Here is the problem I have, real Muay Thia doesn't use a belt system. There is no such thing as a black belt in Muay Thai, so how can he claim to be one? Plus, I have trained with Guy Dar for 3 years and never once did we use any kind of head butts. Im not saying this guy doesn't know how to defend himself, Im just saying he may be exaggerating some points.

I do not agree that forms and katas are a waste of time. How big a part og the style it should be, I dont know. I guess it depends on what style you are doing. I guess it is more usefull in some styles than others. You just have to understand the purpose of it. Just my humble opinion. :)

IMHO, those "practical street fighting systems" are very good for turning issue-loaded youngsters into over-aggressive thugs. What you learn through kata and endless "time-wasting" forms is patience and humility. Krav Maga may have its benefits, but it lacks ethics and the ability to dose your applied violence appropriately - it's a system based on fear and anger.

@KidFoxxx You obviously don't know much about Krav Maga, other then what you've watched on YouTube. Krav Maga is a form of self defense. It is used when someone is attacking or physically threatening you. It's not used to instigate attacks on other people, or to try and scare people. If someone is trying to rape or kill you ethics are a moot point, safety is what is relevant. Krav Maga teaches you how to react when you are in a dangerous situation you never asked to be in.

Do you know about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu? I have seen some of them in youtube. They are very invasive. They take you to the ground and can do a lot of damages on attackers. How is that compare with Krav Maga?

These are not "bar fighting techniques". These are techniques that that were developed by Israeli Armed Forces. They combed throuh as many styles and sought out the best moves they could find.

BTW, in every martial art I ever seen, in the early self defense classes they teach attckng Groin, neck, face, and head.

maybe it's a way to compare levels between martial arts? I mean, belt colors are something every body has heard about, everybody can understand, if it's the same for all martial arts it's easier in competitions, etc. so maybe that's what it is. I know that most (almost all) martial arts DON'T use a belt color system, but it makes it easier for others to understand the level of the practitionner.

Well I'm a 2nd Dan in Chungdokwan Taekwondo. If you use for example a 560 degree turning kick in a fight. Expect to lose. Use basic kicks and aim them low. Front kick, bandal, turning kick. Get the opponent on the ground if you can and for gods sake remember to block with your hands. Getting hit in the face is fun...

He's absolutely right about all the fancy Tae Kwon Do kicks. I train in Tae Kwon Do and Tang Soo Do. Since I am a big beginner, I always have to spar with the masters. Well, when I spar with the owner of the school, (he is a 6th degree black belt in both TKD & TSD) he uses a lot of the jumping kicks. They are not effective because anyone can see them coming a mile away. Of course, not to say he isn't a good fighter.

The reason why you almost never see these spinning kicks in street fights is because they are increadibly difficult to perform. BUT if performed corretly and with a good amount of force, it could be extremly dangerous and even lethal.
