I've got something to say. If in vehicle, I clear any obstruction to gripping and clearing leather. Shirt gets tucked in, seat belt is adjusted. Yea a passenger may notice, who cares.
good vid, at first i thought you might have been full of shit, but i can tell you are not, so apologies are first in order, next, what kind of 411 do you have on any inside info concerning ndaa, any?
Very instructional vid. Seems like the seatbelt might actually be helpful. Many zombies may not be interested in the wallet - may just want the vehicle. Wearing a seatbelt gives you a perfect, inescapable excuse to reach toward your weapon. As for that comment someone made about a wounded perp being capable of firing back... True, but an UN-harmed perp is capable of worse.
Dont DRive ON ....... Pull forward to safe location call police before everyone else Let them know you shot someone trying to kill you , Place weapon on hood of car and have it cleared then call an attorney.
You really shouldn't teach people this drill. What you are not telling them is, that
if they fail to make an instant incapacitation (failure to stop is often the case), the bg could shoot back multiple times and no doubt would. The action in this video could get you and your passengers killed. This is a very foolish thing to attempt... don't do it.
@srondar100 Hence the disclaimer & my statements about it being a last resort/zombie drill.
BTW there are numerous police stats showing that when ppl did nothing the threat/s killed all the occupants for no reason. Again the "what if" goes both ways.
@srondar100 he should teach people this drill. the threat of the bag guy killing everyone in the vehicle is already present. if it wasn't, killing said bad guy would be grossly unacceptable. by the time you use this drill, everyone is already in danger. the "what if" scenario for what happens if you screw up is the same "what if" you're looking at if you fail to deploy your firearm. in other words, do nothing = die, and your odds can only go up from there.
@srondar100 or! i pop off 2 or 3 rounds and drive like hell pushing the passesngers head out of shooting range. sorry bud, i would rather be safe than follow the law.
Not trying to be a nuisance, but at 2:51 your finger was on the trigger.I realize that it's just muscle memory, but I don't want anybody (besides an assailant [bad guy] ) to get shot. Beside that, good job, I love watching your videos.

lol ok sorry i was able to think of an on topic question. Now, the assailant is on the ground, either deceased or critically wounded, do you wait there with him for the police or you just leave?
@CaliforniaXlivin IMHO, I would think there would be bystanders and I would drive away, and as I'm doing so, I or somebody else in my vehicle would call the police.
@CaliforniaXlivin Call the police & ambulance (duty to care) & keep them covered. However if there are more threats in the area, go to a safe place & make the appropriate calls.

