  • After reading the disgusting comments by the overt racists and then the sad but pure innocence of the communist "mind murdered" person who spells believe "belive" while complaining about spelling? Sunshine- NASHVILLE NEEDS US!

  • its sad people bring arguments to pages like these its music

  • Truly a FABULOUS woman in every respect!!!!

Note to today's female singers: THIS is the way to do a career!

  • you tube is a great tool..it helps one remember beautiful memories..but they really need to do something about the profane names.God help me, for i truly do not understand as a Christian woman why He allows ignorance to continue even breathing..such as stupid.the name over the M. Monroe comment by "stupid".while i do not agree with our President, or his policies.i do respect the office he holds..that is a command, not a suggestion..you guys had better find JESUS, before?

  • This reminds me of my own, dear Daddy, who was a preacher for the Church of Christ when I grew up, and still is, even though he's almost 70. I left the church for many reasons by the time I was 18 or so, but Daddy never, EVER was bad to me or denied me. It makes him sad to this day, but he still loves me and prays for me. I love you so much, Daddy! You are a true Christian!

  • This song reminds me of my Dad, Victor Jackson, the best preacher, ever! Nothing like a Pentecostal sermon to get you fired up! Daddy has been gone for four years and this song just came to mind to post on FB in honor of him for Father's Day. Thank you so much for sharing this video with us!

  • I wish my parents were still alive: They would truely enjoy these YouTube Tunes!

  • This song brings back memories right from my childhood.Mom & Dad had the 8-track of The Best of Dolly & Porter.

  • White American culture at its best.

  • Dolly sings like a bird :)

  • jim belushi??

  • Gotta love the suits Porter wore. Took a mighty big set of plums to wear suits like that.

  • Different country back then. Our Constitution was meant to govern a moral people. Private lives were never perfect, yet back then we knew how to act in public. We knew what our better angels were.

  • She's a goddess.

  • What a ripper.

  • Well said Onebaud - and probably the sweetest Diva!

  • @StupidObamaNigger Yeah right, your dad dated Dolly Parton & mine dated Marilyn Monroe!

  • @StupidObamaNigger Well maybe if you spelled her last name correctly wede belive you and also maybe wede belive you if youde respect our presednt wede belive you two you dumbASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @StupidObamaNigger Hmmmm. Ms. Parton was born in 1946 and your old man "dated" her in the 1950s? Guess dear old Dad was a pedophile, eh?

  • Now that is very good

  • You can't beat this!!!

  • I was a neighbor of Porters. He was wonderful.

  • When my grandmother was a child she rode the school bus with Dolly.

  • "Good old America" - I love it!

  • soooo good and she has such great energy! Love her

  • fab, learning on my guitar

  • Oh my do I ever have a frog in my throat. speechless

  • This song reminds me of my Paw-Paw. He was an old time preacherman who never asked for pay.

  • Dolly is great, and alwas will be.

  • Happy birthday Dolly Rebecca.

  • wonderful!

  • voice of an angel.

  • She wrote beautiful songs even then and proved she was no cast member even to Porter. Dolly was, and is a diva in a class by herself wearing a coat of many colors.

  • @onebaud "diva" means "goddess". If you call her a diva, and she is a human bein, then that is idolatry, which is forbidden to us.

  • @howtoplanaparty Words are definied by usage, not etymology. By your logic, if you were to call someone a dyke, you would be calling them a levee. Or a bitch a female canine. Usage, not etymology.

  • @howtoplanaparty Oops, defined*

  • so awesome

  • Love them!!!! =)

  • haha i love how those two guys just slide in as the song starts

  • Those "two guys" are country music legends The Wilburn Brothers on whose show this clip occurred.

  • Yes, you're right, so many of these entertainers have not been saved. However, if they have influenced one person to be saved, with the beauty of their songs, then it's worth while. Many Ministers get paid for preaching to us but they are doing very evil things in their private lives. Just a thought.....

  • @omnichordgal Dolly Parton was saved. So was Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline.

  • @jn829 how do you know that?

  • I have always enjoyed the songs that Dolly parton has song . and this one i just can't get enough of.. (^_^)

  • Always loved that song.Thank you for posting.

  • The Hair, The Sparkles, the Music! God I miss the old country.

  • "Daddy was an old time preacher man" showcases the genius of Dolly Parton.

She could write and sing the songs

that touches way down into the very

Heart of man. She is still a living giant

among those that can only look up to

see the huge shadow she has cast

    in the industry!!

  • they're so cute !!

  • Would you have the album of Porter-Confessions of a broken man. One of the best albums of all time. This song is one of my all time favorites. Good to sing along with

  • c'est vraiment super

  • Four legends on stage, three are gone.Reality is so sad,but the 'golden memories' remain.

  • I would love to see a remake of "A Star Is Born" set in this day with Dolly and Porter in mind. fictitial of course

  • This is a 1973 clip and Dolly is showing that she has become more worldly or beat down. In the clips from 1968 she still has the sparkle and twinkle of innocence. The differnce is most strinking from the clip of Porter's show when they sing "The Last Thing on My Mind"

  • It is interesting how you equate being "worldly" with being beaten down. Very odd interpretation of her career, but we all have our own opinions.

  • from a Christian perspective, worldy means not living a Christian lifestyle. Often times Christians who are astray from truly living thier beliefs are being more "worldly," and it weighs heavy on them. I don't necessarily equate that with being beat down. As for Dolly being beat down, I meant by 1973 she had been up against the Nashville power-brokers and had to fight hard to get what she rightfully deserved. As a woman she had to fight harder to be taken seriously.

  • and i might add, she did it better than any womon alive, Mac

  • dolly is cool but isn't everyone else an alien from another planet wot looks like a lizard and wears a "human disguise" - not very convincingly i may add

  • it's so nice how gospel music and country music go hand and hand together. Gospel was also the basis for early rock-in-roll. Most all country singers started singing gospel music 1st. just a wonderful song! Thanks!

  • good video

  • this is a pretty song it reminds me of my papa so much he died a few month ago

  • One of my favorite Porter & Dolly songs. Absolutely beautiful.

  • Notice he didn't ask Dolly if her Granddad was the inspiration for the song.

  • That is by convention since Porter was the band leader and Dolly, at least at that time was second on the bill to Porter.

  • I know. But it's like when you are a child and the doctor or whatever talks over you to your mother. Very patronising.

  • Check the sparkle in them rhinestones baby!!!

  • she is soooooooooo beautiful

  • dolly's voice make's me hot in the heart!!!!!

  • My god, they look so young! I love Dolly P.

  • Such a great song. (5*) Sherry
