@BrokenHalf From my understandings, despite what many people will try to tell you about it being a Triple Tech. The box-art for the game was finished before the game was even fully developed. Which is to assume that during the process of creating the game Marle was originally supposed to use Fire magic. In the end, they gave her Ice in the final product but the box-art was never edited. Probably time constraints in getting it released on time.

To be honest, I would not want to see Chrono Trigger remade. It was already ported to the DS, and even the minute changes to that game bothered me (eg. WHAT IS A FIEND LORD?)

Either way, it doesn't matter because Squeanix doesn't care. They're too caught up with the FF franchise to bother with anything else (despite the fact that JRPGs are dying). Cause really, it would be nice to see them produce some other stuff...for example, The World Ends With You was pretty good.

@keetner JRPG could have still strived, just Square Enix tries changing it when it gets good, or make it faster when there's a whole bit delay. Heck, I still much rather prefer ffx battle system, camera angles, simplified creativity (and not so technological as the newer ones). With just the story different, main characters have their own persona, and you have a capable classic built today.

By far one of the best game soundtracks of all time. I miss MIDI soundtracks, they are unique to video games which I think was cool. I also miss the 16 bit generation of games. There was enough technology that games were very playable and fun, but not enough technology to rely on it to carry a game so developers had to be more creative than they are now.

@UltimateTibu: The picture is a piece of concept art. Originally Marle was going to use Fire to match her 'fiery' personality, but Square swaped her skills with Lucca (who originally used Ice). This picture was drawn my Toriyama during development. If you've noticed, that boss is called Heckran, but you don't fight him in 12,000 BC in the game. That was another change made after this picture was drawn. But Square used the picture regardless because it down right rocks.

With alot of RPGS today, it seems all the dames are that of stock neko cutesy titan brested women with the personality of a piece of wood, and squealing/sqeaking noises. I like the characters in Chrono Trigger, they actually had character. Tales of symphonia has a couple, but one fan-service character taht comes to mind, and she was kind of interesting.

The odd thing is, the original Japanese versions of these games are awful. Whoever did the Americanized editions did an incredible job. I would credit a lot of it to solid improvisation, having to work with what you had. There's only so much that could be added or edited to have the Americanized version appeal to audiences.

The problem is, that as soon as audiences demanded to get the unaltered Japanese versions, we started to realize why they were Americanized to begin with!

Who created the game? Japanese DOES NOT have to fit in with English rules, and vice versa.
