karate is indeed hardcore specialy uechi-ryu and kyokushin.uechi-ryu ist one of the most physical karate styles since they spend so much time on sanchin to harden up their bodys.
@Alesandros356 dude the temple would have been okinawan thus naming the Japanese and also forcing the Japanese not to raid a budhist temple of another culture
It is only logical that if you want to master a style, your best bet is to train at the place where that style originated from.
Brazil is part of the 'western world'. If I wanted to travel abroad to further my BJJ studies, would you suggest that I go to Japan (because you seem to think the martial artists there are more dedicated)? Or would it not make more sense to go to Brazil (the source of BJJ)?
BJJ, Boxing, Wrestling and Sambo. Highly effective styles that originated in western countries.
@abbas224 Sambo is Russian ( which is kinda eastern ) and Wrestling is too old to be traced down properly however greco roman is european so west indeed
BJJ = western??? BJJ is japanese jui jitsu with extra focus in ground fighting mainly chokes.....
Japanese jiu jitsu everything bjj have... dont believe in Gracie propaganda they never created anything... they learn judo and jiu jitsu from a Japanese Master Maeda, they just focus in some aspect of jiu jitsu ground moves..... THEY DID NOT CREATED NOTHING.
I wish I could be trained like this, breathing excercises, hardening excersises, all we get is Warming up, then Techniques, then Katas, and then some sparring. XD
strengthening of your bones anywhere in your body thru punching and kicking wood and rocks is going to hurt a lot in the end. mas oyama was in horrible pain for last 3 yrs of his life..
Why can't they train Karate like this in Ireland or the UK. Seldom do you see anything but kata based forms with little to no real strength or exertion needed. Shotokan certainly needs more of this.
Before watching this I had no Idea Karate was so Hardcore, but in the western cultures no-one would be willing to dedicate most of their lives to martial arts study, so I suppose they have been watered down somewhat.
@UKSlayerX5 i live in england and do kung fu and im willing to learn kung fu to the rest of my life i would even go to china and train with the monks if i could but my point is that some ppl in the west might be willing to dedicate their whole lives to a martial art.
This is a very ignorant statement. Are you saying that people from 'western cultures' lack dedication?
Granted, the karate instruction you see in this video is undoubtedly of a higher quality than what you would find in most karate dojos in Western countries. But this shouldn't come as much of a surprise, seeing as how they are, after all, at the birthplace of karate. This isn't about oriental vs western culture.
@UKSlayerX5 its wierd in the west. In england people take the piss out of martial artists but dont realize how tough they are. Sadly karate and a lot of martial arts arent taught that well in general here. Theres so much padding and protection for health and safety that you never learn or internalize the need to dodge block or strike hard. I was in a kung fu class and after like 10 minutes of actual tech it turned into padded up sad punch-tag where all the technique went out the window :/
here is the beauty of this martial art...too bad in the western culture people don´t see it :(
