i would not recommend this as a proper technique. nor would any manufacture of the product. perhaps some real lessons from the manufacture would be a good idea. i have been installing torch since it was first introduced in this country
Gotta love amateurs..... dont even know where to begin to start ripping this guy apart rofl. He pushes it in with his foot, instead of going to get his trowel, oh wait, its in his hand... why not use it then...n look at all those foot prints ahhahahahah
Im going to do a flat roof for my first time. Is this a good video to watch? I could do the moon walk when i was 10 but not sure if i can still do it. Will this effect my ability to complete the job?
one glove? that's real professional...foot as an embedding tool? again real professional...also the trigger on a torch is pressure sensitive...no need to blast the heat on the material especially if you're wearing short sleeves...seems a professional should know these basic things.
You are not doing to bad. I own a roofing and residential construction company in St. Petersburg, Fl. called Dunn Contracting. When you are using a torch watch the color of the flame, that will tell you the temp. of the bitinum. Remember to cut a 45 on the end corner 4"by4", it is code. When applying modified over metal remember to keep the heat off the metal and on the rubber. When applying to metal up against a wall, 2100 the flashing, heat modified and drop it to the 2100. Dunn Contracting

The roof seems perfectly flat so would it not be a safer way to do this welding by making sure all the existing granules are well embedded into the existing membrane BEFORE the welding part? I have seen so many leaks caused by a lack of perfect adhesion.
my god look at the hoof prints hes leaving they should of gave him horse shoes then you would know hewas a real cowboy crap job im glad its not my roof
I love to see a tradesman at work, obviously this guy has done a few roofs in his time, I picked up some useful tips as I am about to repair my roof. many thanks to the roofer. Forget the negative comments you cant please everyone.
professional i have never seen a worse job in my life he is doing everything wrong shouldne be on the cap sheet and he should be using a trowel and let a loan the cap sheet is laid out wrong this guy does not know what hes doing
1crazysir, it is a patch job. Why in the world would he stagger his end laps? If he were to stagger his end laps, then what would he do about his next endlaps? and the next? oh, that's right...ITS a patch job! I think it is a good lookin job. I used to seal my laps like dude in video, but now I use a seam roller. Much easier and more control.
i do not know why there is so much critisism about this video, allthou this job is not perfect is just a patch job to fix ponding and leak issues and save money. i have seen really bad jobs, this is better than just putting a patching compound.
That's 1 of the ugliest torch jobs I've seen, Way too much bleed out-not embedding the granuals-not staggering the end laps, your actual torching methods are absurd, you sir a half assed roofer
What the fuck is this!!!! I have to agree with fatty here, these guys have absolutely no training on how to do a proper roof repair, so that it doesnt look like it was repaired at all. Rooks
this is what happens when people pay peanuts, they get monkeys. some people should really stay off the roof but i love people like this because they keep me busy as hell.
If you guys think this is the worst roofing job you have seen, than yer not roofers, yer only as good as yer last job, and it's not the certificate that doe's the job. it's the person.
You need a dragon wagon to do the job and 2 men with a torch each, 1 man doe's left side and the other doe's the right, try it that way, and you will not get pissed off.
I've been looking for footage, making a spoof roofing video on what not to do for training. Sooo glad I came across this gem! That moonwalk will definately be repeated and flipped on the chorus. You're gonna be a star, baby!
yeah I agree that this is not good at all. hes giving that seam three years worth of wear shuffling around on it like that when its hot. I do 20 yr specs in commercial and industrial appilications all the time and this guy would be told to pack his shit and head home. this is hardcore hillybillying at its finest.
this is one of the worst roofs i have ever seen you I dont know how you are still in business ill show some pics of what decent roof looks like go on to ivekem
I have to agree with itzxallxgood ,,, way too much heat,,, not a bad job exactly, but not a professional one either in my opinion,,, alot of marks and heat wrinkles that don't have to be there,,, at least it looks that way from the vid,,,
I'm always eager to learn from a professional tradesman so I would love for you to enlighten me with your constructive criticism. Explaining your opinion will allow everyone to decide if your comment is appropriate and just, or if it is simply a cheap shot for your entertainment.

Hmm lets see - how many roofs and lives have been lost running around on roof with flamethrowers?....
How many roofers have emphysema from the fumes emitted from these torches and the bitumen?
Fucking 2010 and people still do roofing like the dark ages,,,,
ASTEC waterproofing, no flame, no voc, no toxic chemicals no, no fire...
DOesn't leak either and saves over 20% on energy costs, why anyone would want to risk a lawsuit or burning your building down is beyond me....
