what does primer do? and is it really necessary?

it makes sure your shadows don't crease (the line the shadow makes when it gathers in the middle from oily lids) or fade. if you don't have oily lids it's not necessary, but usually shadows stick better to a base rather than your eyelid. if you don't have any problems with your eyeshadow fading or anything than i guess it's not really necessary.

I would say it definitely is! It makes your shadows a lot more vibrant, prevents creasing, & increases staying power. Difference between night & day if you ask me. :)

It keeps eyeshadow from creasing, and makes it last longer. It's not a necessity but it's highly recommended.

Yes it is...however there are several things you can use as a primer..I've even used a wetwipe..simply dampening my eye with it..will make colors pop..:)
