Larry was actually planning to study the violin wuth some of the great masters in Europe but WW1 derailed his ambitions so he joined vaudeville instead playing the violin in a comedy troupe. Moe and Ted Healy saw his act one day and decided to lure him away. Healy offered Larry like $100 a week and Larry immediately said yes. We know the rest. Larry plays his own violin lines in all the Stooge shorts and also played other instruments quite well.
Billy Bletcher is one of the best actor during the 30 and 40`s. He was voice of Black Pete in Mickey mouse and Donald Duck cartoons, The Big bad wolf in The three little pigs, Spike the bulldog in Tom and Jerry, Papa Bear from Looney Tunes by Chuck Jones. I admire the way he yells.
Oh man, this is funny. Curly was OUTSTANDING in this one.
One of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life is when the radio that Larry brought ringside suddenly stops playing "Pop Goes The Weasel", and Moe puts the radio over Larry's head!
@american2015 do you have the episode where they are working in a restaurant and they see a dog go inside the kitchen and hear it crying and they think the chefs made it into some guys hotdog?
@Hodongji I believe the Stooges short you're thinking of is entitled "Horses' Collars". In this short, Curly goes berzerk whenever he sees a mouse -- he shouts, "WOO WOO WOO WOO WOO WOO -- MOE, LARRY, THE CHEESE! MOE, LARRY, THE CHEESE! MOE, LARRY, THE CHEESE!" :-)
@ricsanta1 Oh, that was classic! I think the movie "The Three Amigos" borrowed the scene where they were drinking shots at the bar, obviously in tribute..
What I don't get is how did Larry know that pop goes the weasel gets him riled up?

Who composed "Pop Goes The Weasel", but in this instrumental version?

@8:40
That's Billy Bletcher, at the time, THE villain's voice in 1930s cartoons, including the Big Bad Wolf in Disney's Three Little Pigs.

Nowadays, my pump up song would be, "Beyond Our Suffering" by As I Lay Dying. How far we've come from "Pop Goes the Weasel".

Although Curly's trademark "Woo-woo-woo-woo" made it's first appearence in "Woman Haters", this short made it famous.
