Bjork play at the Big Day Out tonight, they were using this instrument. Fucking awesome.

  • we stole the alien's music instrument~~~muahahahhah!!!

  • it sounds like my toilet flushing lol

  • ma che ve s'è rotto er sapientino?

  • That's a trip!! Are they on the market yet?

  • SirCoffigus is right, the sound itself doesn't matter, the new way in which this music is being created it's just amazing

  • Mmm bonita mesilla.

  • ye haw baby

  • esta padrisimo marcos

    mis respetos

  • Cuanto puede costar uno de estos en pequeño?!?!?! jejejje Yo quiero uno!!!

  • IIRC that guy with my name is a IDIOT!

    this is so nentindo...

bjork should make more acid hosue with this idiot machine! lawl i can make bleeps and bloops too ok...

  • If you can't see the potential in this... well that's just sad.

The idea is the method of control not the sounds they are getting out of it... those are just place holders for something that presents music and sound relationships and control in an entirely new way...

  • IIRC this guys is an idiot /\

i ownd him in tf2 last week.

lawl. stfu with ur potential, this sounds like nintendo and bjork sux.

  • I hear some Atari noises!

  • i love this nothing wrong with oldschool sounds

  • alien technology at last!!!!!

  • !!!

  • XD cool, looks funny, but not musical.

  • thats what they said to freejazz as well ; )

  • jajaja it reminded me playing Atari 2006 back in the 80s...nothing new...only a visual thing....it sucks, nothing musical about it...

  • how many can it cost? I saw it In a museeum in Madrid and I fell in love with the reactable!

  • That was the coolest, worst sounding shit I've ever heard in my life! I want to play with it and make awful sounds like that! LOL

  • ahaha....AAahahaha..AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA¡¡¡¡¡ yeah, they suck balls...

  • Wow so impressive, never seen anything like it, looks fun and I look forward to seeing more videos of amazing talent.

  • all fluff - no substance.

  • It's not Rube-Goldberg, it's actually more intuitive and tactile, making it LESS abstractly complex of a process than other means of digital sequencing.

  • Hooray, another Rube-Goldberg inspired musical device.

  • i have to get 1

  • i want that... nice coffe table.

  • It needs that some people start to use it with artistic aim and maybe it will sound better...

  • i so want that...

  • so dang strange yet so dang compelling to make one want to play with it.

  • Con esto Jean Michael Jarre la gozaría de lo lindo.

    ¡¡ENHORABUENA POR EL DESCUBRIMIENTO!!

  • I've played it in Girona, without any music knowledge, and it's sooo easy to play. really, really easy!!

In five minutes i was able to play somethink with some 'sense' :)

I'll buy one the day that sells it! suure!

  • I can hear how this could be used for more melodic purposes, but here they're simply improvising and testing.

  • to all those saying it's hardly practicle... i just got home from a bjork show at the fox in atlanta and one of the band members was playing one

  • I WANT ONE!!!

  • That's quite the amazing piece of technology but in all the vids I've seen, they're simply tweaking analog sounds...Hardly practical.

  • That's quite a piece of machinery but all they're doing is messing and tweaking various analog sounds. This hardly seems practical.

  • Very cool

  • ok i was waiting for them to actually make some music but was dissapointed on this one

  • GREEEEEEEEEEEEAT *-*

  • THIS IS THE FUTURE

  • yeah try to imitate merzbow? :d

  • I don't understand what they are doing :( Is it like Surface? Strange.

  • NIN could have a lot of fun with this.

  • future.respect.

  • suppose it depends how one operates it. how mind is feeling at the moment when playing it.kind of a mood reactor .

  • where could I get one?

  • Just a lot of sound...

  • the great thing isnt the software is the interface!

  • You could program a computer to randomly generate this 'music'.

  • in fact that program is open source, go for it.

  • all this proves is that you can make a lot of shitty noise and no distinct sounds... On the other hand, In the hands of a DJ, someone could really make some badass techno.

  • it's so awesome! I respect for Hiroshi Ishii.