p.s. who thinks that you dont muzzle yourself every time you use a crossdraw holster? These dipshits hear something on a magpul DVD and think its the word of god. AAAargh
@snoeplow So according to your logic military, LEO, security personnel, etc should do nothing when a threat confronts them in a vehicle? I don't think so. Yes its obviously an advanced technique that incurs more risk & its not for everyone.
BTW everyone is responsible for their own actions - I have said numerous times, if one is not trained & not confident = don't do it.
@snoeplow P.S. Since you believe if anyone covers themselves, then I advice you contact all the law enforcement agencies & tell them to stop teaching firearm disarming techniques.
Oh yea, as for your comment "please see BASIC (in other words not advanced) rules... " I cant do that because this is an ADVANCED technique.
BTW its for informational purposes only - to be used against ZOMBIES!
I've always thought about this scenario. The problem with me is that I am left handed. My holster is very close to the driver side door making a smooth draw very difficult. Any ideas?
ive always trained ppl to try not to muzzle themselves (torso and legs) by going from holster, over the steering wheel until on target. i believe that clint smith at thunder ranch teaches the same thing.
do feel that your style increases your chances of shooting yourself in a very stressful situation?
@inskeep0283 Been in a few stressful situations so I know how I respond. Of course more practice & attention to detail is always needed. The fact I have practiced to the point where muscle memory takes over & I dont put my booger hooker on the bang switch till its needed says a lot. However I personally think I need to practice more &/or use a different technique to help in that area, regardless of how much muscle memory I have.
This is where I think the CAR system would be very useful.
Say the threat appeared on the passenger side, considering at a stop light you are on the right side of the road, and the sidewalk is to that side? Would you just try to draw your firearm as fast as you can?
on the 2:35 min: you placed a scenario where you responded shooting a mugger who is going for you wallet, while you are in a vehicle with your family...that doesnt seem like a good deal to me. When you are with your family, you are a lot more vulnerable than the asailant and I would always leave the lethal force engagement as a last resource.
@pericode3huevos I totally agree. In other videos I go over the levels of force of LEOs & lethal force is the last resort. Of course if zombies are involved its game on & you go straight to lethal force.
@SafeArmsReview Damn!!. you`re right agian!!!!...For a moment I thought i catched the proffesional in an error. But in that case, your technique wont work either because you show hot to shoot to the torso...and you should aim to the head of the zombie...touche!
@SafeArmsReview Damn!!. you`re right agian!!!!...For a moment I thought i catched the proffesional in an error. But in that case, your technique wont work either because you show how to shoot to the torso...and you should aim to the head of the zombie...touche!
Just a suggestion... you shouldn't just drive away and forget about it. Get away from the threat, and then contact the police. Tell them as little as possible, avoid saying direct phrases like "I shot..." or "I killed..." Instead, say "I defended myself" or "I took a stand." these are neutral phrases that, even if used against you in court, do not necessarily indicate lethal force. Say as little as possible, get a lawyer.
@FoxeoVideos Those are very good tips but remember I said "this is for the worst case scenario" IOW you cant drive away (perhaps your blocked in). There have been car jackings where gangs actually use multiple cars to box ppl & jack their stuff &/or kill them for gang initiation. The point is to realize that one can shoot from different positions and situations. Most ppl think shooting & defending yourself is only done from a standing position but life is full of activities.
i showed a friend this technique about a monthago during a milsim event, he used it in realscenario today and saved his life, thankyou for the video man.
@MrTroyn123 Yep I sure did and if you also notice I took my finger off the trigger and that was all muscle memory. I did not not consciously think about it. The more one trains the better the body learns what to do without conscious thought.
I would say that the most important strategy to keep in mind when you're confronted in your vehicle is your capability to quickly leave, which is pretty much a better resolution to a confrontation than violent force virtually 100% of the time. A real discussion of a defensive strategy would emphasize the importance of leaving... Granted, this is obviously not always possible, but it's really a much better option than producing a firearm, even when your assailant has a firearm of his own.
i think its a good video but i think i would not shoot through the door of my own vehicle unless i absolutely had too like if there was more than one attacker.i like the multiple angles and repeats. btw i have the same truck so it is something that gave me a better clue as to what to do. if attacker has knife and im at a light all im doin is accelerating away. knives dont throw 9mm rounds lol
Plus situational awareness helps too. I always leave about 4 feet in front of the other vehicle. and I check my mirrors and side front when Im in traffic.
Well thought out video! Your idea of using an Airsoft Pistol to practice something like this is a good idea. I'm wondering how many rounds of Airsoft Ammo Steve's gone though so far! LOL
For all of you who feel uncomfortable trying this with your actual side arm you should get your hands on a low cost airsoft handgun to practice with first to get the mechanics and muscle memory down. When you feel confident that your not going to hit yourself with a BB, step up to using the real thing.
How do you get to the point where you are confident enough to do this drill and not shoot yourself in the upper left arm? I have a Glock 27 .40 cal sw and im pretty sure that if i ever attempted this in actual carjacking, i would probably shoot myself in the arm in my haste to shoot the bad guy, considering that i find the glock 27 is "snappy". Also, would you recommend trying to hit the head? I've heard people can stay upright and alive for a few seconds...
You make a deadly error! in the special forces i was taught to shoot straight through the door first, the opponent can see the gun and will most likely shoot!
