I had a chance to go to Europe as a chaperone on a school trip all expenses paid. I couldn't go. I would have a nervous breakdown just being in the airport. On a scale of 1-10, i was honestly a 50. If i inherited a million dollars but had to fly to go pick it up, i would refuse to go.
Nik and Eva used phobia cure techniques that are broken down into a step by step guide within the pages of their book 'Your Life Can Be Fantastic Too'.
This is a very common phobia, it mainly affects people who feel they are not in control of the plane. One bad feeling about flying and it just festers and increases.
the weird thing for me is that I loved flying until I was in my early 20's and then about 6 years ago, I just developed this apprehension...I can't even link it to September 11th because I know I flew several times after without any fear...
karackattu, i think you're not alone in that case, i actually thought I was the only one:until the age of round 20 i was flying 8 hours straight twice or more a year,i loved it. then i noticed i started getting nervous for absolutely no known reason, nothing ever happenned to me in flight.now it got to the point that im considering 8 hours train to avoid 1 hour flight.i think it has to do with statistics in my head: i feel like i made it 25 times, who's to say the 26th wont be the one too much?
it's been always so hard for me to deal with fear every time i'm flying...i can't help it and it's growing every year....

well, sitting in a confined space with strangers, going fast and then up in the air is a pretty understandable fear if you ask me...

If only we were all like Peter Pan and could fly without planes no one would be scared.
