You earn it first by being the first in battle for a while then dps goes in but dps have to be careful not to overdoit, it is a little bit complicated and it requires practice to accomplish this but you could keep on using instant spell like moonfire.
the only bad thing is to hold aggro, i had a all 5 grp for underbogs, and im a 69 spell power twink (dont see those much) and i tanked until i noticed the stupid dwarf wasnt healing me and i died because i wasnt paying attention to my hp, plus idk how it happened but to mobs came to me so yeah but i tanked like 3 mobs and survived ALMOST

The addon actually looks like bartender... bartender4 i believe is the most recent... and while playing with addons, you might try wowmatrix as an addon manager for updating, installing, and acquiring them. try spartanUI for a very nice clean interface... GL

well, a lock will only take marginally more damage than a moonkin druid since none of them have any avoidance at all. the druid only happens to have like 20% or so more physical damage reduction.. way to eat the punches.
This video was shot pre 3.0 a moonkin with roughly 700 spell damage was able to produce enough threat to pull agro off anything. The mace is so the guy would have more armor and defense, moonkin tanks had to mix feral gear with balance pvp gear.
Too bad it can't happen anymore with the new patch coming out, since you can't regen mana from whacking anything, gotta crit to get mana now and even then it doesn't proc half the time.
u have 100% chance to get 2% of total mana every time u crit with a spell...i play a moonkin and i'm always the only one that has full mana at the end of any boss...i have 13k mana buffed...

I saw you took every hit, was seeing the red number pop up over your head, your dodge rate is non existant, you have no mitigation stats except for armor and you would need a lot more healing than a normal tank, you dodged or he missed you about 1% of the time which is pretty terrible, sure moonkin tanking can be done but it will never make it to end game like BT/SWP.
It's a little different considering Moonkin's armor is passive and other casters have to use mana to create bubbles or fear (especially mages if they use mana shield).
1st of all: Druids will alwayes be crushed since you need a total of 102.4% avoidance, and druids have as we all know only dodge - so go on get 102.4% dodge :) second of all - your in tank gear. and boomkins get same armor as dier bear.. so the only thing here is your hp wich I guess was around 15k there and thats also fine to tank prince with - try go with no defense and just spelldmg gear.. You'll die in 3 hits
PvP gear gives resi, which is basically defence rating but doesnt give dodge. If you got full PvP gear, as a druid, your pretty much uncrittable..or atleast almost.and you'll also have 15k hp.
Its easy to get 15k hp even without pvp or badgeloot as a druid - just go pure +12 or if u can afford it pure +15 sta gems.. but resilience is far from the same as defense.. defense gives reduced dmg from crits AND hits - were resi only reduce CHANCE to crit and if ur uncritable - its helps zero.. Hope you can see this!
Umm If you were smart and raiding t5 or t6 content you would see that Thundchickens pull a shit ton of threat and have no way to get rid of it which means they die a fucking lot

hey paladinftl ure situation is completely different from his, he isnt wanted as what he wants to do seems bizarre to to other people but its acctually a good idea and people do want pally tanks there the kings of heroics lol, i suggest you respec holy though, do pvp for healing gear and start raiding KZ and if you ask your guild nicely they will probally give u tank gear nobody needs and before you know it u are a heroic ready prot tank, thats what i did :)
I don't understand how you can keep aggro though, as a druid it would only be possible to outdamage the entire raid just to stay on top with ur threat... right?
Not to mention if you dont take the extra threat reduction talents in Restoration and dont have salvation, you'll get enough aggro. And he seems to go down slowly this guy, did you have 3 or 4 healers? can see 3 blessings and Fortitude but no shadow priest debuffs.
moonkin tank, simple, have 2-3 hunters, spamming misdirect, stack defense nd stamina items, get a healer with 1600+ but notice, your take 2000-4000 more damage a real tank would take, its survival.

The reason you don't want to 'always' tank with a boomkin is the following:
- Lack of stam (compared to a tank)
- Lack of mitigation (dodge etc)
- Threat build up not as good as a spec'd tanks.
- With that in mind, healers have harder work. This video, to me, shows the skill of their healers moreso than the tank. Tankings pretty easy at the end of the day, the hardest thing in wow is healing (I'm dps).
i have a 70 druid ive helaed tanked and dps i have to say if the tank is skilled ht easyest thing in the world is healing and it must be tough tanking but if the tank is not so skilled healing can be really hard

