How could i forget this blizzard haha. When it hit jersey,we got hammered with atleast 3 or more feet of snow, and didn't have school for about 2 and a half weeks thanks to the cold fronts which turned most of the roads into solid ice.
@gsnfan1416 Parts of State College, PA, still have the WS4000 in action (only the east side of town, where the cable company is Windstream Communications.) Most are older mom-n-pop cable companies, although there have been rumors that some Comcast headends still have the 4000s in action.
I always found it fascinating that this song originally was on the 1st quarter 1992 playlist and then reappeared in the next playlist. The new playlist had overhauled narration but this particular flavor/song still kept the original narration from 1992.
the snowfall wasnt enormous from 93' but the pressure and wind speeds were . its not often you get all 3 jet streams to collide and bomb out a triple phazer superstorm
There is a storm similar to this by February 2nd-4th, but this time the I-95 Corridor may get the Heaviest Snow. I will closely monitor this situation in the next few days. ;)
The Superstorm Threat has been Cancelled, but although there is a Dynamically Driven Cyclogenesis that will form off the East Coast by Mid-February and it will likely intensify, but the storm track is still uncertain. I will monitor this situation carefully when the month wears on. Trust me, I know the weather to a certain extent. ;)
Stop trying to speak meteorolgist lingo and act like you actually know what you're talking about, trust me nobody is impressed and nobody trusts your close "monitoring" of the situation.
I have more meteorology background than you, stop sprouting false wisdom your passionate is commendable and i encourage you to study meteorology post high school and try to make a career out of it. For now though, be humble yet interested.
what is the name of this song playing? I was in lancaster county during this storm, After it was over we had snow drifts 20ft high, They had to use V Dozer plows to carve out the roads, It looked like you were driving through tunnels the drifts were that big!
WPXI Pittsburgh has a clip on this storm! Go to you tube and you will find other great clips! Also try KDKA television and channel 4 action news here in Pittsburgh
A persistent weather pattern where the jet streams do not phase and cold air is locked in the pacific northwest. Then these storms in the northwest take a track through the central plains and then shoot through the central great lakes where warm air is pumped in east of of the low!
They turned the channel into a form of entertainment instead of just reporting the weather. Plus, this old school local forecast seems more "nerdy" it's not presented in the way it is now. Now they have all these fancy icons and what not and the letters on this forecast look like something the guy at the National Weather Service would be reading.
I was eleven when this happend. We got a ton of snow in alabama. I miss those days when weather was weather, not these crappy snow showers and warm winters.
Why doesn't the narration by Dan Chandler say "Your local 36-hour forecast from the National Weather Service." This was after "From the National Weather Service" was added to the narration when the this play list started in August 1992.
What a clever post! great job! Its funny I can remember eating out that friday (I am from McKees Rocks and was in 6th grade)and looking out the window seeing light snow (at about 4pm recalling that Joe DeNardo predicted only a few inches from this storm a few days earlier. School got cancelled on Monday and Tuesday, and we built an igloo in our back yard.
That's neat. I was I wasn't 2 when this happened, I wanna know what it was like that Friday night. At least I was in the 6th grade for the 2003 storm.
If I recall correctly, things didn't get bad until Saturday. Friday was maybe light snow or flurries I think. Especaially immediately after school around 4 or so, nothing on the ground yet. But not only did the snow come in that Sat but the wind was kicking up making it a true blizzard.
This SHOULD HAVE happened again this previous weekend (3-8) but the stupid was too far west, nad not as heavy snow totals but who would have known since there'd probably be more moisture with it if it were farther east.
I had all kinds of footage on this storm and some others that got accidentally erased so I appreciate you putting this on here! Brings back nice memories!!!
I don't have the tape with me at this time but I will put more videos up when I can afford the time (I go to school at the same time and usually I have to find, edit, encode, and post the vids.
The part you see on there is described below. I have the tape being shipped up, and if you want, I can post it (but I guarantee you've probably seen that story already a million times.) I don't remember the guy's name, though.
That would be "Code 3", which aired after COPS Saturdays on Fox. (On a side note, the segment on the tape was the famed "underpass tornado" story from April 26, 1991.)
Mostly stuff from CNN and the local NBC affiliate, WPXI-11. I have to see what else is on that tape but I'm sure there's not a whole lot of TWC stuff from back then.
Unfortunately, I'm afraid not. I just taped this one forecast that night (I was 6 years old at the time, and didn't understand all the different types of forecast.) Sorry about that.

This takes me back. Back when if you saw "Asterisks" you knew you was in trouble.
Love the old school graphics. Amazing at how much that channel has progressed "yet" still keeping its same look somewhat.
I remember they always showed "Troy Bilt Tiller" ads all the time in my area back in the late 80's early 90's.

"BLIZZARD WARNING" or similar, does seem familiar.
I remembered this event, at least part of it, when in Rutland, Vermont.
It did get at least somewhat windy. But the snow seemed powdery. Which is RARE in March!

That would be "Code 3", which aired after COPS Saturdays on Fox. (On a side note, the segment on the tape was the famed "underpass tornado" story from April 26, 1991.)

If that show aired after Cops, then did America's Most Wanted air on a different day at that time?

Yea, I believe it did at that time - I think it was on before COPS perhaps. But I remember Code 3 being on after COPS.

It couldn't have been on before Cops because Fox always started their programming at 8PM (eastern).
