Boris likes a drink, he was a member of the Bullingdon Club at Oxford and chose to drink with old Etonians, who wanted to run the country. He is an elitist and wants to stop ordinary people doing what he does. Of course you shouldn't emulate a 'wanker', ordinary people are better than that.

Drinking on the Underground has allways been illegal. Its just that many people ignored that law and so Boris being a retard thought look, theres no law against drinking on the train. I'll make one.

So now there are two seperate laws regarding not drinking.

Maybe I should go for Mayor and promise to introduce a smoking ban in enclosed public spaces.

If the only problem in british society today is the fact you want to drink on the tube! that the majority of tube users want to use their public transport system without little drunk shits being loud, abusive and threatening then you need to open your fucking eyes. There was an issue with drinking on the tube before boris' decision - it was the largest complaint london transport had after timekeeping. Furthermore the actions of these people justifies that it was the right decision.

Actually, they only done this *because* Boris banned drinking on the underground, I'm a frequent visitor to London, and i've never had problems with drunks even as the last trains make their way home and i get stranded! I went to this party, and there were a lot of... miscreants? If he didn't ban drinking, it wouldn't be a problem - British people - particularly the young adults - if 1 of their freedoms are being removed - they make the most of what is left - some people started smoking in pubs

It was a small amount of people who caused damage, the majority were respectful to the staff and were just trying to have a bit of fun to mark the end of an era. 17 arrests out of all the thousands that went pretty much speaks for itself. And as I said THERE WASN'T AN ISSUE WITH ALCOHOL BEFORE THE BAN. Boris should have expected resistance to it.

Well actually there was never an issue with drinking on the train before Boris enforced such a pointless ban. There was bound to be resistance and opposition to the ban. Although damage was caused, the majority of people were well behaved and it was a fun evening! so shut up. :)

Boris is right to ban alcohol if it makes people JUMP ON TRAIN ROOFS, VANDALISE PROPERTY, ABUSE TRAIN STAFF, DISRESPECT POLICE. then they have proven that Boris johnson was right to ban alcohol. No member of train staff deserve to put up with behaviour like that.

The chant 'Boris is a wa**er' was more amusing than malicious.

Considering there were rumoured to be 4,000 people who turned up for the event and ONLY 17 arrests that makes the percentage of trouble makers at less than 0.5 % - hardly reflective of the general tone. I wonder how many there would be on a regular Saturday night?

What i think is more interesting and indicative of the younger generation's attitude is the percentage of people that voted in the mayoral election.

Having lived in London for the past 8 years (and regularly using the late night week day and weekend tubes) i can honestly say i've never thought 'Gosh, i wish they would ban drinking on here because there are sooo many pissheads' Becuase there aren't.

The party wasn't a regular occurence. It was a one-off to mark a point in history.

This hapened for one night, and one night only, as a legal rebellion to Boris' ban.

Unlike Boris has claimed, there has never been a major issue with drinking on the train. Even if there were a problem, it wouldn't be solved by this law as people would simply finish their drinks outside the station and still be drunk whilst on the underground. His first law doesn't even solve the non-existent problem.

You're right in that the legislation passed will not work. For one it would require London Underground to employ more staff, not to mention the fact that the unions will be telling their members not to put themselves at risk by confronting drinkers.

My point is...there was more than a dozen arrests, and loads of people being drunk and disorderly. We all love a good piss up on the tube, but you numbskulls totally proved his point and legitimised his actions.
