What I really don't get is how come Sunnanda Deshapriya can talk about the present situation in Sri Lanka. He was not in the country for many months. If Saman Kumara Ramawikrama or any other personnel who really went to the battle ground made a statement, that could have been justified. So how Mr. Sunanda is receiving these bogus information to his door step. Only two possibilities other than SL Defense ministry and SL media. LTTE & FOREIGN MEDIA!!!.
So what we must ask is whether these statements of Mr. Sunanda which was backed by fake information have enough credibility to consider in a Council in the standards of UNHRC. Remember no NGOs, Foreign media or any outsider (foreigners) were allowed to the war zone. That was one of the main objection to GOSL from international community (Actually West end). I am really happy to see that SL politicians have become brainy enough to read the bottom line of the story. (With respect to their act)
There are satellite photos showing large craters (made by shelling) everywhere. That's evidence enough, my misguided friend. You were aware that the 'hypocritical' Americans were observing us via UAV's, right?
The information giving out by the SL Defense Ministry and Local media is not as bad as Mr. Sunanda says. As we all know they are giving an optimistic picture which totally contradicts with what Mr. Sunanda is saying. In this context, I won't really surprise if Mr. Sunanda receives an award from an INGO or any foreign organization for the bravery he exhibited. Yes, he must be given a medal because one must have GUTS to betray his/ her motherland at an international summit for personal gains.
No one was allowed to go to the battlefront unless they were pro-government journalists, you know that. Ramawickrama didn't deserve any award--there were a lot of other people who could've done what he did (with protection from the army, which he undoubtedly received), expect they were barred from going anywhere near the north by the GOV. And that same GOV gives awards to people like Ramawickrama for 'bravery'! lol What a joke.
