Ah, one of the great unsung TAS episodes. This script and its spectacular animation are the picture of sincerity, unafraid to race head-on with addiction and heartache and family and faith. Not to mention, there's just something special about Batman versus the mafia . . . modern fiction's chocolate and peanut butter.
Terrific and quite adult episode about mafia issues, this show was quite adult for a near prime time animated show that even my big brother and my mom watched it as this is one of her fave episodes with Almost Got them being her fave.
Most shows from the 90s were terrible, but Batman was definitely a gem. I have to give nods to X-Men as well- there were so great episodes from it as well.
I just finished watching this episode....the thing got me in tears...truly touching as @cavezon16 said you understand it when your older. And I agree with @Aelflar, So true man...so true. 90s cartoons FTW they just to make it like this anymore.
This was an awesome episode for they days when people weren`t afraid to mix cartoons with food for thought; just because the target audience is children doesn`t mean that you have to spoon feed them pink unicorns and fart jokes! -_- 90s cartoons FTW
@BattleButlerJeeves I can safely say that both FIM and BTAS are their own kinds of incredibly awesome. Needless to say, they're still very different animals [/no pun intended].
It really did. Not too many "kids shows" deal with fading mob bosses whose life is in shambles. His wife's left him, his son was in rehab. Nothing ever really came of his life of crime. The flashbacks to his childhod were done well too.
Better episodes? Are you kidding me? Al of the episodes of the Batman cartoon series from the early 90's were awesome. Truely legendary episodes compared to the stuff that is sown on TV today. If only cartoons would become this exiting again. :-( I miss the old Fox Kids from back in the old days. :-(

All episodes were superp. This cartoon, 90s Superman tas, New Batman tas, Superman Batman adventures, JL, JLU were all strong written material.
I remember watching this along with Animaniacs after school. Those were the days. Now they do to much of the animie crap.

"Incredible" is the right word for this animated serie.
But I'd rather say "Marvelous".
I'm bored with TV nowadays.
