Nyboma again!!!! Yeah! I have recognized him right here. What a talent, Nyboama!!! You have your fingerprint on all these timeless song. Long live Nyboma.
The presidential election here in the USA is in a few days - It's been quite nasty. How nice to take a break and hear some fabulous music from Kekele!
Nice to see these veteran Congolese players take on genres that they experience as new world evolutions of older Congo music. This music produces a euphoric buzz, like fine champagne on a summer afternoon. Regards from Luis, a meloman, from Lima PERU South America..Come to visit us PERU has it all. Enjoy the party...
This is the kind of music that propelled congolese music to international level. It's pleasing to all ears unlike that of Werrason, JB Mpiana etc that only appeals to congolese ears. Thanks to Kekele for going back to the roots.
Calabash Music also sells their music along with other West African rumba/salsa groups and also in general tons of music from all over the world. It's a great site (no affiliation other than being a satisfied subscriber). The radio show The World is a sponsor/affiliate. I found out about Kekele and a lot of other groups through the World and Calabash music.
Anyways, I love this group!! I listen to Kinavana all the time. My favorites are Tapale and Ba Kristo.
Incredibly great. Hey these guys are singing in Brooklyn today!! Saturday August 5. Prospect Park, 5:15pm!! Getting There: The Prospect Park Band Shell is a three-story outdoor stage located inside the entrance at Prospect Park West and 9th Street. Take the F train to 7th Avenue (walk down 9th Street to the park), or the 2/3 to Grand Army Plaza (which lets you out at the park's northern end). Buses B-68, B-69 and B-75 go to Prospect Park West and 9th St. WOW!!!
I saw them in London's Queen Elizabeth Hall on Tuesday. They were brilliant, and had everyone up on their feet before the end of the show. Pity the venue was only half full, hopefully they'll get good publicity and more people will get to enjoy their show.