i think i have a tip.. it may be better to have the holster above your wallet. in that position your hand is litteraly at your wallet when you draw wich the criminal may beleive better. im only 16 so im not saying i have experience this is probaly more comfortable but my tip would be more deciving of a wallet.. god bless - doug
@cockshitmonkeyfuck Because of he steering wheel orientation in USA Lefties would do well to practice with their weak side. Same for anyone really. Never know when you might have a broken wing.
First, excellent video. That been said I have some observations: You can't be 100% safe all the time, and you have to train for the worse hoping for the best. However you can minimize the risk of an ambush if you are in condition orange all the time. Just being alert and aware of your surroundings can save the day and avoid to be got by surprise by an assailant. Next, what is the right technique for those of us who are left hand shooters?
Great video. However, at 6:34, I noticed your finger slipped inside the trigger guard as the gun was pointed down at your legs/crotch, prior to extending out away from yourself/weak arm. Obviously in real life situations there are going to be possibilities of sweeping a firearm past yourself or someone else, but your finger shouldn't be in the trigger guard until on target and ready to fire--of course I'm sure you already know this. Just pointed out the slip-up in case you didn't realize it.
@mywytefeet And you also notice that I moved my finger back away from the trigger - that was not conscience thinking, but muscle memory that corrected that.
Great video. I've only done a little handgun shooting from inside a vehicle, but nothing like this. Definately something to think about trying once you feel comfortable, +1 on the air soft. Start small then work your way up. Thanks for this!
"...drive on your merry way..." LOL Just being cynical here, but that's funny... I just blew a bad guy away and now I'm just gonna drive on like nothing happened. :-) Good video though. Enjoying your series.
Good advice! HOWEVER...Keep in mind a few things. Be prepard in a court of law to answer this Qustion "Did you have an opportunity to drive off prior to engaging the threat?" Im just playing Devils advicate here...running a red light or stop sign if safe to do so may be a better option then shooting. I understand in some cases you will have to shoot the threat becuase you cant drive off. Also anytime you use you fire arm call local police as soon as safley possible and report your actions.
@flooopy1 One of my very best lifelong friends is a pistol instructor and former tactical officer. We discussed this situation. While this gentleman's drill is ok, if you have a chance to drive off you are better off than trying to out draw someone who has the drop on you!
Hitting someone in a moving car is a very low percentage shot!
As I said in the video this is a last resort and that it is best to drive off if possible.
However if your blocked in and stopped, then approached by a threat where you feel you have to defend yourself, this is a possible option.
Very good tip too about calling police after shooting and remember if you hit & stop the threat you should also give 1st aid too. Thats important in court as well.
Personally I would just practice with my weak hand (the right side). Being left handed in this situation would be difficult.
One major reason for shooting right handed in this situation is that your left is used to distract the threat & hide your firearm till its too late (for the threat).
Still if ur a lefty you could drw w/ ur left then lean way back into the pass seat & fire two handed. Still thats a lot of movement which eats up time.
Dang you are quick. Great vid. I woulda also noted to keep your door locked. Most of the time in a car jacking scenario the bad guys will try to open your door and grab at you. If the door is locked they will do as you described.
Don't listen to gateofsunrise, one of his favorite movies is gone with the wind! He don't know shit about guns or how to protect himself! Keep the great videos coming steve! Very informative and well thought out!!! 5*****
Good Vid. But, I think you should also instruct others to not be a hero in these types of situations. Shooting accurately in these types of situations is part reaction time. If someone is robbing you...don't risk your life over money. Just carry your cards and minimal cash. Hand them over to the robber and then cancel the cards and file a police report. The other guy might be faster on the trigger than you are. I know that the cops are trained for this sort of thing. Don't try to be a hero.
Where did you get your training? I consulted with several people in law enforcement to view this video, of which it is posted as a public information safety video. Your facts and advice are flawed. Get some training, you need to inform people of proper procedure on how to protect themselves in case of attack at or in their vehicle. Rudeness by the way does not equal proficiency or know how.
Hate to break it to you, but alot of officers have little clue as to what they are talking about. Alot only practice with their gun to qualify. My brother is his departments range officer and some of his stories really make me wonder.
1st, its NOT LE training - its firearm self defense & they're vastly different. Facts show some LE tng is often behind the curve when it comes to effective techniques.
2nd, claiming my facts & advice are flawed, can u provide proof plz?
Did I not draw my firearm quickly & efficiently? YES.
Did I not use proper safety precautions? YES.
Did I not engage the threat in a positive manner? YES.
3rd, accusations of flawed advice does not equal know how either.
I would also present that LE, military & self defense training are at times totally different in objectives, tactics & procedures.
If u look at a training syllabus of basic LE firearms course vs military training vs those of a firearm self defense course, you will find that all, at times, have very different objectives & procedures. All focus on firearm safety but each adheres to a different set of laws & rules of engagement.
3:26 staring right down that barrel for a few seconds right here. even though its just a video, makes me a little uneasy knowing that gun is ready to go.
I've got something to say. If in vehicle, I clear any obstruction to gripping and clearing leather. Shirt gets tucked in, seat belt is adjusted. Yea a passenger may notice, who cares.