5 mans are the only real challenge for a good tank. Raid healing is far more challenging for a healer than it is for a tank... Healing in raids require anticipation as well as great timing... The only time you need those as a tank is in a 5 man... In a raid everything for a tank is pretty much straight foward and predictable... I have a holy pally, resto/feral druid and warrior. And from all angles healing has always been the most challenging.
@ onetwothree, you pretty much excluding what the tank has to maintain in a raid... they have to maintain a high enough TPS and get over 12k in a couple of seconds so dps can start asap and maintain a high tps so the dps can stay at maximum without reducing there dps, so really the tank has a real challenage like the healer.
Generating threat while maintanking is not difficult. You only have to target one thing, from there its just knowing which attacks to hit for threat.... as for a healer you have to keep an eye on the entire raid. -4 I really dont care about... I'm pretty sure there are alot of tanks out there that like to think their job is harder than it really is. I like to stay in reality though

FYI I play a holy pally, resto druid and just started with a priest, and all healing is easier than main tanking. If you so narrowmindedly think that just becasue your staying alive makes or breaks a fight it constitutes the difficulty of your job then you should stop trying so hard. Seriously who keeps the tank alive? Who keeps the dps alive? What the hell does the main tank do? Nothing but stand there targeting one mob while spamming the routine threat generating cycle... I used to tank with my boomkin, when I played WoW, and not only would it work wonderfully, but I'd outdamage the entire rest of the group. Therefore you get a tank who's doing insane damage.

Nothing new, moonkin can tank heroics and kara due to high armor bonus and with much +def, resi gear. I heard about shaman tanking karazhan (with Bulwark of Azzinoth and BT gear) and this is much more exciting than moonkin tanking :P

PS:
The reason you don't want to 'always' tank with a boomkin is the following:
- Lack of stam (compared to a tank)
- Lack of mitigation (dodge etc)
- Threat build up not as good as a spec'd tanks.
- With that in mind, healers have harder work. This video, to me, shows the skill of their healers moreso than the tank. Tankings pretty easy at the end of the day, the hardest thing in wow is healing (I'm dps).
- Who really wants an space turkey anyhow? :D

i have a 70 druid ive helaed tanked and dps i have to say if the tank is skilled ht easyest thing in the world is healing and it must be tough tanking but if the tank is not so skilled healing can be really hard

Haha healing is not hard at all tanking is Alot harder in my Opinion (I have a level 67 prot warrior and 70 Resto druid =D)

5 mans are the only real challenge for a good tank. Raid healing is far more challenging for a healer than it is for a tank... Healing in raids require anticipation as well as great timing... The only time you need those as a tank is in a 5 man... In a raid everything for a tank is pretty much straight foward and predictable... I have a holy pally, resto/feral druid and warrior. And from all angles healing has always been the most challenging.

@ onetwothree, you pretty much excluding what the tank has to maintain in a raid... they have to maintain a high enough TPS and get over 12k in a couple of seconds so dps can start asap and maintain a high tps so the dps can stay at maximum without reducing there dps, so really the tank has a real challenage like the healer.

Generating threat while maintanking is not difficult. You only have to target one thing, from there its just knowing which attacks to hit for threat.... as for a healer you have to keep an eye on the entire raid. -4 I really dont care about... I'm pretty sure there are alot of tanks out there that like to think their job is harder than it really is. I like to stay in reality though

so much crap... yeah right like u need lots of skill to spam flash of light which is pretty much all u have to do as a holy paladin ( i know this cause i have a paladin :P ) if u die there will be other healers doing the job for u, now if the tank dies he takes everyone with him... srsly dont qq about how hard is healing if u play a holy paladin

FYI I play a holy pally, resto druid and just started with a priest, and all healing is easier than main tanking. If you so narrowmindedly think that just becasue your staying alive makes or breaks a fight it constitutes the difficulty of your job then you should stop trying so hard. Seriously who keeps the tank alive? Who keeps the dps alive? What the hell does the main tank do? Nothing but stand there targeting one mob while spamming the routine threat generating cycle... Have fun in game

you will be amazed at how good a boomkin tank is given no threat reduction talents you can hold agro with easy, every time ive raided as boomkin ive had to take it soo easy or i would take agro so out come feral tanking mace and away we went to easy + for the fist time i was able to go hard out got

I used to tank with my boomkin, when I played WoW, and not only would it work wonderfully, but I'd outdamage the entire rest of the group. Therefore you get a tank who's doing insane damage.

Nothing new, moonkin can tank heroics and kara due to high armor bonus and with much +def, resi gear. I heard about shaman tanking karazhan (with Bulwark of Azzinoth and BT gear) and this is much more exciting than moonkin tanking :P

For fun maybe? And a panzerkin has the same armor bonuses as the bear(+400% if i remember right) and moonkin can do ALOT of threat if it wants to.

I would love to see his TPS on this. A decent geared moonkin can easily output a high amount of threat. However, what happens when he goes oom?

Dont forget they get the mana on hit, which procs often, and with even a small amount of AP will give around 200 mana.

I agree with ericzed. The other members of the raid just had great threat control, esp. the healers. Even a priest can tank as long as the rest of the raid is at top of their game.
