1) you may know this, but in case you don't paper mario came first so the battles in ss are like this.

2)besides the 2 mentioned, many games in the mario series such as super mario rpg, bowser's inside story, partners in time, etc. and HUNDREDS outside of it have this general style.

3) you are actually right because these games are indirectly in the same "mario rpg series"

I think this boss is much more memorable then shadow queen. I didnt get much of any emotion from that one, but this battle has great music with a classic villain. If only he had the DIfficulty of shadow queen.

I beat Bowser in about 8 minutes (including the first 3 rounds and interlude with twink) about an hour ago without recovering once. All I used were D-Down jumps and Watt. This is so easy if you take the time to level up to 25 and collect both Power Plus badges, P-up/D-Down, and all or nothing. ;)

I honestly think Super Paper Mario is complete trash, like I was so so disappointed when I bought that game. I only played it for a couple hours, and completely hated it. I just find it so frustrating, annoying and... different. Like the way you battle is completely different. Well, it was a spinoff. You had to expect that it wouldn't take all of the aspects of the previous Paper Mario games.

I have to agree, though, it seriously pales in comparison to the other two. The elimination of the badge system hurt the challenge of the game severely, and I'm not fond of the inability to choose how you leveled up. Plus the length of the dialogue is freakin' incredible, I mean, christ. I could go on, but whatever.

The partner system would have been better handled in the old style, where you had a goomba, koopa, etc., except you could use them for puzzle-solving and also as Kirby-ish partner characters. This would mean a second player could join in the game whenever and control that partner, which'd be great.

The story was good, but it was overly predictable at times. The Timpani-Tippi thing is like in the Series of Unfortunate Events where the author intentionally spoils the plot for you every damn book.

Both Blecks and Super (Spoiler protection) attacks are under powered and very easy to avoid.

Shadow Queen attacks are not underpowered and the Block and Counter(It not called like that but I call it that, after all, that's what it does.) Didn't help you very much.

The only way I could beat her was with Vivian(Spoiler rite there). The others didn't help much.
