Nice going by a Ford dealership posting this video. I'm not knocking Ford but that Ford is a 2008, while the Dodge is no newer then 2006 and the Chevy is also 2006 or very early 2007. Chevy went with the new style in 2007 and Dodge has a clear headlight lens all the way to the bottom in 2007 already. The 2006 was the only year to have the orange reflector strip along the bottom of the headlight.

To the morons in here complaining that it was not a fair test, Ford being F450 with higher ratio gears, and Dodge 250 with 3.73's ARE YOU KIDING ME???? THE 5 SECOND HEAD START FOR THE DODGE, WAS NOT ENOUGH??
Running a F450 while the others are 3500 does not make this an unfair test. The power is the same from the F250 all the way to the F550. Now I wanna see what the rpm's of each truck were when pulling up the hill, and how heavy those trailer are. Plus other factors.
@DieselnDrums i agree, but i cant believe people believe this crap. nothing will ever beat the cummins engine. Not until GMC and Ford start making their engines In-line. V shaped engines just dont produce the low end torque like an in-line engine will.
08 450 with 4.30 or 4.55 gears, 06 dodge 3500 with 3.73 gears. WOW now im impressed. Compare them to same model year and set ups and retest! I dare you!
I'm not surrprized that the ford won when they are the one doing the demo. there just trying to make their truck look better, we all know that cummins would have won.
@JonathanGuenther cummins blows balls all they can do is make alot of noise and smoke they aint got shit on power stroke and just all around Ford toughness
This is the most BULLSHIT I have ever scene, they are running a 450 with prob 4.55 ratio up against the duramax &cummins most likely with 3.73 or 4.10. Run the same test with a f-350 and have all the trucks with running the same gear ratio.
If the 6.4's are so great why are they not gonna make it after this year? & why is every 6.4 on the used dealer lots only have 7 to 20 thousand miles on them, why are the 08' diesels only reselling for 25 to 30 thousand when. & by the way all of the diesels with DPF do not get bad mileage I have a 08 dodge bone stock dodge that gets 20mpg empty & around 12-14 towing 14,000lbs but you stick with your Ford our economy needs someone to spend some money.
haha and even with the F450.. these are detuned to 325hp and 600 foot pounds of torque. It also used 4.88 gearing, which explains a few things. SO yeah, going up hills is MUCH easier with REALLY tall gearing.
The Ford will be first up hill but will be broke down on the side of the road at the top or getting more diesel at the truck stop because towing the stock 6.4 avgs 4mpg. GM & Dodge are much more reliable . Look around and see what everyone is using to tow to make money, trust me its not a Ford 6.4 Ford = Fix Or Repair Daily
umm acctually i rarely see any dodge or chevy diesels in my area. i always see ford trucks hauling.. and ask a diesel mechanic. duramax is the worst engine made.
Hmmm prove to me why the 6.4's aren't reliable? In all honesty, I haven't heard of the 6.4's having any major, widespread problems. I believe they have proved to be a reliable engine.
Oh and BTW, all the new diesels have DPF's, so yes, they all get bad MPG's.
But I still don't think this is a fair test. I would be really interested to see a test where all the trucks are brand new models, and all with identical gear ratios.
garentee you that the ford has either 4.30 or taller gearing and the chevy and dodge both have 3.73 and both the chevy and dodge are not their newest motors so lets compare apples to apples here ford you always have tried to pull the bullshit hide the stats trick
ok, i just went on ford's website to prove this, the F450 has larger engine than the F350 and F250, so for all u know-it-alls out there that think u can just say "they have the same engine", its all lies, LIES i tell you, this is a rigged test to make Ford look better than they really are. If u want proof visit fords website and look for yourselves.
u want proof drive a ford thats ur proof ford dont have to prove their selfs they are still around and not in bank rupt like chevey and dodge they have to prove their selfs
they ARE the same engine. only difference is the load capacity b/w the 250, 350, 450. Same 6.4L Powerstroke Dual-Turbo Diesel engine from 250-550. idiots, get your facts right. We own both a 250 and 550 6.4. dont tell me what i know or dont know cause it is true. you just wish you had a ford. dont lie.
are you a fucking retard, engine has nothing to do with anything. Have you ever heard of gear ratio? That 450 has a 4.30 gear ratio so gas mileage is out of the question..it is just barely a consumer vehicle unlike the trucks that were tested along side it. before you talk shit, check your stats
Mageruler10, Are you on crack? All Super Duty's have an available 6.4L diesel. The F-450 doesn't have a bigger engine than the f350 or f250. (I would know I have a 08 f450)
dude it has the 6.4 so does the 250 350! do some more research dumbass the difference is all in the suspension and other shit it can handle more weight but SAME MOTOR!!
"capabilities" hmmm. my father's 2006 600HP modded ram 3500 gets 25mpg highway with 35 inch tires and automatic with 4.10 gears.
my grandpops 7.3 powerstroke 1999 gets 14 running around town and it has more "size" then the 6.4 and less technology in the fuel injection, not to mention it doesnt have dual turbos. the 6.4 is a flat out shitty design of a diesel engine. Ford stopped using good powerstrokes in late 2003. 7.3 was the last of the good ones.
Ford is ugly. Sorry, but they are just ugly. Powerful truck, but ugly.

and if anything the 3500 should have an advantage over the 450 cause it has more weight because it has more springs for the extra load capacity :)
