Great Job Jeff. I just put up a classical/blues music video of "take me out" with my Chamber Blues group and when I played it on YouTube it brought me here. You did a beautiful job for my buddy Stevie. cork
No, no, no, no, no. This is obscene. This is blasphemy. This video needs to come down RIGHT NOW.
Why in the name of all that is holy (and I include Steve Goodman in that category) has somebody desecrated his memory by setting his song to photos of Wrigley WITH LIGHTS??
The Cubs had the decency to allow Steve's family to scatter some of his ashes onto the field BEFORE the lights went up. And now this. Shame on you I say. Shame, shame, shame.
Thanks for the heads up on the "frosty malt". I did not know that but it makes sense. As for the missing name in the credits,I had already posted the video when I realized I had completely forgotten to credit Mr. Goodman so I added it to the description. Please forgive me Steve!
Not a frosty malt; a Frosty Malt. A frozen chocolate malted concoction in a cup made by Borden and sold at Wrigley back in the day. YouTube won't let me enter html links but Google searches on frosty malt wrigley or borden frosty malt will lead you to excellent entries on the Chainsaw Calligraphy and Stevie Joe Parker blogs.
Ah, Steve, I hope you can laugh us out of this one. I never get tired of hearing that song either. I still say they should play this song after Cubs games instead of "Go Cubs Go." One day we'll make it, man.
Two guys were burning in hell when one says to the other, "Hey look at that!" Satan was wearing a full length mink coat. "Wonder what that's all about" The man asks, an hour or so later it begins to snow an quickly becomes a blizzard the man puts his shovel down and says, "Son of a bitch! The Cubs won the World Series!!"
Great idea, JeffreyWk! But the only thing I would change is showing an actual Mushroom Cloud at the verse "...the year we dropped the bomb on Japan." That would add a little more humor, no?
Based on what I've seen on TV over the years, I'd like to think that going to a Cubs game would be like going to a large open-air mass. Hundreds of people invoking the name of "Jesus Christ!" repeatedly...
im a cubs fan.and steve bartman i dont really hate him THAT MUCH.yeah he ruined it for the cubs but knowing that he most likey got alot of shit from all the cubs fans makes it all better.and he got ejected from Wrigley field...hah.
Steve Bartman is an idiot! I from Cincinnati and Have always been a Reds Fan!!!!!!!! One day I was lucky enough to scalp front row tickets on the first base line. And a foul ball came my way. I didn't interfer becauce it would have cost the Reds an out. This was just one regular season game, not an NCLS game, so don't say that nay fan would do what Bartman did.
I was at the last Cubs World Series 7th game in 1945 when I was 4 yrs. old. I must say that in all my years as a Cubs fan, Steve Goodman is my real Cubs hero. I had a chance to see him at the Earl of Old Town in the early 1980's when he sang this song. GO STEVE GO !!!!
Steve was always my favorite Chicago singer and his love of the Cubs will love on. You know he's looking down in Heaven smiling on all the Cub Fans filled with hope for the upcoming series. Thanks for posting this video.
I'm a White Sox fan who has always loved Steve Goodman's music. When Steve Goodman died I wondered if he was singing about himself when he recorded this song.
That's kind of the point of the tune but there's always next year (or maybe this one). Don't forget the Red Sox did it after a couple of years of coming up short.
If the Pirates win another title before the Cubs THEN you all should be really concerned