Any ideas?

Would a car holster be a better option than reaching for your gun from a waistband holster?
burgerboy13 11 months ago
@burgerboy13 Yes that could be an other good option; especially for ppl who drive a lot.

You definetly need a weapon license for this strange goggles
Peacekeeper118 11 months ago
ive always trained ppl to try not to muzzle themselves (torso and legs) by going from holster, over the steering wheel until on target. i believe that clint smith at thunder ranch teaches the same thing.
do feel that your style increases your chances of shooting yourself in a very stressful situation?
inskeep0283 11 months ago

DTSSpaz 1 year ago
on the 2:35 min: you placed a scenario where you responded shooting a mugger who is going for you wallet, while you are in a vehicle with your family...that doesnt seem like a good deal to me. When you are with your family, you are a lot more vulnerable than the asailant and I would always leave the lethal force engagement as a last resource.
cheers.
pericode3huevos 1 year ago
@pericode3huevos I totally agree. In other videos I go over the levels of force of LEOs & lethal force is the last resort. Of course if zombies are involved its game on & you go straight to lethal force.
thanks for watching

Just a suggestion... you shouldn't just drive away and forget about it. Get away from the threat, and then contact the police. Tell them as little as possible, avoid saying direct phrases like "I shot..." or "I killed..." Instead, say "I defended myself" or "I took a stand." these are neutral phrases that, even if used against you in court, do not necessarily indicate lethal force. Say as little as possible, get a lawyer.
FoxeoVideos 1 year ago
@FoxeoVideos Those are very good tips but remember I said "this is for the worst case scenario" IOW you cant drive away (perhaps your blocked in). There have been car jackings where gangs actually use multiple cars to box ppl & jack their stuff &/or kill them for gang initiation. The point is to realize that one can shoot from different positions and situations. Most ppl think shooting & defending yourself is only done from a standing position but life is full of activities.

MrTroyn123 1 year ago
@MrTroyn123 Yep I sure did and if you also notice I took my finger off the trigger and that was all muscle memory. I did not not consciously think about it. The more one trains the better the body learns what to do without conscious thought.

@Trojan136 Any firearm fired without hearing protection will cause hearing damage/loss.
Another reason this is a last resort type of thing.

SafeArmsReview 1 year ago
I would say that the most important strategy to keep in mind when you're confronted in your vehicle is your capability to quickly leave, which is pretty much a better resolution to a confrontation than violent force virtually 100% of the time. A real discussion of a defensive strategy would emphasize the importance of leaving... Granted, this is obviously not always possible, but it's really a much better option than producing a firearm, even when your assailant has a firearm of his own.

For all of you who feel uncomfortable trying this with your actual side arm you should get your hands on a low cost airsoft handgun to practice with first to get the mechanics and muscle memory down. When you feel confident that your not going to hit yourself with a BB, step up to using the real thing.

Hello Steve, awesome channel! Kudos!

