  • I love it!! Kickboxer was one of my favorite movies as a kid! Still iz hmmmmm..

  • 15 bananas watched this video

  • Dayum!!! Your ribs are gone if he kicks you!!!

  • Are there any UFC fighters with this level of conditioning? I'm curious about how well they do.

  • actually he's kicking the small banana tree that is much more weaker HAHAHA. just kidding..

  • maybe if you`re overdoing training your shins, won`t they become too hard and fragile like glass so then they snap easily ? So better keep a balance with training, At least that`s what i`ve heard

  • @Duiveltje78 Well, you can get that by trying to be a movie star and try kicking down oak trees. Hitting a bone against something harder than it can cause hairline cracks and such. Banana plants and sand bags are OK because the shin bone is harder than them.

  • When people break their legs kicking it's because they are kicking with the wrong part of their legs.

  • ahhahah, i read "Muay Thai Shing Murdering" at first.

  • Bamboo rolls are better for shin conditioning. It builds density without risking injury

  • I Sware right there all those kicks look like they will get you when you're older. it looks like your shins will eventually snap with all that. believe me ive seen some accidents involving shin conditioning

  • @DavidSizcool true, if you hit solid objects, please read my replies before and you will understand the idea behind it. How older I have to get btw I am 49......almost 50

and I am still training every day.

  • @marcuslatimer i see your point but in my opinion it looks really brutal ive seen a live accident in kickboxing when i was 19 and a grown mans shin snapped in to parts... I just get really frightened when i see someone train their shins like this it looks like it hurts like hell

  • @marcuslatimer Wolffs law! wiki/Wolff's_law

  • @DavidSizcool Banana trees aren't hard wood.

  • @DavidSizcool Banana trees aren't compact and dense ergo not completely solid like an apple tree for example. It's similar to kick another persons leg. It has a combination of stability and flexibility.

  • Bananan trees dont hurt i kicked one day easily with no pain...or i just have solid shins.

  • @ZzJustinZ Its not meant to hurt you, try kicking bigger ones and older, this will be good practise, then move on to a heavy bag filled with grinded tyres from a car, this will hurt at first but once you are used to it (500 times a day, left and right leg) the legs are conditioned.....Then try a fight with someone in the ring, then you know why you have practised so much (of course you need to practise yr combinations).... good luck

  • @marcuslatimer Where would i go about finding grinded or shredded car tires? I want to switch from sand to see what a difference it makes

  • @DJDdph try recycling companies, that works here in holland

  • @marcuslatimer i kick tires with the metal stil in em all puit on top of eachother on a long metal pole then wrapped in duct tape thats even better training imo

  • Trust me, its harder than it looks.

  • the sound effect is so fake lol you can even hear the button being pressed each time

  • Thats bullshit it is filmed with a G5 canon, no sound effects

  • Hey, this is Martin? =)

  • Ja en jij bent Armani Banani de jongen die les bij mij heeft en die ik de mongkol heb geleend?

  • how bout a bakers rolling pin?

  • not good, doesnt give in, you need something hard but also compressable (bag filled with grinded car tires is great)

  • Aw man.... you had me going

  • Comment removed

  • really? teach me more about shin

  • Yea its known as Wolff's law correct?

  • Are there any negative effects, long lasting or short term for conditioning methods like this?

  • @jake66664:

Well technically, he is causing lots of tiny fractures in the bone which, upon healing, are what leave the shin even harder than it was, because there is more bone matter than before. I dont think there is a negative long term affect to this, but the benefits dont last forever if you dont constantly train either, because all peoples bones naturally degrade some over time. I hope that helps.

  • You have a point my friend!

  • @jake66664 no none at all the only affect is your shin hardens. it hardens because u have micro fractures which u barely feel only hurts for like the first 2-3 days but anyways when they heal they comeback stronger. but no long lasting effects it only helps you

  • Yes that was the comment i was looking for, for i have heard the same thing in a documentairy on national geographic.

