I don't particular care for Bill Hicks style of comedy, just the anger put behind it, but I do really like Bill Hicks b/c he is intelligent and interesting. I know that somewhere during this time his girlfriend that he thought he loved left him and it hit him really hard. When a cynic, that is, a disappointed idealist, thinks that he found someone to love only to realize their are one of the people you despise, it really hurts. A lot of his anger come from that.

This show is called "I'm Sorry Folks" by Hicks. And for good reason. I've listened to the whole show. This one table heckles him throughout the entire hour long performance. Apparently besides having shitty crowds in the 80s, they also didn't have bouncers.

I don't think Bill was entirely kidding with the Hitler reference. Bill expressed quite a high level of misanthropy, an important element of the genre he performed, black comedy. Only after that did American audiences start noticing him. You have to understand that his comedy is all yelling if you look at some of his other jokes he is actually cares about his audience. This was a very low time for him in his career because he was battling with drugs and He couldn't get through to close minded American audiences.