WurledPeas 1 year ago

Just pointed out the slip-up in case you didn't realize it.
mywytefeet 1 year ago
Yes and thanks for the compliments & observation.
The trigger slip did happen but as you can see I corrected that thru muscle memory - IOW I didnt consciously think about correcting that slip.
Lots of perfect practice does pay off.

@mywytefeet And you also notice that I moved my finger back away from the trigger - that was not conscience thinking, but muscle memory that corrected that.

willtube61 2 years ago
Good advice! HOWEVER...Keep in mind a few things. Be prepard in a court of law to answer this Qustion "Did you have an opportunity to drive off prior to engaging the threat?" Im just playing Devils advicate here...running a red light or stop sign if safe to do so may be a better option then shooting. I understand in some cases you will have to shoot the threat becuase you cant drive off. Also anytime you use you fire arm call local police as soon as safley possible and report your actions.
flooopy1 2 years ago
@flooopy1 One of my very best lifelong friends is a pistol instructor and former tactical officer. We discussed this situation. While this gentleman's drill is ok, if you have a chance to drive off you are better off than trying to out draw someone who has the drop on you!
Hitting someone in a moving car is a very low percentage shot!
jacksonswastedlife 2 years ago
As I said in the video this is a last resort and that it is best to drive off if possible.
However if your blocked in and stopped, then approached by a threat where you feel you have to defend yourself, this is a possible option.
Very good tip too about calling police after shooting and remember if you hit & stop the threat you should also give 1st aid too. Thats important in court as well.
Thanks for watching

What if your strong side is your left side how would you go about that would you postion your iwb on the right and practice with your weak side?
yelpatskram 2 years ago
Personally I would just practice with my weak hand (the right side). Being left handed in this situation would be difficult.
One major reason for shooting right handed in this situation is that your left is used to distract the threat & hide your firearm till its too late (for the threat).
Still if ur a lefty you could drw w/ ur left then lean way back into the pass seat & fire two handed. Still thats a lot of movement which eats up time.

Thanks for the compliment and the rating.
As you know self defense and LE training are two very different things. Defending oneself and family is way more serious.
:)
SafeArmsReview 2 years ago
Rototill27 2 years ago
that is what wrong with our country, we need more hero's . a armed society is a polite society.
riverhopr 2 years ago
Thanks and I agree that it would be better to drive off, give them the wallet, don't be a hero, etc.
However if this was be a worst case scenario and you had to defend yourself or family, then this is one way to do that with your firearm.
If it ever comes to the point where had to draw your firearm while in your vehicle and you never practice it, then you will be slow and ineffective.
Great advice Roto - thanks for posting it.
:)
SafeArmsReview 2 years ago
Where did you get your training? I consulted with several people in law enforcement to view this video, of which it is posted as a public information safety video. Your facts and advice are flawed. Get some training, you need to inform people of proper procedure on how to protect themselves in case of attack at or in their vehicle. Rudeness by the way does not equal proficiency or know how.
gateofsunrise 2 years ago
Hate to break it to you, but alot of officers have little clue as to what they are talking about. Alot only practice with their gun to qualify. My brother is his departments range officer and some of his stories really make me wonder.
roughneck10000 2 years ago
Not being rude...
Case closed
;)
SafeArmsReview 2 years ago
Again not being rude, but gos ur the person who falsely claimed I said a normal reasonable person would attack in this scenario.
However I pointed out I NEVER said that in the video, but rather its an unstable & violent person that would most likely attack you & your family.
I'm wondering why u keep coming up w/ such unfounded & false conclusions?
Seems to me ur stuck in some mindset that is clouding your judgment when it comes to defending yourself or your family, but I could be wrong.
:)
SafeArmsReview 2 years ago
I would also present that LE, military & self defense training are at times totally different in objectives, tactics & procedures.
If u look at a training syllabus of basic LE firearms course vs military training vs those of a firearm self defense course, you will find that all, at times, have very different objectives & procedures. All focus on firearm safety but each adheres to a different set of laws & rules of engagement.
IOW your trying to compare apples to oranges.
:)
