  • This reminds me of a time (long before I was born) when leaders gave amazing speeches. Now they mostly recite the words of a few talented twenty-something speechwriters who have been trained to write speeches that contain easy-to-swallow passages and mind-numbing platitudes.

  • aw no translation :( is this the one where he plays the air guitar?

  • so DON'T YOU DARE telling me I'm lying, because it's MY REALITY what I'm talking about, and yours too if it's true that you're from Venezuela... Your profile says you're from Brazil

  • @darv419 How do you expect people not to doubt what you say when you say things like "completely destroyed Venezuela" or "almost everyone you know being kidnapped", it is obvious you're exagerating. Thanks to people like you we have clowns in the opposition who have no plan nor any alternate policies to counter Chavez's ideas. Are you capable of objectively finding arguments of your own (not canned media bytes) that are actually better of what Chavez has has proposed? This is the real problem.

  • @donskiber EXCUSE ME? I'm sorry, but I think it's not me exaggerating, but you taking my words extremely literally. When I say he has destroyed Venezuela completely, I don't mean it literally. I'll extend myself a little to explain my point, since you're asking for "arguments of my own".

    1) I'm not an Economist or an expert, but I do know that a lot of big companies that were established in Venezuela have moved to Colombia or Costa Rica. Chávez could arbitrarily decide that he wants to

  • @donskiber expropriate these companies, and that would worry me if I was part of them, too. You don't have to be an expert to know that. And it's not the media that has told me that Chávez does this. It's his actions, like expropriating "Hipermercados Éxito", for instance.

    2. I do admit that Chávez's PROPOSALS are not always wrong. The politicians of the so called 4th Republic in Venezuela, in fact, did not pay attention to the poor and I think that's completely wrong. It's not the proposals

  • @donskiber what I don't like. It's his actions, because they are completely different to what he says.

    3. I understand that someone who doesn't live in Venezuela can't completely understand the situation, because even if you know all the facts you're not experiencing them in your day to day life. But we have to deal with not finding sugar, milk, etc. in the supermarkets; with electricity suddenly going off; being constantly nervous because of the insecurity.

I'm telling you that no one wears

  • @donskiber any gold or any other expensive jewelry in Venezuela, because it would be an act of stupidity. And I do know a lot of people who have been kidnapped. And you know what? I can tell the difference because I'm spending this summer in Florida.

From the smallest thing, everything's different. Houses don't have big walls and electric fences protecting them like they do in Venezuela. Streets are well asphalted here, too.

  • @donskiber

    4. Believe it or not, I know at least 15 people who have been kidnapped and a lot more who have been robbed (including myself).

    5. This morning my GRANDFATHER was driving to the church in Venezuela when two groups of criminals started shooting at each other, and one of the groups was hiding behind his car while shooting. No police officers showed up in the whole while.

    6. I know and I agree that Chávez is an awesome speaker, and he says impressively accurate things. But you and

  • @donskiber everyone else that doesn't live in Venezuela must understand that his actions are way different than his words. Just Google "petare caracas" and you'll see where the people live.

The lady who cleans my aunt's house is around 80 years old, and she still has to work. But the point is she's lost SIX members of her family because of the insecurity. That's where she lives: Petare. And her grandsons were all killed there. Do you think that's a good life quality? I don't think so...

  • @donskiber

    7. I don't really have to care about what you think, because you can believe whatever you want but you don't live in Venezuela and you don't vote in Venezuela. I only want the people to understand the things from an average middle class Venezuelan point of view. I'm not the devil, I'm not an oligarch. I'm a Venezuelan citizen too.

Life was different before. It was happier. And how good can it be to change the CONSTITUTION just to stay in the power for more time? That's selfish

  • @donskiber

    8. He has passed every law he wanted to in 5 years because the opposition didn't vote in the past National Assembly (Congress) elections, because they thought that way the election would be declared illegitimate. But nothing happened. So he had every single Deputy (Representative) in our unicameral congress. And then ONE of them became part of the opposition.

I do agree on something: the opposition is not right either. They're all looking for power. They don't care about th people

  • I'll translate all I just said:

"dude let me tell you something... I have no need to come here and lie to a lot of people about my country. If Chavez was really doing something good for my country I assure you I'd support him, but it's sad to see how everything around my gets worse as they get richer from our money. So don't you dare telling me I'm lying. The streets are full of holes and almost everyone I know has been robbed and/or kidnapped

  • Hmm, spanish is pretty easy to understand if you know a little french.

  • Chavez brings a revolutionary message. Imperialism afects us all, American culture and coorporate policies just come to do worst to the diferences betwen western civilization and the rest of the world. Our countries explore the smaller and weaker nations resources by force of arms, anyone denying it its just too ignorant because the proofs are overwelming. Every time America moves , it leaves a trail of destruccion behind it, done by their riders of the Apocalypse : war and capitalism.

  • hello can someone from venezuela tell what he really thinks about hugo chavez ....because i can trust the media from my country ! please subscribe ! a small opinion about what is good and what is bad about hugo .

  • @AntiVot Definitely! President Chavez has destroyed Venezuela completely. I advice you to watch Chavez's interview with BBC Hard Talk. You can see him get really mad about the questions he's asked. Venezuela's economy is a mess; Venezuela's streets are a mess. In 2009 around 4,000 people died in Iraq violently, and over 16,000 died in Venezuela. Government officers have stated publicly that if you get kidnapped or assaulted and you have an expensive car or expensive clothes it's your fault

  • @AntiVot I'm Venezuelan and this is the truth about Hugo Chavez. Venezuela is a huge disaster right now, and all he's doing is increasing corruption and violent death rates. This man's insane and he's messing the whole country up. We haven't advanced in 10 years now. I hope God will be good to us sometime, because as long as Chavez is the President of Venezuela we'll stay right where we are, or get even worse...

  • Chavez talks about how Satan was here yesterday, now he beats his Sabers, frothing at the mouth to go to war with Columbia, for what? Who's THE REAL SATAN HERE?

  • THE REAL SATAN HERE? like always...USA - ENGLAND - ISRAEL - COLOMBIA- UN - OTAN (NATO)...they are!

  • you are stupid, im colombian and im not satan, so have a litlle respect. if hugo chavez is so smart are are all venezuelans fucked up, or cuba.stop and think!!

  • well my friend its colombia no columbia. ok.you know... a little detail...

• Hugo Chavez is a shyster. He has squandered 950 BILLION DOLLARS and poverty in Venezuela is at its highest level and Health Care is a joke. Go to Banco Central de Venezuela web site, analyze the check and balance report, it's all in there.

  • Obama, tell the truth Niggah!!! Hugo Chavez is Right!!!

  • An extraordinary example of demagogy. Well done Chavez!

  • Comment removed

  • An extraordinary example of demago

  • The NY Times will say that Chavez "rambled," because he doesn't follow the style of American public speaking, scripted, with market tested sound bites and catchy words, fitting to a society with profit making in its marrow and attention deficit disorder fogging its mind. Chavez speaks the truth from his heart, and that shows. That's why he doesn't connect with the U.S. elites but does just fine with regular working people everywhere. Viva Chavez!

  • @DoroteoAranjuez Well said !

  • @DoroteoAranjuez OMG you're SO WRONG

  • @darv419

You fucking liar, i doubt you are from venezuela, I AM from venezuela and you are absolutly wrong in every statement

  • Fantastic speech.

  • Same thing happened to Gaddafi - censorship, or incompetent translators? Incompetence might be a bit harsh a word though; being bilingual - I couldn't imagine having to translate on the spot like that. My brain would FRY
