this camera is like the smaller version of what Michael Mann uses for his movies now. Michael mann loves sony cameras. just watch public enemies on bluray and see the amazing picture quality. YOU WILL NEED A PROGRAM CALLED "3iVx" running inside "Cleaner 6" Software. Always make your frame size 512 x 288. There is much more to it then that. However, i can't explain it here.

No, i just shoot everything clean no filters. All corrections are done in post.

The EX3 is A MUCH!!! BETTER CAMERA. BUT COST TWICE AS MUCH. Just wait for the NEW Scarlet RED. it will only set you back about $ 14,000.00 and starts @ $4,000.00

Red is a company that makes digital cinema cameras (their main camera is called the Red One). The Scarlet is one of their cameras; it can record at 3k resolution (3k and up is considered film resolution).

Be prepared to loose your zoom and focus. Gotta set you zoom to 81 to fill the frame with any Letus. You camera will be 12 pounds heavier IN THE FRONT!Then you have to control your IRIS, ZOOM, FOCUS, SHUTTER SPEED ALL AT ONCE depending of lighting conditions. One more thing. You will hear a huge HUMMING noise if you are using any mic attaches to your cam as the Letus has a vibrating motor to loose the grain on the ground glass.I can setup Letus in less than 4 minutes.

[this camera does NOT record in progressive scan as it claims, right in the fine print of the manual it states the following: "When using the "24p scan" setting, captured images are recorded as 60i through means of 2-3 pull-down."]

It is true progressive. You need to lay the footage onto the tape as 60i in order for it to be playable in other decks. This pull-down can be undone in post. If you have an odd and even field of the same still frame, you can add them back together in post and you have 1 progressive frame.

Nice dynamic range, definately a step above the Sony Z1. The shadow detail is still there and the background shows the sky without being blown out and looking too white. Hard to tell the overall quality with compressed YouTube video though.

i'm going to go with the Scarlet 8K by RED CINEMA. Chips are just to small in these Sony Cams. And they are just to NOISEY in NATUAL SUB-DUDE OR LOW LIGHT.

the scarlet isn't an 8K camera. It starts at 3K and also does 5K if you get the higher end models. Either way, the camera will be a much superior tool compared to the z7, but may not be the perfect tool depending on what you normally shoot.
