I was 5 and I grew up with a rottweiler. My dad worked a lot so he couldn't come home much, but there was this incident when this guy tried to break into my house when i was 11. The dog said come at me bro. Shortly after, he departed in a hurry. The dog had to be put down due to having severe arthritis to the point where she couldnt move, as is common for large dogs when they get older. I'm 21 now, and that dog gave me a save home i could grow up in. I will get a rottwheiler when I have children

Thank God this rescue worker took the time and found this precious dog. It is sad that the family cannot keep her right now. What an awesome dog..who says animals aren't intelligent. They are sensient, compassionate beings. Who feel everything we humans do.

I love dogs too, and sorry to disappoint most of you, but when you are in a horrible car reck like that with a baby and 4 other passengers the first instinct is to survive the crash, and second you make sure your family is still alive. I bet they loved their dog, but not many people survive car accidents like that. They had a lot more to think about then the dog sad to say. It's not hard for some people to pick their family over their beloved pet.

I hope that Ella's owner relinquishes his rights & allows the rescue to rehome her. She has shown this family such devotion & for what? She is repaid by being left at the rescue. She deserves so much more than this family has given her. No apartment in the world is worth giving up your dog for. This is an excuse used by people every day in an attempt to justify giving up their pets. Pets are for life no matter what.

@orphannetwork For one trip the the E.R, it can cost as much as $1,000 dollars. Even if you went there and stayed for a few hours. I can only imagine how much it would have cost if they were in the hospital for a few days or god forbid over a week. For a whole family it can cost as much as 30,000 dollars.

I'm sure they didn't have alot of options. They're probably stuck in a one bedroom apartment.

@LeeAnne1990 The rising cost of ER is due in part to the fact that many hospitals are not allowed to turn you away if you cannot pay. If you CAN pay, even if it's rough and you have to make sacrifices, your payments will help cover the nonpayment of others. Hospitals have to be staffed, they have to buy supplies, they provide medication and all of these cost the hospital money. There is no such thing as "free" health care, we would be paying for it one way or another.

When they finally located us the owner fell on the ground thanking God and crying. After several days with no word, I called them. Just another example of a throw away society. I am, sure under the circumstances, there could have been provisions for Ella so the family could keep her. It's very clear the family doesn't want the dog. You could tell in the video clip, they couldn't have cared less in response to the dog's affection. They didn't even bother to have anyone look for her. They survived, why not the dog? I guarantee Ella will be left with the rescue group for the rest of her life, or be placed with another family.