  • Banana is not a tree, it's a plant. try it on a tree and we'll see

  • what I do is just wrap a hemp rope around a tree trunk about 6 inches in diameter. Make sure it securlly tied tight with no spaces in between the coils and just shin kick it untill the rope frays

  • the gym bag we have in our gym is harder than a banana tree...why the hell am i going to be impressed?

  • that was not the intention.... kick yr own bag and be happy, read my other replies.

  • hahahaha yep i am kicking the tree you are so right i should have been faking a real oponent here, that would have been truly a karate move ! Man I invite you to come to my school in Eindhoven the Netherlands you can show me how to do it properly ok?, the lesson will be free of charge.

  • i have a question that might seem silly. where exactly on the shin are muy thai guys striking? like what exactly is the correct technique?

  • u can use any part of the shin but it might be better when u use the lower shin

  • 2 inch above the ankle and two inch below the knee is the strike area

  • for those who keep saying improper technique, just STFU, quit acting liking you're an expert at this.

  • most of the fighters in thailand kick banana trees to develop their kicking skills..not to harden their shins

  • yeah a century ago. now they go to gyms and kick bags and paddings.

  • yea..but muay chaiya fighters in thailand still kicking banana trees

  • and thats why they are much better than any modern fighters

  • Ha ha, thai fighters are like every other fighter. It depends on their training and on their goal. Banana trees are great and so are cork trees... if you attack a redwood tree they are also soft and good for hitting.

  • good comment, kicking the bag is just as good

  • i dont know about that..but look at his attire..i think he was not doing this during his training..or maybe he just want to show the video..

  • he just train to harden his shin..he is not train with the technique..

  • yea..this is muay thai..this is how muay thai fighters training in thailand

  • thats how they train in thailand

  • Yes it is, what do you know mr pizza? Ever trained Muay Thai before?

  • On this video our 'hero' is kicking a young green tree doing a lot of noise. But i would like to see him kicking a real old and yellow banana trunk like i have here at home: i prefer to continue my training on my wavemaster.

  • Whats your point? A wavemaster is a piece of equipment for thai bo class or something like it. It has nothing to do with serious boxing. Try filling up a heavy bag with grinded tyre rubber and kick it, that will give you an understanding wha't its all about. Mr salsa man /woman.....

  • Wolff's Law

  • Right, since i live in England i think Banana trees are going to be hard to find. so is it okay to just go in my back garden and kick a tree or would just damage the bone??

  • banana trees are not hard wood trees. they are more like thick stalks of sumthing and are sumwhat pliable

  • Not a good idea, fill a big bag with rubber from old tires (recycling companies) same thing......

  • kicking a bag does work u just have to do it alot. ive kicked trees, metal poles, i even tried rolling wood sticks, but most of what i do is heavy bag work...i started on the softer bags and i moved up to the harder ones. plus i talked to people who say all the things i tried in the past are bad

  • What the hell is wrong with people watching this clip. These banana trees aren't soft and flexible--try kicking one. His legs are just conditioned. It's not supernatural and only explainable by saying it is an Illusion. It's a scientific fact. His legs have adapted to kicking against solid surfaces. The guy done good training so give him some credit. Lets not make provide weird explanations like: 'the tree is soft' and 'it's an illusion'.

  • Exactly. It doesnt hurt them because they've damaged the nerve so many times in there leg so they cant even feel it.

  • not true, it still hurts. they just take the pain. besides banana trees arent that much harder than a heavy bag, otherwise why arent there videos of guyz kicking oak, or pine trees, or any harder tree for that matter

  • illusion my ass, this guy has spilled a lot of sweat and gone through a lot of pain before his shin hardened...

  • some people in thailand do not have heavy bags so they practice on banana trees. its not an illusion because they're not as hard as you would expect it to be. (like FBman42 said)

  • it sounds like somebody is shooting!

  • when i were in thailand with my trainer we did this to

  • I can kick a banana without damaging my shin.

  • you have to remember a banana tree is not hard like other trees. punching bag is just as good.

  • yr right, see my comments

  • holy shit he was making that tree fuckin dance

  • its a banana tree. many ppl who train in asia use it instead of boxing bags. they have quiet the same stability then a human body. looks brutal but not really that hard to do. shin conditioning takes a long time. do it slow and do not injure ur boneskin.

  • Amazing. So brutal.

  • This causes bruises that eventually calcify it you dont ice (bringing blood to the damaged part to repare it) additionally when you break bones they heal harder so in causing minute fractures and with proper rest you are building bone sheaths.

  • bruises dont calcify, micro fractures do. And breaks actually weaken the bone and make subsequent breaks more likely

  • if your bone breaks it will heal and be even stronger the next time

  • thats not true, major trauma to the bone will weaken it, micro fractures will heal and strengthen it

  • ive seen it on fight science on NGC. maybe you can see it at google video too. but anyway, there they say it will strengthen when it breaks.

  • @sagmann20 exactly...it's exactly as it with muscles. Muscles only get stronger because we get micro-tears and even microscopic segments of muscle that gets torn off altogether when we work out. If we didn't get these micro-tears, we'd never get any stronger and that applies to what you're saying about the shins as well.

  • @mjohanss1975 ive also heard that doing things like kicking trees and poles, causes what they call localized trauma, which makes breaks easier. but a good heavy bag spreads the impact across a wider area and is safer

  • zenbrawler at least 100 times a day seven days per week. In a month you'll be a ture master, lol!

Seriously this as dumb going to war for peace.

When bits of your shin begin to fragment it's only going to make your shins weaker.

Safer to stick to a bag. Sarting at a softer one and working your way up to a harder on.

  • What are you talking about? First it's 1000 times a day. Second, making small microfractures on your leg is what makes the bone bigger and stronger (Because it heals larger than it was before) Hitting a heavy bag will only harden the skin.

  • nah hitting a heavy bag hardens the bone too

  • what part of the shin do you strike with? thank you

  • the bottom part, like near the foot, but not the foot!

  • thank you

  • anywhere below the knee and above the ankle. Shin only.

  • lol like kick boxer.

  • I heard that you can't actually harden your shin but you do kill the nerves in it so that you don't feel any pain

  • you can it's called "wulfs law" i think, bits of the structure of the bone fragments and the bits floating around form a hardened cist... i think don't quoute me word for word look it up

  • you can it's called "wulfs law" i think, bits of the structure of the bone fragments and the bits floating around form a hardened cist... i think don't quoute me word for word look it up

  • Americans should just stick to there growth hormons. Thai boxing is much harder

if a white guy can fight like andy hug then im all ears.

  • lol... he forgot his axe at home? dude.. if you want some bananas.. just use your hands. don't have to act like monkeys! white guys kicking bananas trees always look funny!!! lol

  • Lol mojopagirl! Well I fully agree with you but people do funny things in life dont they? Otherwise we all would be perfect people so to speak....Guess who I have in mind... (btw I am not white...) lol!

  • shit i'd like to learn muay thai at least a bit...(no such school where I live...)

  • hey too!

  • I want to go.

  • Hes hitting a banana tree, its not hard like pine or oak actually its quite similar to the heavy bag. its a realy good way to condition.

  • I love Muay Thai, and I would love have a real Thai master to teach me, but I live in the U.S.

  • dont let that stop you man, theres camps in thailand that accept foreigners..im heading out there within the next year or so.

  • i went last year for the first time and im going back this september.

    Check out rawai muay thai.

  • hey how did you like rawai muay thai, I'm going to phuket this september and have been looking at there website. Anything good or bad or both you;d like to share? thanks!

  • loved it... its good for your first time going to Thailand..

There are alot more serious fighting gyms but this is a good place with good people.. Very family orientated..

  • as far as "seriousness" goes, will I be able to train to become an exceptional fighter? I'll be there for 5 months

  • You're one crazy sob, man sure hit to get hit by your shin, thank you for posting it.

  • Its not so crazy as it looks, its the effect of 100 kicks/day full power on the big bag (a thai one of 300 kg, filled with grinded rubber tire) for about 15 years..... I was 9 years when i started, in the movie i am 45 years old...

I am a muaythai teacher now in the Netherlands, almost every year i go to thailand to train with my school, if you like you can join us, it will be fun!
